What Is Endgame in Destiny 2?

Destiny 2's endgame begins when progression stops being primarily about completing campaigns and starts being about improving your Guardian for increasingly demanding activities.

Endgame progression involves several different goals:

  • Increasing your Power

  • Obtaining Tier 5 gear

  • Building optimized Armor 3.0 loadouts

  • Hunting strong weapon rolls

  • Completing weapon Patterns

  • Obtaining Adept weapons

  • Collecting raid and dungeon Exotics

  • Mastering difficult mechanics

  • Completing Triumphs and Titles

  • Improving PvP performance

  • Tackling Pantheon and other challenge content

There is no single activity you must endlessly farm.

Destiny 2's current 2026 endgame is built around moving between raids, dungeons, Portal activities, Trials, Competitive PvP, Pantheon, and other challenging content according to what your Guardian actually needs.

Monument of Triumph also modernized older raids and dungeons so much more of Destiny's legacy endgame remains relevant.

All pre-The Edge of Fate raids and dungeons now participate in modern Tiered gear progression. Raid and dungeon armor can drop with Gear Tiers and unique set bonuses, dungeon weapons have been brought into Tier progression, and craftable raid weapons received updated perk pools and Tier upgrading support.

That makes the current endgame considerably broader than simply running the newest raid.

Destiny 2 Power Progression in 2026

One of the most important things returning players need to understand is that old Destiny 2 Power guides are outdated.

The current hard cap is:

550 Power

Monument of Triumph did not increase the cap.

Players can also receive modern catch-up rewards at 300 Power or above, allowing older Guardians to rapidly move away from obsolete equipment levels.

Power matters because it affects which activities you can comfortably attempt and how efficiently you perform against stronger enemies.

However, Power is only the first part of endgame progression.

Once you approach the cap, improving your Guardian becomes much more about:

  • Weapon perks

  • Gear Tiers

  • Armor stats

  • Armor set bonuses

  • Exotic synergy

  • Build quality

  • Encounter knowledge

A 550-Power Guardian with a terrible loadout can still perform significantly worse than a properly built Guardian using optimized equipment.

How to Progress Beyond the 300 Power Catch-Up Point

Portal activities are one of the most important progression systems after reaching the catch-up range.

With Monument of Triumph, Portal reward Power is no longer restricted by the selected difficulty in the same way it was previously.

Instead, activity performance grade matters heavily.

An A grade or higher can continue providing Power progression all the way toward the 550 hard cap, while higher grades provide larger Power increases.

This changes how you should think about difficulty.

Selecting the hardest possible version of an activity is not automatically the fastest way to progress.

You want to complete activities efficiently while earning strong performance grades.

A slightly easier activity where your fireteam consistently earns excellent results can be more useful than repeatedly failing a harder version.

Power Is Not the Same as Gear Tier

This distinction becomes extremely important in endgame Destiny.

Power Level determines your Guardian's progression relative to activity difficulty.

Gear Tier determines the additional qualities available on modern weapons and armor.

Higher-Tier weapons can gain access to benefits such as:

  • Enhanced perks

  • Enhanced modifications

  • Improved components

  • Enhanced origin traits

  • Additional perk flexibility on suitable drops

  • Tier 5 cosmetic features

Modern weapons integrated into the Gear Tier system can also be upgraded through Tiers, which means a great lower-Tier roll can remain valuable.

Do not dismantle a perfect Tier 3 weapon simply because you already have a mediocre Tier 5 version.

Roll first. Tier second.

When Are You Ready for Destiny 2 Endgame?

You do not need perfect equipment before attempting your first endgame activity.

You should, however, understand the basics of your Guardian.

Before entering difficult endgame content, try to have:

  • A functional subclass build

  • Useful Exotic armor

  • A reliable Primary weapon

  • A strong Special weapon

  • At least two good Heavy weapon options

  • Reasonable survivability

  • Champion coverage where relevant

  • An understanding of your abilities

  • A way to deal meaningful boss damage

More importantly, understand what your build actually does.

If you are copying a build from another player but cannot explain how it heals you, regenerates abilities, or increases damage, you are not ready to depend on that setup during a difficult encounter.

Destiny 2 Raids Explained

Raids are Destiny 2's signature PvE endgame activities.

They generally support fireteams of up to six players and combine:

  • Complex mechanics

  • Communication

  • Team coordination

  • Add management

  • Boss damage

  • Puzzle solving

  • Role assignments

Raids reward exclusive armor and weapons, and they also contain valuable Exotic rewards.

Bungie's current raid list includes:

  • Last Wish

  • Garden of Salvation

  • Deep Stone Crypt

  • Vault of Glass

  • Vow of the Disciple

  • King's Fall

  • Root of Nightmares

  • Crota's End

  • Salvation's Edge

  • The Desert Perpetual

Modern raid progression is valuable even in older activities because Monument of Triumph updated their reward systems.

What Makes Raids Different From Normal PvE?

Normal Destiny activities often allow one skilled player to compensate for weaker teammates.

Raid mechanics can prevent that.

A player may need to:

  • Read a symbol

  • Carry an object

  • Stand on a plate

  • Transfer a buff

  • Kill a particular enemy

  • Communicate information

  • Activate something in a specific order

  • Coordinate damage with the group

Failure can wipe the entire fireteam.

That is why raid experience is not measured only by how much damage you deal.

A Guardian who correctly performs mechanics and survives consistently is frequently more valuable than someone with enormous damage numbers who causes repeated wipes.

Which Raid Should You Start With?

For a first raid, choose an activity with mechanics your group is comfortable teaching rather than automatically selecting the raid with the strongest current weapon reward.

Beginner-friendly raid groups are more important than beginner-friendly raids.

Look for a fireteam that:

  • Clearly accepts learners

  • Explains roles

  • Allows questions

  • Gives players opportunities to perform mechanics

  • Does not expect a speedrun

Avoid joining a listing marked for experienced clears if you have never completed the raid.

Setting expectations correctly makes the experience considerably better for everyone.

Raid Roles You Should Understand

A raid rarely has formal MMO roles such as tank, healer, and DPS.

However, players still perform different functions.

Mechanic Roles

These players handle the encounter's objectives.

That might involve symbols, buffs, objects, plates, or other mechanics.

Do not constantly volunteer to "just kill adds."

Eventually, you need to learn mechanics.

Add Clear

Add-clear players control normal enemies while other teammates perform objectives.

This role sounds simple but can become extremely important.

If mechanic players are constantly being overwhelmed, the add-clear role is not being performed effectively.

Boss Damage

During DPS phases, the fireteam attempts to maximize damage against the boss.

This requires more than equipping one powerful Heavy weapon.

Good raid DPS may involve:

  • Supers

  • Heavy weapons

  • Special weapons

  • Damage buffs

  • Enemy debuffs

  • Reload strategies

  • Ammo management

  • Positioning

Your exact loadout should match the encounter.

Raid Boss Damage Basics

A common beginner mistake is using the same DPS setup against every raid boss.

Different encounters favor different weapons.

Precision-Friendly Bosses

Stationary bosses with large precision points can favor:

  • Sniper Rifles

  • Linear Fusion Rifles

  • Precision Exotic weapons

Close-Range Bosses

Bosses that can safely be attacked up close may allow:

  • Swords

  • Shotguns

  • Close-range abilities

Short Damage Windows

Short burst phases may favor:

  • Rocket Launchers

  • Burst Supers

  • High immediate damage

Long Damage Windows

Longer phases can reward:

  • Sustained precision weapons

  • Damage-over-time effects

  • Efficient ammo rotations

The best weapon is always encounter-dependent.

Raid Rewards in Monument of Triumph

Monument of Triumph made raid farming much more valuable.

Featured raids provide some of the strongest PvE loot opportunities.

Standard featured raid encounters and challenges can reward:

  • Deepsight weapons

  • Tier 5 armor

Master difficulty can additionally provide:

  • Adept weapons through challenges

Featured raid hidden chests can also provide Tier 5 armor, while Deepsight and vendor systems provide additional opportunities for targeted weapon progression.

Non-featured raids remain useful.

Their normal difficulty can provide:

  • Deepsight weapon chances

  • Tier 3 armor

Higher-difficulty objectives can still reach Tier 5 quality.

This means you can play whichever raid you enjoy without feeling that non-featured activities are completely worthless.

Featured status simply makes certain raids more efficient for high-end farming.

What Are Deepsight Raid Weapons?

Many raid weapons are craftable.

Obtaining enough Deepsight Pattern progress unlocks that weapon at the Relic.

Crafting lets you build toward a controlled perk combination rather than relying entirely on random rolls.

Monument of Triumph modernized crafted Legendary weapons so existing and newly crafted weapons can participate in Gear Tier upgrading.

That makes raid Patterns one of the strongest long-term account upgrades available.

A random weapon can disappear into your Vault.

An unlocked Pattern gives you permanent access to that craftable weapon.

What Are Adept Raid Weapons?

Adept weapons are higher-end versions of eligible raid weapons.

They are associated with more difficult raid progression, particularly Master challenge completions.

Featured Master raid challenges can award Adept weapons under the modern reward structure.

Adept weapons are useful for players who already understand the raid and want to push deeper into weapon optimization.

Do not make Adept farming your first raid goal.

First learn the encounter.

Then obtain strong weapons.

Only then worry about squeezing additional value out of their highest-end versions.

Destiny 2 Dungeons Explained

Dungeons are smaller endgame PvE activities.

They typically support three-player fireteams and combine:

  • Raid-like mechanics

  • Difficult enemies

  • Boss encounters

  • Unique weapons

  • Unique armor

  • Exotic rewards

  • Solo opportunities

Bungie's current dungeon list includes:

  • The Shattered Throne

  • Pit of Heresy

  • Prophecy

  • Grasp of Avarice

  • Duality

  • Spire of the Watcher

  • Ghost of the Deep

  • Warlord's Ruin

  • Vesper's Host

  • Sundered Doctrine

  • Equilibrium

Dungeons are one of the best bridges between ordinary PvE and raids.

Why Dungeons Are Excellent Endgame Training

Dungeons teach many of the same skills required in raids:

  • Reading mechanics

  • Managing enemy pressure

  • Coordinating damage

  • Staying alive

  • Using cover

  • Managing ammunition

  • Performing roles

However, there are fewer players.

That means your own contribution is easier to understand.

In a six-player raid, you can sometimes survive an encounter without understanding exactly what happened.

In a three-player dungeon, mistakes become much more obvious.

That makes dungeons excellent practice.

Dungeon Rewards in 2026

Dungeon rewards became significantly stronger with Monument of Triumph.

All dungeons now support modern Tiered armor, while dungeon weapons also participate in the Gear Tier system.

Featured dungeon standard and Master encounters can reward:

  • Tier 5 weapons

  • Tier 5 armor

Featured dungeon challenge rewards and hidden chests can also reach Tier 5 quality.

Non-featured dungeons provide:

  • Tier 3 weapons and armor on Standard

  • Tier 5 weapons and armor on Master

This makes dungeons some of the best sources for building a strong Armor 3.0 collection.

Dungeon Armor Set Bonuses

Modern dungeon armor is valuable for more than raw stats.

Armor 3.0 introduced set bonuses that activate when multiple compatible pieces are equipped.

These effects can interact with:

  • Abilities

  • Survivability

  • Weapons

  • Elemental effects

  • Activity mechanics

  • Armor Charge

A dungeon armor piece with slightly lower individual stats can sometimes become more useful when it completes an important two-piece or four-piece set bonus.

Evaluate armor as part of the complete build.

Master Dungeons

Master difficulty is intended for experienced players who already understand the activity.

The enemies are tougher, mistakes are punished more severely, and your loadout becomes significantly more important.

The reason to move into Master difficulty is not simply prestige.

Non-featured Master dungeons can still provide Tier 5 weapons and armor, making Master one of the ways to continue farming high-end versions of gear from a dungeon you specifically want.

Do not begin learning dungeon mechanics on Master unless your group specifically wants that additional challenge.

Understand the encounter first.

Increase the difficulty afterward.

Solo Dungeons

Dungeons can also become some of Destiny 2's most demanding solo PvE challenges.

Solo dungeon play tests:

  • Build quality

  • Survivability

  • Ammo management

  • Mechanic knowledge

  • Boss damage

  • Consistency

  • Patience

Solo builds should prioritize survival more heavily than raid builds.

Healing effects such as Cure, Restoration, Devour, Overshield, Frost Armor, Woven Mail, and other defensive mechanics become extremely valuable.

There is no teammate to revive you when an aggressive DPS strategy goes wrong.

Raids vs Dungeons – Which Should You Play?

Both are worth playing.

Choose raids when you want:

  • Six-player teamwork

  • More complex mechanics

  • Raid weapon Patterns

  • Adept weapons

  • Raid Exotics

  • Large coordinated boss encounters

Choose dungeons when you want:

  • Smaller fireteams

  • Easier group organization

  • Tiered dungeon weapons

  • Tier 5 armor opportunities

  • Solo challenges

  • Raid-style mechanics with fewer players

You do not need to complete every dungeon before attempting a raid.

They simply develop complementary skills.

Destiny 2 Pantheon 2.0

Pantheon 2.0 is one of Destiny 2's premier endgame PvE challenges.

Instead of progressing through a traditional raid from beginning to end, Pantheon places a six-player fireteam into a sequence of major raid encounters.

Its boss pool incorporates encounters from different Destiny raid eras.

Pantheon also contains Encore encounters, which combine mechanics from multiple sections of an original raid rather than merely recreating one fight.

Pantheon is permanent as part of Monument of Triumph's endgame ecosystem.

When Should You Attempt Pantheon?

Do not make Pantheon your first exposure to raid mechanics.

Before seriously pushing Pantheon, you should understand:

  • Raid communication

  • Boss damage rotations

  • Role assignments

  • Ammo management

  • Revive discipline

  • Build swapping

  • Encounter challenges

Pantheon expects you to adapt between very different bosses.

A loadout that dominates one encounter may perform poorly in the next.

Save several builds.

Pantheon Adventure Difficulty

Pantheon includes a more forgiving environment designed for learning encounters.

This is useful for players who want to understand the mechanics before pushing into higher-reward versions.

Using the easier learning environment is not wasted time.

Learning the fight correctly usually saves far more time than repeatedly wiping while simultaneously trying to understand mechanics and maximize challenge conditions.

Pantheon Rewards

Pantheon can provide:

  • Tiered gear

  • Raid weapons

  • Armor

  • Raid-related cosmetics

  • Triumph progression

  • Godsbane Title progress

  • Spoils-based reward opportunities

Its reward structure makes it particularly attractive for experienced PvE players who enjoy raid mechanics but do not necessarily want to clear a complete traditional raid every time.

Pantheon also ties directly into broader Monument of Triumph progression.

Trials of Osiris Explained

For PvP players, Trials of Osiris is one of Destiny 2's primary endgame activities.

Trials emphasizes:

  • Team coordination

  • Positioning

  • Winning individual duels

  • Revives

  • Map control

  • Special ammo management

  • Communication

Saint-14 remains the Trials vendor in the Tower.

Trials Passages track progress and are central to the activity's reward system. Bungie's Fireteam Finder documentation also confirms that Trials groups can be created or joined through the in-game LFG system when the player has the required Trials Passage.

Current Trials Rewards

Monument of Triumph adjusted Trials rewards.

The current system allows the full Trials weapon pool to drop while Trials is active, while players can use Inventory Attunement to substantially increase their chance of obtaining a chosen weapon.

A new Trials armor set was also introduced with the Monument version of the activity.

This makes targeted farming considerably easier.

Instead of hoping that the activity randomly gives you the exact weapon you want, set your Attunement before playing.

Trials Attunement

Attunement is one of the most useful modern farming systems.

You can select eligible weapons from the Inventory and increase their drop probability from the appropriate activity.

Attunement can be changed freely.

Before entering Trials, ask:

  • Which weapon do I actually want?

  • Is it for PvP or PvE?

  • Which perk combination matters?

  • Do I already own a strong version?

  • Am I chasing the weapon or only a higher Gear Tier?

Then attune accordingly.

Do not fill your Vault with random Trials weapons simply because they are prestigious.

What Does Going Flawless Mean?

Going Flawless is one of Trials' traditional high-end objectives.

A successful Flawless Passage grants access to The Lighthouse, where players can obtain additional prestigious Trials rewards.

The Lighthouse remains the destination associated with flawless Trials success.

However, do not treat Flawless as the only reason to play Trials.

Trials reputation, weapon drops, Attunement, armor, and general PvP improvement all provide progression even when you are not consistently reaching the Lighthouse.

How to Prepare for Trials

A strong PvE build does not automatically become a strong Trials build.

Trials values a different set of qualities.

Prioritize:

  • Health

  • Weapons

  • Movement

  • Class ability uptime

  • Reliable Primary weapon

  • Appropriate Special weapon

  • Map awareness

Your Exotic should provide frequent value.

Strong neutral-game PvP Exotics are useful because their effect matters in most engagements rather than only after a complicated ability sequence.

Choose a PvP Engagement Range

Do not carry two weapons that solve the same problem.

A balanced Trials loadout might combine:

  • Hand Cannon + Shotgun

  • Hand Cannon + Sniper Rifle

  • Scout Rifle + Sidearm

  • Pulse Rifle + Shotgun

The idea is simple.

Your weapons should cover different distances.

If both weapons become useless when the opponent moves ten meters closer, your loadout has a major weakness.

Team Shooting Matters More Than Hero Plays

Trials punishes isolated players.

Two average Guardians shooting one target together usually defeat a stronger individual player.

Use teammates.

Control the same lanes.

Focus damaged targets.

Secure revives.

Avoid chasing an opponent so far that your fireteam becomes split.

Endgame PvP is not simply about personal kill totals.

It is about creating situations where your team has an advantage.

Competitive Crucible

Competitive PvP provides another path for Guardians interested in improving their PvP skill.

Monument of Triumph replaced the old seasonal Competitive weapon structure with a broader Competitive Gear reward pool containing weapons and armor.

Competitive is useful preparation for Trials because it teaches:

  • Playing around teammates

  • Surviving

  • Controlling objectives

  • Choosing engagements

  • Reading opponent movement

If ordinary Crucible feels chaotic and Trials feels overwhelming, Competitive can provide a useful middle ground.

Portal Endgame Activities

Not every endgame player needs to raid.

Portal activities can also provide meaningful high-level progression.

The modern reward structure grades performance.

Better grades lead to better Tier rewards, and Portal progression can continue increasing Power toward 550.

For modern Ops activities, reward grades are tied directly to gear quality.

Bungie's current reward structure maps higher grades to higher Gear Tiers, with top performance capable of awarding Tier 5 equipment.

That creates another route for players who:

  • Prefer shorter activities

  • Do not have a raid team

  • Want matchmaking

  • Are still improving their Guardian

  • Want Tiered loot

High Difficulty Does Not Automatically Mean Better Progress

The Portal's modern system rewards performance.

That means you should find the highest difficulty where you can still perform well.

Repeatedly earning poor grades on a difficulty your group cannot handle is inefficient.

Improve gradually.

Add harder modifiers when:

  • Enemies no longer overwhelm you

  • You understand objectives

  • Your boss damage is reliable

  • Your fireteam survives consistently

Endgame progression rewards mastery much more than blindly selecting maximum difficulty.

Fireteam Finder – You Do Not Need a Permanent Group

Destiny 2 includes Fireteam Finder, an in-game LFG system designed for challenging cooperative content.

It is available through the Roster or through the Find option on supported activity launch screens.

Fireteam Finder supports categories including:

  • Raids

  • Dungeons

  • Trials

  • Crucible

  • Campaigns

  • Vanguard content

This means solo players can participate in much more of Destiny 2's endgame than they could in earlier eras.

How to Use Fireteam Finder Properly

The quality of your Fireteam Finder experience depends heavily on setting correct expectations.

If you are learning, join or create a teaching group.

If you know the encounter and want a fast clear, choose an experienced listing.

Do not pretend to know a mechanic because you are worried the group will remove you.

Tell them.

Most teaching groups would rather explain a role once than wipe repeatedly because someone remained silent.

What Gear Should You Have Before Raiding?

You do not need a Vault filled with Tier 5 weapons.

A basic raid-ready arsenal should contain several roles.

Reliable Primary Weapon

Use something you can comfortably clear normal enemies with.

Legendary Primaries became significantly stronger in PvE under Monument of Triumph, so you do not necessarily need to spend your Exotic slot here.

Strong Special Weapon

Your Special should handle:

  • Majors

  • Champions

  • Priority enemies

  • Secondary boss damage

Good categories include Fusion Rifles, Sniper Rifles, Shotguns, Grenade Launchers, and other Special-ammo weapons depending on the encounter.

Several Heavy Weapons

Do not own only one boss weapon.

Have access to at least different damage styles:

  • Precision

  • Rocket

  • Sustained

  • Close-range

That way you can adapt when the encounter changes.

Endgame Armor Preparation

Armor 3.0 uses:

  • Health

  • Melee

  • Grenade

  • Super

  • Class

  • Weapons

Your endgame armor should reflect your actual build.

A grenade build needs Grenade investment.

A class-ability build may want Class beyond 100.

A weapon-focused Trials setup can value Weapons much more heavily.

Do not chase a high total stat number without checking where those stats are distributed.

A lower-total piece concentrated in exactly the stats your build needs can be more useful.

Survivability Is an Endgame Stat

Newer players often treat survivability as something that reduces DPS.

In difficult content, survivability frequently increases real DPS.

A dead Guardian:

  • Cannot damage the boss

  • Cannot perform mechanics

  • Uses a revive

  • Forces teammates to reposition

  • Can cause an encounter wipe

Build enough defense to remain alive consistently.

Then optimize damage.

Endgame Build Flexibility

Save multiple loadouts.

A single raid may require:

  • Add clear

  • Burst damage

  • Precision damage

  • Survivability

  • Movement

  • Champion coverage

Trying to force one build through every encounter is unnecessary.

Destiny 2's loadout system exists specifically to make switching easier.

Use it.

Champions in Current Endgame PvE

Monument of Triumph changed Champion interaction significantly.

Anti-Champion 2.0 gives weapon archetypes intrinsic Champion functionality rather than making players completely dependent on temporary Artifact anti-Champion mods.

Broadly, Bungie's modern system associates:

  • Aggressive / High-Impact frames with Unstoppable

  • Precision / Adaptive frames with Barrier

  • Lightweight / Rapid-Fire frames with Overload

Specific archetypes and Exotics can have their own classifications.

Before entering Champion-heavy content, inspect your weapons.

Make sure the fireteam actually covers the Champions present.

Endgame Weapon Tier Upgrading

You do not need a natural Tier 5 version of every weapon.

Eligible weapons can be upgraded through Gear Tiers.

Tier upgrading can unlock enhanced functionality and eventually Tier 5 benefits.

However, Tier upgrading cannot create extra perk options that were not present on the original drop.

That creates an important farming rule:

Chase the correct perk combination before obsessing over natural Tier.

A perfect lower-Tier roll can be worth upgrading.

A terrible Tier 5 roll may still be terrible.

What Should You Farm First?

Do not begin with "What is the rarest item?"

Start with the biggest weakness in your loadout.

If you lack boss damage, farm a boss weapon.

If you constantly die, improve armor and survivability.

If you cannot handle groups, obtain stronger add-clear weapons.

If your build requires a specific Exotic, pursue that.

If your raid weapon has the right perks at a lower Tier, upgrade it instead of replacing it unnecessarily.

Endgame progression becomes much faster when every farm has a purpose.

A Practical Destiny 2 Endgame Progression Path

There is no fixed order you must follow, but progression becomes easier when you move from fundamentals into specialization.

Establish Your Guardian

Reach the modern Power progression range and build a coherent loadout.

Learn your subclass.

Obtain useful Exotic armor.

Carry reliable Primary, Special, and Heavy weapons.

Push Power Through Appropriate Activities

Use Portal content and other Power-increasing rewards to progress beyond the catch-up range.

Aim for strong performance grades rather than simply selecting maximum difficulty.

Continue toward the 550 hard cap.

Learn Dungeons

Use dungeons to improve:

  • Mechanical awareness

  • Boss damage

  • Survival

  • Team coordination

Start collecting Tiered weapons and Armor 3.0 sets.

Enter Raids

Learn raid communication.

Take mechanic roles.

Begin unlocking weapon Patterns.

Improve your boss damage loadouts.

Target Tier 5 Gear

Use featured raids, featured dungeons, Master difficulties, high Portal grades, and other high-end sources.

Build more specialized Armor 3.0 sets.

Push Advanced Endgame

Move into:

  • Master raids

  • Master dungeons

  • Pantheon

  • Difficult Triumphs

  • Titles

  • Adept weapon farming

  • Solo dungeon challenges

  • High-level PvP

This is not a schedule.

Progress when your Guardian and your own understanding are ready.

PvE Endgame vs PvP Endgame

You do not need to master both.

Destiny supports players specializing heavily toward one side.

PvE Endgame

Focus on:

  • Raids

  • Dungeons

  • Pantheon

  • High-grade Portal activities

  • Master content

  • Triumphs

  • Solo challenges

PvP Endgame

Focus on:

  • Trials

  • Competitive

  • PvP weapon rolls

  • Map knowledge

  • Team communication

  • Movement

  • Duel consistency

Playing both is useful, but not mandatory.

Common Destiny 2 Endgame Mistakes

Entering Raids Without Understanding Your Build

You do not need to know the raid before joining a teaching group.

You should know your own Guardian.

Understand your Exotic, subclass, weapons, and survival tools.

Refusing to Learn Mechanics

"Add clear only" eventually becomes a limitation.

Volunteer for mechanics.

It is the only way to become comfortable with raids.

Copying One DPS Loadout Everywhere

Weapon effectiveness depends on the encounter.

Bring alternatives.

Chasing Tier 5 Before Good Perks

Gear Tier cannot compensate for a useless weapon roll.

Inspect perks first.

Ignoring Raid Weapon Patterns

Crafted raid weapons provide long-term control over your arsenal and participate in modern Tier upgrading.

Pattern progression is valuable.

Spending Every Resource Immediately

Endgame materials are more valuable than early-game materials.

Do not fully invest in gear you are likely to replace.

Joining the Wrong Fireteam Finder Group

If you are learning, join learners.

If you are farming, join farmers.

Mismatch creates frustration.

Treating Trials Like Casual Crucible

Trials rewards positioning, teamwork, revives, and survival.

Running alone into three opponents usually accomplishes nothing.

Ignoring Armor Set Bonuses

Modern raid and dungeon armor can provide valuable set bonuses.

Do not judge armor entirely by raw stats.

Staying at Maximum Difficulty When You Cannot Complete It

Difficulty only matters when you can finish the activity.

Reliable high grades are better progression than endless failed runs.

Destiny 2 Endgame FAQ

What Is the Maximum Power Level in Destiny 2?

The current hard Power cap is 550.

Monument of Triumph did not increase the cap.

How Do I Get Above 300 Power?

Portal activities are one of the primary routes.

An A performance grade or higher can continue providing Power progression toward 550, with stronger grades providing larger increases.

What Is the Best Endgame Activity for Beginners?

Dungeons are an excellent starting point.

They introduce mechanics, boss DPS, communication, and difficult combat with smaller three-player teams.

Beginner-friendly raids are also perfectly reasonable if you find a teaching group.

How Many Players Are in a Destiny 2 Raid?

Raids typically support fireteams of up to six Guardians.

How Many Players Are in a Dungeon?

Dungeons are primarily built as three-player endgame activities, while also supporting solo challenge play.

Are Old Raids Still Worth Doing?

Yes.

Monument of Triumph updated older raid equipment to modern standards.

Raids now provide Tiered armor, set bonuses, refreshed weapon progression, and modern crafting/Tier functionality.

Are Old Dungeons Still Worth Doing?

Yes.

Dungeon weapons and armor were integrated into Gear Tiers.

Featured Standard dungeons can provide Tier 5 weapons and armor, while non-featured Master dungeons can also provide Tier 5 rewards.

What Are Featured Raids Good For?

Featured raids are particularly valuable for farming:

  • Deepsight weapons

  • Tier 5 armor

  • Adept weapons on applicable Master challenges

What Are Featured Dungeons Good For?

Featured dungeons can reward Tier 5 weapons and armor directly from Standard and Master encounters.

Is Pantheon Permanent?

Yes.

Pantheon 2.0 was added as permanent content with Monument of Triumph.

Do I Need a Clan to Raid?

No.

Destiny 2's built-in Fireteam Finder supports raids and other cooperative endgame activities.

Can I Use Fireteam Finder for Trials?

Yes.

Fireteam Finder supports Trials listings for eligible players with the required Trials access and Passage.

Can I Target Trials Weapons?

Yes.

Current Trials allows its broader weapon pool to drop while the activity is active, and Inventory Attunement can substantially increase the chance of receiving a chosen weapon.

Should I Farm Natural Tier 5 Weapons?

Natural Tier 5 weapons are valuable, particularly because higher-Tier drops can provide additional perk flexibility.

However, eligible lower-Tier weapons can also be upgraded.

Keep excellent rolls even when they initially drop below Tier 5.

Do I Need Maximum Power Before Raiding?

Not necessarily.

Activity requirements vary.

Being sufficiently powered for the content matters, but understanding mechanics, using a coherent build, and carrying appropriate weapons are just as important.

What Is the Hardest Destiny 2 Endgame Content?

That depends on your skill set.

For PvE players, Master raid challenges, Pantheon challenges, difficult solo dungeons, and other high-end objectives can be extremely demanding.

For PvP players, consistent high-level Trials success requires an entirely different type of mastery.

Final Tips for Destiny 2 Endgame Progression

Destiny 2's endgame is not about reaching one number and suddenly being finished.

550 Power is the cap, not the end goal.

Once your raw Power is competitive, the real progression begins.

You improve your weapon rolls.

You replace average armor with optimized Armor 3.0 pieces.

You collect set bonuses.

You unlock raid Patterns.

You acquire Tier 5 gear.

You learn raid mechanics instead of hiding permanently on add clear.

You improve dungeon consistency.

You develop separate loadouts for boss damage, survival, and general combat.

And if PvP is your focus, you improve positioning, movement, communication, and weapon consistency through Competitive and Trials.

For newer endgame players, dungeons and accessible raids are excellent places to start.

For experienced Guardians, featured raid and dungeon rewards, Master content, Pantheon, Tier 5 farming, Adept weapons, Titles, and solo challenges provide the next layer of progression.

Most importantly, farm with a purpose.

Do not complete difficult activities merely because they are considered endgame.

Know what you need from them.

If you need raid weapon Patterns, raid.

If you need Tier 5 dungeon armor, target dungeons.

If you need Power, use activities that can actually increase it.

If you want a Trials weapon, attune to it.

And if you want to become genuinely good at Destiny's endgame, learn the mechanics instead of searching for ways to avoid them.

That is the point where endgame stops being something your Guardian is technically allowed to enter and becomes content you actually know how to master.
