That means getting an SSR is never something you should assume will happen after only a few ten-pulls. Even spending thousands of Soul Stones without obtaining the featured character can fall within normal probability.

Do not pull simply because you have enough Soul Stones for one ten-pull. Pull when the banner is worth committing resources to.
Soul Stones are used for much more than character summons.

A common long-term strategy is not to think:
"I have 34,000 Soul Stones available."
Instead think:
"I have roughly 4,000 spendable Soul Stones and a 30,000 reserve."
That distinction prevents impulsive banners from destroying your ability to use the highest Fountain tier.
For free-to-play accounts especially, keeping this reserve can dramatically improve long-term summoning power.

The 30,000 reserve is a strategy, not an absolute law.
If an exceptionally important character appears and completing your core team would provide a major account upgrade, spending below 30,000 can be defensible.

The more consistently you collect free Soul Stones, the less pressure there is to summon on every banner.

The problem is targeting.
When you summon for account progression, you want the highest reasonable chance of receiving something that improves the team you are actually building.
Random SSR ownership does not automatically create a strong Battalion.
New accounts can encounter beginner-specific summon options.
These can include rotating beginner pickup characters and, depending on what is available, paid guaranteed SSR options.
Do not assume every beginner banner is automatically worth spending on just because the game labels it for new players.
Evaluate the featured character exactly as you would any other unit.

Is the character still strong?

A flexible SSR that can carry early progression may be worth much more to a new account than a highly specialized unit that requires an expensive endgame team.
Evertale occasionally offers special guaranteed SSR summons tied to paid Soul Stones.
For example, 2026 anniversary and summer campaigns included paid SSR-guaranteed summon pools where players selected from groups of featured characters and received an SSR from that group.
These should be evaluated differently from normal banners.
A guaranteed SSR removes some randomness, but you may still receive one of several characters rather than the exact unit you want.
Before paying, check the actual pool.
A guarantee is valuable only when enough of the possible outcomes are useful to your account.
Current Evertale information lists approximately:
1% chance for an SSR character
and
0.7% chance for the featured pickup SSR character.
The low featured rate explains why some players obtain a character quickly while others spend tens of thousands of Soul Stones.
Probability does not remember previous unlucky pulls unless the pity mechanic becomes involved.
Ten unsuccessful ten-pulls do not mean the next ten-pull is automatically lucky.
That is why planning around averages can be dangerous.
Evertale has a pity system for featured pickup characters.
The current documented system guarantees the pickup character by 500 summons on that banner.
Receiving a different off-banner SSR does not reset this pickup guarantee.
At 100 Soul Stones per summon, reaching the full 500-pull guarantee from zero progress represents 50,000 Soul Stones.
This is one reason large reserves matter.
This is one of the most important mechanics to understand before summoning.
When the pickup period ends, the summon count is reset.

That is one of the least efficient ways to summon.
A better strategy is to identify characters you genuinely want and accumulate enough resources to make a serious attempt when they appear.
Before summoning, decide what your objective actually is.
There is a major difference between:
obtaining one copy
and
fully awakening the character.
SSR characters can be awakened four times.
Awakening requires another copy of the same character or its corresponding Awakening Piece. Four awakenings therefore require five total copies of the SSR character.
This dramatically changes Soul Stone planning.
Awakening increases Attack and HP and can unlock additional passive skills.
Current data lists the SSR character stat multipliers from awakening as:

These multipliers apply according to the game's documented base-stat calculation and do not simply multiply every visible stat on the character screen.
The important point is that a fully awakened SSR can be significantly stronger than an unawakened version.

Competitive high-end Arena evaluations often assume fully awakened characters, but that does not mean every account needs to fully awaken every unit it summons.
One copy may already give you:
access to the character's core mechanics;
another strong attacker;
an important blocker;
team-enabling support;
a missing status interaction.
For free-to-play players, collecting one strong copy and preserving Soul Stones can sometimes provide more account value than spending everything chasing four additional duplicates.
Full awakening becomes more reasonable when:
the character is the centerpiece of your main team;
awakening unlocks especially important passives;
you have a large Soul Stone surplus;
your account already has the supports it needs;
the character is likely to remain important for a long time;
competitive Arena performance is a major goal.
The stronger your existing account becomes, the more reasonable concentrated investment can become.
A beginner with one SSR usually benefits more from roster development than from trying to fully awaken every new character.
Every SSR does not gain exactly the same practical value from awakening.
The raw stat growth is meaningful, but passive unlocks can make certain awakening thresholds particularly important.
Before spending tens of thousands of Soul Stones on duplicates, inspect the character's complete awakening progression.
Ask:
Which passive unlocks?
Does the character need full awakening to perform its main job?
Would another new support improve my Battalion more?
The answer can save enormous amounts of Soul Stones.
Evertale also has a further development step called Heavenly Awakening.
Current requirements state that an SSR must be Level 100 and already awakened four times before Heavenly Awakening becomes available. It provides additional stats and unlocks another appearance.
This reinforces how expensive the top end of character development can become.
Do not design your entire summoning strategy around maximum investment unless that aligns with your account goals.
Before spending Soul Stones, evaluate the banner through four categories.
Is the featured SSR actually competitive?
New characters can be powerful, but newer does not automatically mean best.
Check current performance and how the character behaves in Auto Battle rather than relying only on its promotional presentation.
This is more important than raw tier placement.
A strong Poison character may have little immediate value if your account is heavily invested into Burn.
A slightly lower-ranked Burn support might improve your real team much more.
Pull for the roster you own.
Some characters work effectively with one copy and flexible support.
Others become dramatically better with several awakenings or require multiple expensive teammates.
The more pieces a character requires, the more expensive the actual team becomes.
Finally, ask how many Soul Stones remain after the summon attempt.
A banner can contain an excellent character and still be a poor decision if pulling leaves your account completely empty.
Instead of thinking:
"I want this character because she is S+ tier."
Think:
"My Battalion needs a blocker."
or:
"My Poison attacker needs a reliable enabler."
or:
"My opening formation needs a second independent damage threat."
This approach prevents unnecessary summoning.
A character has the most value when it solves a real problem.
If your account is already built around Burn, prioritize characters that:
apply or maintain Burn;
benefit from Burning targets;
protect your main Burn attacker;
provide universal support without removing Burn.
Avoid pulling every powerful Poison or Sleep character unless you genuinely intend to build a second team.
Status conflicts matter.
One individually elite unit can actually reduce team consistency when its skills overwrite the condition your existing carry needs.
Poison is relatively flexible.
Characters that provide strong individual damage while also benefiting from Poison can be excellent investments.
However, do not assume you need five Poison specialists.
Once your team can reliably establish Poison, another blocker or universal support may create more value than another enabler.
Use summons to fill missing roles.
Stun characters remain valuable because TU disruption can prevent key enemy actions.
But modern Evertale includes characters with resistance to certain Stun mechanics.
That makes hybrid Stun teams attractive.
When summoning, look for characters that still provide damage, protection, or support when their Stun effect is less effective.
A character that becomes useless whenever the opponent resists Stun is a much riskier long-term investment.
Sleep and Deep Sleep teams need a balance between setup and payoff.
Do not fill every slot with characters whose main job is applying Sleep.
Once you have reliable setup, prioritize characters that turn that control into kills or protect the attackers while enemies are disabled.
Summoning decisions should strengthen the entire chain:
apply Sleep → control enemy → exploit Sleep → secure kills.
Usually, beginners benefit from patience.
A strong early SSR certainly makes progression easier, but Evertale's current guidance does not consider rerolling mandatory because Story Mode can be progressed without SSR characters and the base SSR rate is low.
The more important early objective is building a sustainable Soul Stone economy.
If a strong, flexible pickup appears, obtaining one good carry can be worthwhile.
But spending every Soul Stone you earn simply because you currently lack SSR characters can delay your account's long-term economy.
Rerolling can improve your starting roster, but it is not mandatory.
Current Evertale guidance specifically warns that the 1% SSR character rate can make extensive rerolling frustrating and suggests that free-to-play players may gain more by beginning normal progression and working toward the 30,000 Soul Stone reserve.
Reroll if you enjoy optimizing the start.
Do not feel that an account without an immediate SSR is permanently ruined.
For free-to-play players, patience is the strongest summoning resource.
A practical approach is:
Protect the 30,000 Soul Stone reserve.
Use the Lucky Fountain whenever possible.
Choose one primary team direction.
Do not try to build every archetype simultaneously.
Wait for meaningful upgrades.
A banner should improve your real Battalion, not simply your collection.

Competitive players face a different problem.
A single copy may not be enough when fighting opponents using fully awakened meta characters.
In that environment, awakenings, passive unlocks, team depth, and multiple competitive Battalions become increasingly important.
That means competitive players should often summon less frequently but more deeply.
Instead of obtaining one copy of every new character, it may be better to heavily invest in a smaller number of units that complete a high-end formation.
The cost is much higher, so choosing the correct banner becomes even more important.
Once you have already summoned the same SSR character five times, further duplicate copies can provide Ancient Soul Stones.
Current Evertale information states that summoning another copy of an SSR you have already obtained five times awards 100 Ancient Soul Stones.
The Ancient Soul exchange currently requires:
1,000 Ancient Soul Stones for an SSR character
100 for an SR character
25 for an R character.
This provides some value from excessive duplicates, although it should not be treated as a reason to chase unnecessary copies.
Evertale summons also contain weapons.
Seeing an SSR summon animation does not necessarily mean you obtained the featured SSR character.
SSR weapons can be valuable, especially when they match an important unit, but most players pulling a pickup banner are primarily targeting the featured character.

Did I obtain the character I needed?
