What Is Monument of Triumph in Destiny 2?

Monument of Triumph is the permanent celebration and progression framework introduced with Destiny 2 Update 9.7.0.

Unlike older Moments of Triumph events that focused on a particular year of Destiny, Monument of Triumph reaches across the game's entire history. It rewards Guardians for completing Triumphs tied to raids, dungeons, activities, destinations, challenges, collections, and other accomplishments throughout Destiny 2.

The Monument itself can be found in the center of the Tower Courtyard.

Monument of Triumph launched as part of Destiny 2's final planned major live-service update. Bungie has confirmed that the Monument and the content introduced with it remain permanently available. Future hotfixes may still be released when required for stability or game health, but no further planned live-service content updates are expected.

That permanence changes how players should approach the system.

There is no reason to rush through every Triumph immediately. Instead, Monument of Triumph works best as a long-term checklist that directs you toward parts of Destiny 2 you may have ignored or never completed.

How to Start Monument of Triumph

Begin by traveling to the Tower.

The Monument stands prominently in the Courtyard. Interacting with it begins the Monument of Triumph introductory progression.

Bungie's current FAQ specifically directs players to the Monument first and then through its introductory quest before exploring the wider activities connected to the update.

Behind the Monument are four plaques representing the Guardian Tenets.

These plaques function as vendors and are central to Monument progression.

The four Tenets are:

  • Tenet of Bravery

  • Tenet of Devotion

  • Tenet of Sacrifice

  • Tenet of Death

You initially interact with the Monument and make your first purchase through the Tenet of Bravery. Doing so unlocks access to the remaining Guardian Tenet vendors.

Legendary Marks Explained

The core Monument of Triumph currency is Legendary Marks.

Legendary Marks are earned by completing Triumphs within the Monument of Triumph category.

You can view these Triumphs through the Journey menu or directly from the Guardian Tenet vendor interfaces. Bungie also added a shortcut in the Journey screen specifically to make Monument Triumphs easier to find.

Legendary Marks can then be exchanged at the four Guardian Tenet vendors.

This creates a simple progression loop:

Complete Monument Triumphs, earn Legendary Marks, then spend those Marks on the rewards you actually want.

The important part is that Legendary Marks are not simply another random currency farm.

Your supply is directly connected to accomplishments across Destiny 2.

That encourages you to explore raids, dungeons, destination content, Pantheon challenges, cooperative objectives, and other sections of the game rather than repeatedly farming one activity.

Guardian Tenet Rewards

The four Guardian Tenet vendors divide Monument rewards into different themes.

All four vendors offer selections of armor ornament sets and accessories, but each Tenet also contains more specialized rewards.

Tenet of Bravery

The Tenet of Bravery is the first Monument vendor players use.

Its reward pool includes:

  • Armor Ornament Sets

  • Ghost, Ship, and Sparrow accessory sets

  • A new Skimmer

  • A Universal Helmet Ornament

  • Fafnir

  • Heir Apparent

  • Monument weapon engrams

  • General emblems

Bungie specifically places the Monument's repeatable reward engrams with the Tenet of Bravery.

These engrams are particularly useful if you care more about weapons and functional loot than cosmetics.

The available pools include tiered weapons from previous activities and retired seasonal events, giving players a permanent route toward equipment that could otherwise have become difficult or impossible to obtain.

Tenet of Devotion

The Tenet of Devotion focuses more heavily on racing and social-style rewards.

Its rewards include items such as:

  • Sparrow Racing League cosmetics

  • Gryphon

  • All Star Vector Skimmer

  • Emotes

  • Armor Ornament Sets

  • Ghost, Ship, and Sparrow sets

The return of Sparrow Racing League is therefore connected to the Monument not only as an activity, but also through its cosmetic reward ecosystem.

Tenet of Sacrifice

The Tenet of Sacrifice contains several particularly recognizable cosmetic rewards.

Its pool includes:

  • Universal Helmet Ornament

  • Superblack Shader

  • Earnable Holochip

  • Finishers

  • Ghost Shells

  • Ships

  • Armor Ornament Sets

  • Accessory sets

For players primarily interested in Guardian fashion, this will likely be one of the most attractive Tenet vendors.

The Superblack Shader is especially notable because Monument of Triumph permanently restores access to several cosmetics that were previously limited or unavailable.

Tenet of Death

The Tenet of Death leans heavily toward difficult PvE accomplishments and legacy rewards.

Its selection includes:

  • Einherjar Coronet Universal Helmet Ornament

  • Exotic armor ornaments

  • Raid-related cosmetics

  • Dungeon-related cosmetics

  • Chatterwhite Shader

  • Shaders

  • Transmat effects

  • Armor Ornament Sets

  • Accessory sets

For endgame PvE players, many of the most prestigious Monument rewards are associated with this Tenet.

Some Monument Rewards Must Be Unlocked First

Having enough Legendary Marks does not automatically allow you to buy every reward.

Some items require you to complete a specific Triumph or group of Triumphs before they become purchasable.

Bungie provided several clear examples.

Chatterwhite requires completion of its associated Vault of Glass Deepsight objective.

The Einherjar Coronet requires completion of eight Triumphs from the Teamwork: Raid Challenges category.

The Immortal Legend Armor Ornament Set requires earning the Immortal Title.

This means Monument progression has two layers:

You need the accomplishment that unlocks the reward, and you may also need Legendary Marks to purchase it.

Before spending a large number of Marks, inspect the rewards you care about most and determine whether they have additional Triumph requirements.

What Is the Immortal Title?

Immortal is the major Monument of Triumph Title.

Where Pantheon's Godsbane Title demonstrates mastery of the Pantheon raid challenges, Immortal represents much broader accomplishment across Destiny 2.

The Monument is designed around Guardians ranging widely through the game and completing Triumphs across multiple types of content rather than staying inside a single playlist. Bungie describes the Title and its associated armor ornament reward as a way of immortalizing a player's Destiny 2 legacy.

This distinction matters:

Immortal = Monument-wide progression.

Godsbane = Pantheon mastery.

Players interested in full Monument completion should expect to interact with far more than Pantheon alone.

Monument of Triumph Activities

Monument of Triumph is much larger than the Tower statue.

Update 9.7.0 reworked or expanded a significant part of Destiny 2's activity structure.

Major permanent additions and changes include:

  • Pantheon 2.0

  • Distortions

  • Sparrow Racing League

  • Updated raids and dungeons

  • Revised Director navigation

  • Portal activity changes

  • Updated destination rewards

  • Gambit Ops improvements

  • Updated Crucible structure

  • Gear Tier progression

  • Expanded weapon and armor reward pools

The result is effectively a final version of Destiny 2's activity ecosystem rather than one isolated event.

The Director Is Important Again

Monument of Triumph returned the Director to the center of Destiny 2 navigation.

Instead of relying primarily on the old Portal tab, players can once again view destinations and major activity groups through the Director.

Portal activities themselves still exist, but they are integrated through activity nodes accessible from the Director.

This is particularly useful for returning players because much of Destiny's content is now easier to understand geographically.

Raids and dungeons, destinations, campaign locations, Crucible Ops, Gambit Ops, Vanguard activities, and other content are presented through a more unified structure.

Distortions Explained

Distortions are one of Monument of Triumph's major additions to destination gameplay.

When a destination becomes Distorted, its patrol environment becomes more dangerous.

Enemies are tougher and more aggressive, environmental effects indicate the active Distortion, and new encounters or hidden opportunities may appear.

The goal is not to transform Patrol into raid-level content.

Instead, Distortions make ordinary destination exploration more rewarding and occasionally more challenging.

Why Distortions Are Worth Playing

Normal Public Events can award tiered gear.

With Monument of Triumph's destination reward redesign, Bungie established a baseline where ordinary Public Event completions can award Tier 3 gear, while Heroic completions improve that reward level.

During a Distortion, those reward tiers receive an additional upgrade to reflect the increased difficulty. Drops can also upgrade beyond their baseline Tier.

Distortion-specific encounters can additionally reward unique equipment.

This makes Distortions useful for players who want meaningful loot but do not always want to enter raids, dungeons, or high-difficulty Portal activities.

Do Not Ignore Patrol Content Anymore

Before Monument of Triumph, experienced Guardians often had very little reason to spend time freely exploring old destinations.

That changed.

Older destinations received refreshed loot pools, modern perks, tiered equipment, and Armor 3.0 set bonuses.

If you have not visited locations such as Europa, the Moon, the Dreaming City, or other older areas in years, Monument gives them new progression value.

Sparrow Racing League Returns Permanently

Sparrow Racing League, commonly called SRL, returned with Monument of Triumph as a permanent Destiny 2 activity.

SRL allows players to compete using Sparrows across dedicated racing spaces.

The activity has its own weapon rewards, updated armor with a set bonus, and multiple cosmetic rewards.

SRL also contributes to the broader Monument reward ecosystem through Triumphs and Tenet rewards.

Even players who normally focus completely on PvE combat have a reason to try it if they are pursuing Monument completion or particular cosmetics.

Raids and Dungeons Received Major Reward Updates

One of the strongest parts of Monument of Triumph is the overhaul of older raids and dungeons.

All pre-The Edge of Fate raid and dungeon gear was revisited so these activities could participate in the modern Gear Tier system.

Bungie updated:

  • Raid armor

  • Dungeon armor

  • Dungeon weapons

  • Craftable raid weapons

  • Armor set bonuses

  • Weapon perk pools

  • Origin Traits

  • Gear Tier progression

All raids and dungeons now offer tiered armor, while dungeon weapons also support tiered drops. Craftable raid weapons can access Gear Tier bonuses through their upgrade path.

This is a major improvement for returning players.

An old raid is no longer useful only because you enjoy the encounter or want a cosmetic.

Its equipment can now matter in the modern loot ecosystem.

Featured Raids and Dungeons Offer Stronger Farming

Destiny 2 continues to feature selected raids and dungeons through its rotating endgame system.

When an activity is featured, its rewards become significantly more attractive.

Featured raids can provide opportunities for:

  • Deepsight weapons

  • Tier 5 armor

  • Adept weapons on applicable Master challenges

  • High-quality hidden chest rewards

  • Deepsight purchases

  • Farmable encounter loot

Featured dungeons can provide:

  • Tier 5 weapons

  • Tier 5 armor

  • High-quality Master rewards

  • Additional challenge rewards

Non-featured activities still provide useful gear, but standard rewards generally begin at lower Gear Tiers unless you engage with their harder versions or special reward sources.

The practical lesson is not to abandon non-featured raids.

Instead, understand that featured status creates a stronger opportunity when you are specifically trying to farm Tier 5 equipment.

Pantheon 2.0 Explained

Pantheon 2.0 is Monument of Triumph's premier raid boss gauntlet.

It is a permanent successor to the original Pantheon experience from 2024.

Instead of completing an entire traditional raid with exploration, traversal, and puzzle sections, Pantheon places fireteams directly into a sequence of major raid encounters.

Some encounters return in recognizable form.

Others are Encore encounters, which combine mechanics from multiple encounters into a new version requiring experienced raiders to adapt rather than simply repeat old strategies.

Pantheon is accessed through the Raids and Dungeons section of the Director.

It is designed for six-player fireteams and should be treated as endgame PvE content.

Calus Resplendent

Calus Resplendent is one of the main Pantheon activities.

It focuses on reprised encounters from vaulted Destiny 2 raids.

The three encounters are:

  • Argos, Planetary Core

  • Gahlran, the Sorrow-Bearer

  • Emperor Calus

These encounters broadly preserve their original identities while receiving changes that modernize mechanics and combat tuning for Destiny 2's current sandbox. Bungie describes the Resplendent encounters as reprised rather than entirely redesigned.

Argos

Argos originated in Eater of Worlds.

The fight revolves around managing elemental Vex Craniums, breaking the boss's defenses, handling adds, and correctly executing damage phases.

Teams that have never played Eater of Worlds should avoid treating this as a simple boss DPS check.

The encounter requires role coordination before damage becomes possible.

Gahlran

Gahlran comes from Crown of Sorrow.

Witch's Blessing management and communication are central to the encounter.

Players need to understand which teammates hold the necessary buff, when it must be transferred, and how that buff interacts with encounter targets.

Poor buff communication can destroy an otherwise strong attempt.

Emperor Calus

Calus returns from the original Leviathan raid.

The encounter requires the fireteam to coordinate between different spaces, manage symbols correctly, eliminate priority enemies, and build toward an effective damage phase.

Returning players may recognize the fight, but current Pantheon tuning means old muscle memory should not replace communication.

Morgeth Surpassing

Morgeth Surpassing takes a different approach.

Its encounters are classified as Encore versions.

Instead of merely bringing back a boss, Bungie combines the boss encounter with mechanics taken from another section of its original raid.

The three bosses are:

  • Warpriest

  • Consecrated Mind

  • Morgeth, the Spirekeeper

Bungie specifically described these encounters as combinations of two previously separate raid encounters.

Warpriest Encore

Warpriest comes from King's Fall.

Its Pantheon version incorporates mechanics associated with the raid's Totems encounter alongside the traditional Warpriest fight.

That creates considerably more responsibility than simply performing the normal boss sequence.

Your team needs clear assignments and reliable communication around encounter buffs and objective progression.

Consecrated Mind Encore

Consecrated Mind originates in Garden of Salvation.

Its Encore version incorporates Conflux-style mechanics into the boss encounter.

That forces the fireteam to divide attention between boss responsibilities and controlling the wider objective.

Teams that focus entirely on DPS while neglecting encounter management will fail.

Morgeth Encore

Morgeth comes from Last Wish.

The Pantheon version adds mechanics inspired by other Last Wish sequences, producing an encounter that requires stronger symbol communication and Taken Strength management than the traditional fight alone.

This is exactly what Bungie intended Encore encounters to accomplish:

Veterans recognize the ingredients, but they cannot simply autopilot the old encounter.

Insurrection Prime Revolutionary

The full Pantheon gauntlet is Insurrection Prime Revolutionary.

It brings together all six encounters from Calus Resplendent and Morgeth Surpassing before adding Insurrection Prime as the final boss.

Insurrection Prime originally appeared in the vaulted Scourge of the Past raid.

Post-launch Bungie fixes specifically reference Insurrection Prime as a Pantheon encounter, confirming its permanent place in the activity.

The complete gauntlet contains seven boss encounters.

This is the most demanding Pantheon experience because a fireteam must understand raid mechanics drawn from many different eras of Destiny 2 rather than mastering only one encounter.

It is a test of adaptability as much as raw damage.

Adventure Difficulty Is the Best Pantheon Learning Environment

Pantheon includes an Adventure difficulty specifically intended for learning and teaching encounters.

Bungie designed Adventure to be more forgiving by offering easier Power conditions, unlimited revives, and more generous timing on certain mechanics.

The tradeoff is a smaller and lower-Tier reward pool.

That makes Adventure extremely valuable.

If your group does not understand Gahlran's buff management or the mechanics of an Encore encounter, learn them there first.

Trying to learn every mechanic while simultaneously pushing higher-difficulty reward requirements creates unnecessary wipes.

Adventure exists to solve exactly that problem.

Standard Pantheon Difficulty

Standard offers the normal endgame version of Pantheon without requiring players to activate Feats.

Bungie specifically separated Standard from the Feat system so Guardians could pursue high-quality rewards without stacking additional challenge modifiers onto already difficult raid encounters.

Standard can provide Tier 5 encounter rewards, making it useful even for players who have no interest in extreme challenge runs.

For most experienced raid groups, Standard should become the default version once the mechanics are understood.

Custom Difficulty and Feats

Players who want more challenge can use Custom difficulty and activate Feats.

Feats modify encounter difficulty and raise the potential reward grade.

Examples include:

  • Cutthroat Combatants

  • Encounter Challenges

  • Shocktroopers

  • Token Limit

  • Phase Limit

The harder the combination, the better the potential encounter reward package.

Bungie redesigned the Feat system so the additional rewards and Tier upgrades tied to successful Feat completions are guaranteed rather than simply increasing the chance of receiving something useful.

This makes Custom difficulty valuable for well-coordinated groups.

However, turning on every Feat before your team consistently understands an encounter is usually a mistake.

Learn the mechanics first.

Optimize the challenge afterward.

Pantheon Rewards

Pantheon has its own reward ecosystem separate from the Guardian Tenet vendors.

Players can earn:

  • A new armor set for each class

  • Reprised raid weapons

  • Pantheon weapon variants

  • Holofoil weapon variants

  • Original raid armor ornaments from reprised encounters

  • Emblems

  • Exotic cosmetics

  • Triumph progress

  • Godsbane Title progress

  • High-Tier gear

  • Spoils-based rerolls

Bungie also allows multi-boss Pantheon activities to end with a vendor where players can spend Spoils of Conquest to purchase rerolls of equipment they have already acquired.

That gives Pantheon both deterministic and random reward elements.

You still need to earn the item first, but successful runs provide more control over farming desirable rolls.

Original Raid Armor Ornaments Can Drop

One particularly interesting Pantheon reward is access to armor ornaments connected to older raids.

Reprised encounters can drop ornaments associated with their original raid armor.

Bungie's example is Emperor Calus, who can reward ornaments from the original Leviathan armor sets for players who never unlocked them previously.

This gives newer Guardians access to cosmetics tied to content they may never have had the opportunity to play.

It also gives veterans who missed specific pieces another reason to revisit Pantheon.

What Is the Godsbane Title?

Godsbane is Pantheon 2.0's dedicated Title.

Do not confuse it with Monument of Triumph's broader Immortal Title.

Godsbane requires extensive completion of Pantheon Triumphs.

Bungie confirmed that players must complete 11 of the 12 available Pantheon Triumphs to obtain the Title.

Several of those Triumphs are connected specifically to the full gauntlet. One example is Total Revolution, which requires completing the gauntlet under extensive Feat conditions and awards its own emblem.

Godsbane is therefore intended for experienced raid groups.

Simply clearing each boss once is not enough.

Raid and Dungeon Loot Is Part of Monument Progression

Pantheon is important, but players should not mistake it for the only worthwhile endgame activity.

Monument of Triumph modernized all raids and dungeons, not just Pantheon.

Older activities can now contribute meaningfully to:

  • Gear Tier progression

  • Armor 3.0 builds

  • Weapon crafting

  • Deepsight acquisition

  • Adept weapon farming

  • Triumph completion

  • Monument Legendary Marks

  • Armor set collection

If you are pursuing Monument rewards, rotating between Pantheon and ordinary raid/dungeon objectives is often more productive than repeatedly running one gauntlet.

Weapon Tier Upgrading Changes the Value of Monument Loot

Monument of Triumph introduced Weapon Tier Upgrading.

Compatible weapons can now be upgraded through Gear Tiers rather than requiring you to obtain a naturally perfect Tier 5 version immediately.

As weapons climb toward Tier 5, they gain access to additional enhancements associated with the modern Gear Tier system.

This dramatically improves Monument farming.

A strong lower-Tier weapon roll should not automatically be dismantled.

If the perks are excellent and the weapon supports Tier upgrading, it may become more valuable than a naturally higher-Tier weapon with a poor perk combination.

Always evaluate the roll before the Tier.

Attune to the Weapons You Actually Want

Monument of Triumph also moved weapon Attunement directly into the inventory.

You no longer need to constantly travel to individual vendors to change your target.

Attunement can be adjusted while in orbit or between activities, making targeted farming significantly easier.

Use this system deliberately.

Before farming an activity, decide what weapon you actually need.

Ask yourself:

  • Does it improve my current build?

  • Do I need it for boss damage?

  • Is it a PvP weapon?

  • Do I already own a strong alternative?

  • Am I chasing the perks or merely the Tier number?

Targeted farming is much more efficient than filling your Vault with dozens of weapons you will never use.

How to Approach Monument of Triumph Progression

Monument progression works best when you choose rewards first and then identify the Triumphs connected to them.

Do not begin by blindly completing every available objective.

Open the Guardian Tenet vendors and inspect the items you genuinely want.

If you are pursuing Chatterwhite, identify its associated raid requirement.

If you want the Einherjar Coronet, focus on the required raid challenges.

If you want the Immortal armor ornaments, inspect the Immortal Title progression.

If Pantheon cosmetics are your priority, move toward Godsbane objectives and Pantheon encounter mastery.

This prevents Monument of Triumph from becoming an enormous unfocused checklist.

Combine Triumph Progress Whenever Possible

A strong Monument run completes more than one objective at once.

For example, a raid attempt may potentially contribute toward:

  • Raid completion Triumphs

  • Encounter challenges

  • Teamwork Triumphs

  • Weapon Pattern progression

  • Armor collection

  • High-Tier gear

  • Legendary Marks

  • Title progress

Before launching difficult content, inspect your active Monument Triumphs.

A small loadout change or additional encounter challenge may allow the same completion to advance several goals.

Prioritize Permanent Character Upgrades Over Cosmetics First

If your Guardian still needs better weapons, Armor 3.0 pieces, crafted raid weapons, or Tier 5 equipment, prioritize functional progression before spending all your playtime chasing cosmetic unlocks.

Cosmetics are permanent collection goals.

Better equipment makes future Triumphs easier.

A stronger Guardian helps with Pantheon, raids, dungeons, challenge Triumphs, and other difficult Monument requirements.

Once your loadouts are strong enough for the content you want to clear, cosmetic collection becomes much easier.

Save Spoils of Conquest for Valuable Pantheon Rerolls

Pantheon vendors allow rerolls of equipment you have already unlocked.

That makes Spoils of Conquest valuable.

Avoid spending large amounts of Spoils on mediocre rolls simply because you completed a run.

Identify the Pantheon weapon that matters most to your build and invest there.

A single excellent roll can provide more long-term value than several average weapons.

Use Fireteam Finder for Pantheon and Raid Objectives

Pantheon does not require you to maintain a permanent six-person raid team.

Destiny 2 includes Fireteam Finder, accessible through the roster interface, for players who need teammates for cooperative content.

When learning Pantheon, look specifically for groups willing to teach.

Do not join a group expecting experienced Feat clears when you have never completed the encounter normally.

Setting expectations correctly saves everyone time.

Common Monument of Triumph Mistakes

Spending Legendary Marks Without Checking Locked Rewards

Do not purchase random cosmetics immediately just because you have Marks.

Inspect your most important rewards first.

A more desirable reward may require both Marks and a difficult Triumph unlock.

Treating Pantheon Like a DPS Race

Pantheon is raid content.

Mechanics matter.

Even excellent weapons cannot compensate for incorrect symbols, failed buff transfers, missed objective timing, or poor communication.

Activating Too Many Feats Too Early

Custom difficulty is designed for groups that already understand the encounter.

Practice first.

Add challenge modifiers once your mechanics are consistent.

Ignoring Adventure Difficulty

Adventure is not pointless because its rewards are weaker.

It is one of the best tools available for learning Pantheon mechanics without turning every mistake into a full reset.

Dismantling Lower-Tier Weapons Immediately

Weapon Tier Upgrading means lower-Tier drops can still have substantial long-term value.

Check the perks first.

Ignoring Older Raids and Dungeons

Monument modernized their gear.

Older activities can now provide valuable Armor 3.0 sets, tiered weapons, crafting progress, cosmetics, and Triumph completion.

Focusing Only on Pantheon

Pantheon is one component of Monument of Triumph.

Players pursuing Immortal need broad engagement with Destiny 2 rather than only raid-boss farming.

Final Tips for Monument of Triumph

Monument of Triumph works best when you stop thinking of it as one activity.

It is the framework connecting much of Destiny 2's final endgame state.

Legendary Marks reward broad Triumph completion.

The Guardian Tenets transform those accomplishments into cosmetics, weapons, accessories, shaders, and other rewards.

Distortions give destinations renewed relevance.

Updated raids and dungeons provide modern Gear Tier loot.

Weapon Tier Upgrading makes strong rolls more valuable.

And Pantheon 2.0 gives experienced fireteams a permanent raid-boss gauntlet with its own armor, weapons, cosmetics, Triumphs, and Godsbane Title.

Newer players should begin with achievable Monument Triumphs, improve their Guardian, and learn Pantheon through Adventure difficulty before attempting harder challenge conditions.

Veterans can work in the opposite direction: identify the rare cosmetics, Pantheon Triumphs, high-Tier loot, and Immortal requirements they are still missing, then target those objectives directly.

Most importantly, there is no need to rush.

Monument of Triumph and Pantheon were designed as permanent parts of Destiny 2. Build your Guardian, choose the rewards that matter to you, complete the Triumphs connected to them, and gradually turn the Monument into a record of everything your Guardian has accomplished.
