WARDOGS Factions Explained: Differences, Teams and Which One to Choose

WARDOGS splits every large-scale battle between three factions: Lonestar, Valkyra, and Manticore. Each has its own identity, battlefield color, visual theme, and fictional background, but the current Early Access build does not give one faction stronger weapons, better vehicles, extra health, cheaper gear, or unique combat bonuses. The real differences come from the players who join each team, their coordination, and current live balance conditions.

Check out some of our most popular WARDOGS services:

WARDOGS does not use the normal two-team formula.

Every match can contain up to 100 players split between three competing factions:

Lonestar.

Valkyra.

Manticore.

All three fight over the same Control Zone.

Every 30 seconds, the faction with the strongest player presence inside that Control Zone receives one point.

The first faction to reach 100 points wins. BULKHEAD confirms all three team names and the scoring rules in its official developer FAQ.

That three-team structure changes the battlefield dramatically.

You are not fighting one enemy.

You are fighting two.

If Lonestar and Valkyra destroy each other around a Hot Zone, Manticore can arrive afterward and take control.

If Manticore focuses too hard on one opponent, the third faction may quietly capture towers, establish a FOB, or build enough objective presence to begin taking score ticks.

The faction system therefore matters enormously.

But not for the reason many new players expect.

The most important thing to understand is this:

In the current Early Access build, there is no verified mechanical reason to choose Lonestar, Valkyra, or Manticore for stronger guns, vehicles, damage, armor, cash, progression, or role bonuses.

The factions provide identity.

The players provide the performance.

What Are the Three WARDOGS Factions?

Lonestar, Valkyra, and Manticore are the three opposing teams that form WARDOGS' three-way battlefield structure.

Every WARDOGS match divides players between three separate forces rather than the traditional red-versus-blue format. BULKHEAD officially identifies those teams as Lonestar, Valkyra, and Manticore, while current live references consistently associate them with blue, red, and green respectively.

The three factions are:

Lonestar – Blue.

Valkyra – Red.

Manticore – Green.

Their fictional identities are different.

Their current battlefield equipment access is not.

This means the faction choice is currently more similar to choosing:

Team identity.

Color.

Visual style.

Lore.

Community.

rather than choosing a traditional RPG faction with exclusive classes and equipment.

Lonestar Explained

Lonestar is the blue faction and represents the Western paramilitary side of the WARDOGS conflict.

Lonestar's identity is built around a Western private-military or paramilitary theme. Current faction references describe the group as the heavy-hitters of the Western paramilitary world, giving it a modern contractor-style identity rather than presenting it as the official military of a real-world country.

Lonestar is:

Blue.

Western-aligned in theme.

Private-military/paramilitary in presentation.

Associated cosmetically with the Bushmaster starter weapon camo in the official Supporter Pack.

That Bushmaster connection is important to understand correctly.

It does not mean:

Only Lonestar can use the Bushmaster.

It means:

The Supporter Pack contains a Lonestar-branded cosmetic for that weapon.

Current faction references consistently report that all three factions can access the same overall equipment pool.

Lonestar therefore does not have:

Higher Western weapon damage.

Better tanks.

Better helicopters.

More starting cash.

Extra armor.

A Driver bonus.

A Pilot bonus.

Any confirmed combat passive.

Its difference is identity and team membership.

There is, however, a major current community issue surrounding Lonestar that we will explain later:

Blue is currently underperforming in live matches according to the developer's own reported data.

That is a live balance problem.

It is not evidence that Lonestar rifles deal less damage.

Valkyra Explained

Valkyra is the red faction and carries a Soviet-restorationist military identity.

Valkyra's fictional background centers on restoring the Soviet People's Republic to power. Its visual and narrative identity therefore leans toward a harder Eastern military theme, but that identity currently does not create exclusive equipment, weapon statistics, or progression advantages.

Valkyra is:

Red.

Soviet-restorationist in theme.

One of the game's three competing military forces.

Cosmetically associated with the A-91 rifle camo in the official Supporter Pack.

Again:

A Valkyra A-91 cosmetic does not mean the A-91 is Valkyra-exclusive.

The Supporter Pack explicitly calls these faction-branded camos.

That distinction prevents one of the most common faction misunderstandings.

Players see:

Valkyra + A-91.

Then assume:

Valkyra receives special Eastern weapons.

Current live information does not support that conclusion.

Valkyra still uses the same underlying WARDOGS economy and equipment system as the other factions.

Manticore Explained

Manticore is the green faction and represents the Kingdom of Persia's covert or shadow-army identity.

Manticore has the most covert-oriented fictional presentation of the three factions, with current official-derived references describing it as a shadow force connected with the Kingdom of Persia and Tehran. Like Lonestar and Valkyra, however, its current identity is narrative and cosmetic rather than a source of exclusive combat statistics.

Manticore is:

Green.

Persian-linked in the fictional lore.

Presented as a deniable or shadow military force.

Cosmetically associated with the KH-2002 starter weapon camo in the Supporter Pack.

There is no verified:

Manticore stealth bonus.

Manticore weapon accuracy bonus.

Cheaper Manticore equipment.

Unique Manticore vehicle.

Extra Recon progression.

Special Hot Zone bonus.

Those ideas may sound thematically appropriate.

They are not current confirmed mechanics.

Do WARDOGS Factions Have Different Weapons?

No current verified evidence shows faction-exclusive weapons in the live Early Access build.

The weapon system is currently shared across the three teams. The faction-branded weapons seen in official cosmetic material are skins, not evidence that each faction receives a different arsenal. Current live faction databases consistently report the same armory access across Lonestar, Valkyra, and Manticore.

This is one of the most important answers in the entire guide.

Choosing Lonestar does not lock you into Western rifles.

Choosing Valkyra does not lock you into Eastern rifles.

Choosing Manticore does not lock you into Persian equipment.

BULKHEAD's official FAQ describes the game's roles as equipment-driven rather than class-driven, with players free to purchase the equipment and vehicles needed for the role they want to perform.

Current faction references likewise report that the factions share the same arsenal.

So your faction does not decide whether you can be:

Assault.

Medic.

Recon.

Support.

Driver.

Pilot.

Your loadout does.

Do WARDOGS Factions Have Different Vehicles?

Current factions do not have confirmed exclusive tank, helicopter, truck, or APC rosters.

Lonestar, Valkyra, and Manticore currently draw from the same general vehicle ecosystem rather than each receiving a completely separate national vehicle tree. Community discussions regularly request more faction-specific vehicle identity, which itself highlights that the live game currently shares much of its equipment pool.

This means:

Lonestar does not automatically get a better tank.

Valkyra does not receive a unique heavy armor passive.

Manticore does not receive cheaper helicopters.

Your:

Driver level.

Pilot level.

Career progression.

Permanent unlocks.

Cash.

determine which vehicles you can access.

Not the flag beside your name.

That could change during Early Access.

WARDOGS is actively developed.

But a future possibility should never be written as a current mechanic.

Do Factions Have Different Armor, Damage, or Health?

No confirmed faction stat bonuses exist in the current build.

A Lonestar player, Valkyra player, and Manticore player using the same weapon, ammunition, armor tier, and comparable conditions should not receive different basic combat statistics simply because of faction choice. Current live faction guides report no faction-specific damage, health, armor, or passive bonuses.

Faction does not currently change:

Player health.

Armor reduction.

Weapon RPM.

Weapon recoil.

Ammo penetration.

Flesh damage.

Vehicle hull HP.

Healing power.

Revive power.

FOB construction strength.

Driver XP.

Pilot XP.

The systems covered in the other WARDOGS guides work independently of your team identity.

Does Faction Change Your Cash Economy?

All three teams currently participate in the same persistent cash economy and use the same basic economic rules.

Choosing one faction does not provide a confirmed cash multiplier, cheaper weapons, cheaper vehicles, or better vendor prices. WARDOGS' economy rewards what you do in the match—combat, transport, healing, construction, objective play, and other useful actions—not the faction name selected before deployment.

BULKHEAD describes teamplay-oriented roles as profitable and gives players freedom to buy equipment according to their desired role.

There is currently no verified:

Lonestar cash penalty.

Valkyra XP bonus.

Manticore vendor discount.

That becomes especially important when discussing the current Blue Team situation.

Blue may currently lose more frequently.

That does not mean the shop secretly charges Lonestar more.

Does Faction Affect Progression?

Your Driver, Pilot, Support, Medic, Recon, Assault, and broader account progression are not currently faction-specific systems.

WARDOGS progression follows the actions and roles you perform rather than creating separate Lonestar, Valkyra, and Manticore progression trees. Switching team identity between matches does not create three different versions of your Driver or Pilot journey.

That means:

Driver 35 is still Driver 35.

Pilot 35 is still Pilot 35.

The Heavy Tank requirement does not change with faction.

Helicopter unlocks do not become cheaper because you joined another team.

Weapon unlock levels remain tied to progression.

Faction choice changes who your allies and enemies are.

Not what your account has earned.

Faction-Branded Cosmetics

Cosmetics are currently one of the clearest real differences between faction identity and faction combat mechanics.

BULKHEAD's official Supporter Pack contains one branded starter-weapon camo for each faction: Valkyra receives an A-91-themed cosmetic, Lonestar a Bushmaster cosmetic, and Manticore a KH-2002 cosmetic. These are explicitly presented as camos rather than faction-exclusive weapon unlocks.

The official Supporter Pack includes:

Valkyra Branded A-91 Rifle Camo.

Lonestar Branded Bushmaster Camo.

Manticore Branded KH-2002 Camo.

This gives each faction more visual identity.

But cosmetic association should never be confused with combat restriction.

You are choosing the banner.

Not a separate tech tree.

How Team Selection Works

WARDOGS requires players to select a team before they are considered active in the match.

BULKHEAD's developer FAQ explicitly states that players joining a server must select a team before they count as active. The game also uses a seamless drop-in/drop-out structure rather than requiring every player to remain for an entire match.

The game is designed so players can:

Join.

Select a faction.

Fight.

Leave when needed.

Other players can join.

This matters because team composition is not completely static.

WARDOGS is a long-form battlefield.

Players are continuously entering and leaving.

BULKHEAD has also said that because skill and playstyles vary so widely, a difference of one additional player does not automatically create an unfair advantage.

So do not obsess over:

33 vs 34 players.

The more important question is:

What are those players actually doing?

Thirty organized objective players can outperform a larger team full of isolated individuals.

Why the Three-Team System Is So Important

Your faction choice determines two enemies instead of one, creating constant opportunities for flanking, third-party attacks, temporary pressure shifts, and strategic mistakes.

The defining faction mechanic is not a weapon bonus. It is the fact that there are three factions simultaneously competing for the same objective. That changes every tactical decision because attacking one team can create a free opportunity for the third.

Imagine:

Lonestar attacks Manticore.

Valkyra watches.

Lonestar loses ten players.

Manticore loses eight.

Valkyra pushes the Hot Zone with fresh numbers.

Who benefited most?

Possibly Valkyra.

This is why strong WARDOGS teams constantly ask:

Where is the third faction?

Not only:

Where is the enemy?

Both are enemies.

Third-Party Fighting

Sometimes the strongest faction decision is allowing the other two teams to weaken each other before committing your own players.

WARDOGS' three-way format rewards patience differently from a two-team shooter. If two factions are heavily committed to one building or FOB, the third faction may be able to capture towers, reinforce the Hot Zone, destroy logistics, or simply arrive after both opponents are depleted.

This does not mean:

Never fight first.

It means:

Understand the cost of every engagement.

If Valkyra and Manticore are spending all their resources attacking each other 400 meters away from the important Hot Zone...

Lonestar does not necessarily need to join them.

Take the objective.

The scoreboard rewards presence.

Not participation in every firefight.

The Current Lonestar “Blue Team” Problem

Lonestar currently has a real live-performance problem, but it should not be confused with a confirmed faction equipment disadvantage.

As of September 18, 2026, recent reporting citing BULKHEAD CEO Joe Brammer says the developer's internal data shows Green winning most often, Red relatively close, and Blue performing significantly worse for what he described as “mixed reasons.” The developer has acknowledged that there is a balancing issue.

This is important because two statements can be true at the same time.

Statement one:

Lonestar currently underperforms in live match outcomes.

Statement two:

There is no confirmed evidence that Lonestar has weaker weapon damage, worse armor, inferior progression, or a smaller equipment roster.

Those are not contradictory.

A faction can perform worse because of:

Player distribution.

Map positioning.

Team-selection behavior.

Community reputation.

Coordination differences.

New-player concentration.

Other systemic factors.

without its M4 suddenly doing less damage.

Why Does Blue Lose More?

The developer has acknowledged the result but has not reduced the problem to one single confirmed cause.

Current community discussion proposes several explanations, including spawn geometry on some maps, stronger players avoiding Lonestar because of its reputation, newer players filling the remaining Blue slots, and a self-reinforcing cycle where Blue loses because experienced players expect Blue to lose. These are plausible community explanations, not a finalized developer diagnosis.

Recent PC Gamer reporting describes players actively avoiding Lonestar and notes the possibility of a self-fulfilling reputation: stronger or more experienced players avoid the faction, leaving more open space for newer or less coordinated players, which can cause more losses and reinforce the reputation again.

Steam discussions also contain repeated player theories about:

Blue being caught between two enemy directions.

Experienced players preferring Red or Green.

Blue receiving more solos or newcomers.

Different map spawn geometry.

Those observations are useful.

But do not convert them into false certainty.

We cannot accurately say:

“Lonestar loses because its spawn is always worse.”

That remains more complicated.

Is Lonestar Mechanically Weaker?

Current evidence says no confirmed weaker guns, vehicles, armor, progression, or faction passive exists.

The current Blue problem is about live outcomes and faction balance, not a documented hidden combat-stat penalty. Current faction databases continue to show the same armory and equipment access across all three teams.

That is why changing from Lonestar to Manticore does not suddenly make:

Your rifle stronger.

Your tank tougher.

Your Medic heal faster.

Your Driver earn more XP.

What changes is:

Your team.

The players around you.

Potential battlefield positioning.

The current match ecosystem.

Those differences can still matter enormously.

They are simply not the same as faction stats.

Is Manticore Stronger?

Current developer-reported results show Green performing best overall, but that does not establish a permanent mechanical Manticore advantage.

Recent September 2026 reporting says the developer's internal match data currently has Green winning most frequently, with Red relatively close. That is an observed live outcome, not evidence of a Green damage bonus, unique weapon advantage, or permanent guarantee that Manticore will remain ahead after balance changes.

WARDOGS is in Early Access.

Balance can change.

Team behavior can change.

New players learn.

Selection patterns shift.

Maps get adjusted.

Do not build a permanent faction guide around one week's win-rate reputation.

The safest factual conclusion is:

Manticore currently performs well in aggregate.

No confirmed hidden Manticore combat bonus explains it.

Is Valkyra Stronger?

Valkyra also performs competitively in current live reporting, but its weapons and progression remain mechanically shared with the other teams.

Current developer-linked reporting places Red relatively close to Green in overall results. As with Manticore, this should be understood as current team performance rather than proof that Valkyra receives special statistics.

Do not choose Valkyra because someone says:

“Red guns are stronger.”

That is unsupported.

Choose it because:

Your squad plays Red.

You like the identity.

You like the visual theme.

The current server has room.

Those are real factors.

Which Faction Should You Choose With Friends?

The strongest practical choice is usually the faction your group can join together.

WARDOGS heavily rewards communication and specialized teamwork. A coordinated squad with a Medic, Driver, Support player, Recon information, and shared objective plan is generally more useful than several skilled players spread across opposing factions.

Check out some of our most popular WARDOGS services:

This matters more than faction lore.

If your friends are all choosing Valkyra:

Join Valkyra if the server allows it.

If everyone is already on Lonestar:

Do not split the squad only because community memes say Blue loses.

A functioning squad can:

Transport together.

Revive each other.

Defend towers.

Operate a tank crew.

Build a FOB.

Run supplies.

Coordinate helicopter drops.

That teamwork affects your actual match.

Faction flavor does not.

Which Faction Should Solo Players Choose?

Solo players should focus on finding active teamwork rather than assuming one faction always guarantees a better experience.

Current aggregate performance is not the same thing as what is happening on the specific server you joined. A supposedly strong faction can still be disorganized, while a Lonestar team with several coordinated squads can dominate the objective.

Before deploying, consider:

Which faction has active communication?

Where are players grouping?

Is one side actually running transport?

Are Medics reviving?

Is someone building useful infrastructure?

Do people respond to objective calls?

That is more informative than:

Green = good.

Blue = bad.

Red = somewhere between.

Those current stereotypes describe trends.

Not individual matches.

Which Faction Should Beginners Choose?

Beginners do not need a special faction because all three currently use the same fundamental progression and equipment systems.

A new player should prioritize learning the economy, Control Zone, armor, ammunition, transport, revives, and map systems instead of worrying that the wrong faction selection permanently damaged the account.

There is no current reason a beginner must pick one particular faction to access:

Better starter guns.

Better armor.

Cheaper transport.

Faster leveling.

Instead:

Join teammates.

Buy a sustainable loadout.

Get inside the Control Zone.

Listen to local voice chat.

Learn how the faction is organizing.

That knowledge transfers regardless of team color.

Which Faction Is Best for Assault?

None of the three has a confirmed Assault advantage.

Assault effectiveness comes from weapon choice, armor, ammunition, aim, positioning, and objective participation. Faction identity does not currently improve assault-rifle damage, recoil, or survivability.

Choose:

Lonestar.

Valkyra.

Manticore.

Your Assault build works the same way.

Which Faction Is Best for Medic?

Medic performance is determined by equipment, progression, positioning, and team cooperation—not faction.

No current faction grants stronger healing, faster revives, cheaper medical equipment, or increased Medic progression. A Medic on an organized Lonestar team can be far more valuable than a Medic on an uncoordinated Manticore team simply because teammates protect and use the revive system properly.

The same principle applies to every role.

Which Faction Is Best for Driver or Pilot?

Driver and Pilot progression is shared, so vehicle-focused players should choose based on squad and team needs rather than faction-exclusive vehicles.

The Heavy Tank does not become a Lonestar-only reward. The Z20 does not become Manticore-exclusive. Current Driver and Pilot progression functions through account and role unlocks rather than separate faction vehicle trees.

If your friends operate armor on Valkyra:

Join Valkyra.

If a Lonestar team desperately needs transport:

Your Driver can create huge value there.

The vehicle systems remain the same.

Which Faction Is Best for Support?

Support is arguably even more dependent on teammates than most roles because FOB construction, drills, repairs, mortars, and supplies require cooperation.

No faction gives stronger walls, cheaper hammers, or better FOBs. The more important question is whether your team has Drivers delivering supplies, players defending the base, and enough objective awareness to build the FOB somewhere useful.

A coordinated Support network is stronger than a faction logo.

Always.

Faction Color and Battlefield Recognition

Color is one of the few immediate gameplay-facing differences because it helps players distinguish which army owns or represents different elements of the battlefield.

Lonestar is Blue, Valkyra Red, and Manticore Green. Learning those colors quickly matters because WARDOGS' three-team fights can become extremely confusing when both enemy factions appear in the same engagement.

Imagine:

You are Green.

Red enters from the west.

Blue enters from the north.

You cannot simply think:

Enemy = red.

There are two enemy identities.

Being able to recognize them helps answer:

Which faction is currently attacking us?

Which one holds the Hot Zone?

Are these enemies fighting each other too?

Should we engage both?

Should we let them continue fighting?

Faction color becomes tactical information.

Do Not Treat Both Enemy Factions the Same in Every Moment

Both teams are hostile, but the immediate strategic threat can be completely different.

If Valkyra has 92 points and Lonestar has 54, attacking Lonestar while Valkyra controls the Hot Zone may actively help Valkyra win. The three-team structure means threat priority should change with score, objective presence, tower ownership, FOB locations, and current battlefield pressure.

This is a major step beyond traditional two-team thinking.

Sometimes the faction shooting you is not the faction you most urgently need to stop.

If one team is approaching 100 points:

Its objective network becomes the bigger strategic problem.

Attack:

Their Hot Zone position.

Their reinforcement route.

Their tower.

Their FOB.

Their spawn vehicle.

Do not spend ten minutes fighting the third-place faction somewhere irrelevant.

Temporary Battlefield Pressure Is Not an Alliance

When the other two factions fight each other, you can exploit the situation without expecting either one to remain friendly.

WARDOGS creates natural moments where two teams benefit from pressuring the same leader, but nothing turns those teams into permanent allies. The moment the score or objective changes, the same players may immediately attack one another again.

Think opportunistically.

If Red is removing Green from a fortified building your team also needs cleared:

You may not need to rush inside immediately.

Wait.

Then contest whoever survives.

That is not diplomacy.

It is battlefield timing.

Faction Population and Drop-In/Drop-Out Play

Team strength changes continuously because WARDOGS allows players to join and leave long-form matches.

BULKHEAD's official FAQ describes the game as seamless drop-in/drop-out and says individual headcount differences alone are not enough to explain team strength because skill and playstyles vary enormously.

This is why a match can change dramatically.

A weak team can gain:

A coordinated squad.

Experienced Pilots.

A Support group.

Tank crews.

More Medics.

And suddenly become competitive.

Do not assume the faction that struggled earlier will struggle forever.

WARDOGS matches are dynamic social battles.

Should You Chase the Current Winning Faction?

Picking a team solely because it currently has the strongest reputation can contribute to the very imbalance the community is complaining about.

Current reporting around Lonestar describes players avoiding Blue because they expect it to lose, which can concentrate more experienced players on other factions and reinforce the original reputation. That creates a self-perpetuating community problem even without mechanical differences between the factions.

From a player's perspective, it is understandable to prefer:

A faction where friends already play.

A faction that seems organized.

A team with open transport.

But constantly treating one color as:

“The only faction worth playing”

can make matchmaking and server starts worse for everyone.

The current Lonestar issue shows exactly how faction reputation can become part of faction balance.

Will BULKHEAD Make the Factions More Different?

That remains possible during Early Access, but current evidence does not justify writing future faction-specific equipment as if it already exists.

Players have actively requested unique faction vehicle and weapon identities, and WARDOGS is still under development. However, community requests are not announcements. Until BULKHEAD confirms faction-exclusive equipment or bonuses, guides should treat Lonestar, Valkyra, and Manticore as mechanically shared factions with distinct identity and presentation.

This article therefore reflects:

Current Early Access.

September 2026.

Not a permanent promise about every future season.

If faction-specific equipment arrives later:

The answer changes.

Common WARDOGS Faction Mistakes

Choosing a faction because you think it has exclusive weapons.

Faction-branded camos do not establish faction-locked weapon access.

Check the actual armory.

Assuming Manticore has better stats because Green currently wins more.

Live win results and mechanical bonuses are different things.

Current reporting shows Green performing strongly.

It does not show hidden Green damage.

Assuming Lonestar weapons are weaker because Blue currently struggles.

The developer has acknowledged a Blue balance problem, but there is no verified Lonestar weapon or armor penalty.

Do not confuse team outcomes with weapon statistics.

Splitting your squad across different factions.

WARDOGS rewards coordinated roles heavily.

Playing together normally matters more than faction preference.

Ignoring the third faction.

Every fight contains two enemies even when only one is currently visible.

Always ask where the other team is.

Attacking whichever faction is closest.

The closest enemy may not be the biggest strategic threat.

Watch score and objective control.

Treating community memes as game mechanics.

“Blue always loses,” “Green has better gear,” or “Red gets stronger guns” are not substitutes for verified systems.

Separate jokes, trends, and facts.

WARDOGS Factions FAQ

What Are the Three Factions in WARDOGS?

The three factions are Lonestar, Valkyra, and Manticore. BULKHEAD's official FAQ confirms all three compete in the core three-team Control Zone mode.

What Color Is Lonestar?

Blue

Lonestar is the blue team in current live faction references.

What Color Is Valkyra?

Red

Valkyra is represented by red.

What Color Is Manticore?

Green

Manticore is the green faction.

Do WARDOGS Factions Have Different Weapons?

Not in the Current Verified Early Access Build

Current references show the factions sharing the same underlying armory rather than using exclusive weapon trees. Faction-branded starter weapons in the Supporter Pack are cosmetics.

Do Factions Have Different Vehicles?

No Confirmed Exclusive Vehicle Trees Currently Exist

Current live information does not show separate Lonestar, Valkyra, and Manticore tank or helicopter progression. Vehicle access follows Driver, Pilot, Career, cash, and unlock progression instead.

Is Manticore Better?

Green Currently Performs Well, but It Has No Confirmed Stat Advantage

Recent September 2026 reporting citing BULKHEAD's internal data says Green wins most frequently overall, but that does not establish a mechanical Manticore combat bonus.

Is Valkyra Better?

Valkyra Is Currently Competitive, but Its Equipment Is Not Stronger by Faction

Red is reported as relatively close to Green in current results, while weapons, roles, and progression remain mechanically shared.

Why Does Lonestar Lose So Much?

BULKHEAD Has Acknowledged a Current Blue-Team Balance Problem

Recent reporting quotes the developer as saying Blue is being beaten significantly more often for “mixed reasons.” Community theories include team-selection behavior, experienced-player migration, spawn geometry, and a self-reinforcing reputation, but no single cause has been officially established as the complete explanation.

Is Lonestar Weaker?

Not Through Confirmed Weapons, Vehicles, Health, Armor, or Damage Statistics

Blue's current match-performance issue should not be interpreted as evidence of weaker equipment unless BULKHEAD publishes such a difference. Current faction references continue to show shared equipment access.

Which WARDOGS Faction Should I Choose?

Choose the faction that lets you play with your squad first, then use lore and visual preference as the secondary factors.

Current factions do not provide confirmed combat-stat differences, so coordinated teammates create a much more meaningful advantage than choosing a particular flag for theoretical performance. If playing solo, judge the actual server and team coordination instead of assuming one color automatically guarantees a better match.

Are the Factions Permanent?

Your Team Selection Defines Which Side You Fight For During the Current Match Context, While WARDOGS Uses a Drop-In/Drop-Out Team System

The official FAQ confirms that players select a team when joining and must do so before becoming active. Exact current restrictions on changing sides once deployed can be adjusted during Early Access, so use the live team-selection interface rather than relying on older beta instructions.

Final WARDOGS Faction Tips

WARDOGS makes the faction choice look more complicated than it currently is.

You see three armies.

Three colors.

Three identities.

Different visual themes.

Different lore.

It is natural to expect:

Different weapon trees.

Different tanks.

Check out some of our most popular WARDOGS services:

Different abilities.

Different passives.

But in the current Early Access build, that is not how the system works.

The factions are:

Lonestar – Blue.

Western paramilitary identity.

Valkyra – Red.

Soviet-restorationist identity.

Manticore – Green.

Kingdom of Persia shadow-force identity.

They currently share the fundamental combat systems.

Same economy structure.

Same role framework.

Same general equipment access.

Same objective.

Same scoring rules.

BULKHEAD's official core mode puts all three into the same competition:

Most presence inside the Control Zone when the 30-second scoring check occurs.

One point.

First to 100 wins.

So which faction should you choose?

For most players:

Choose your squad first.

If your friends are playing Valkyra, play Valkyra.

If your organized group is entering as Lonestar, join Lonestar.

If your team is already established on Manticore, use Manticore.

A coordinated squad gives you something a faction name cannot.

Communication.

Revives.

Transport.

Vehicle crew.

FOB logistics.

Recon information.

Objective timing.

That wins fights.

For solo players:

Look at the actual match.

Do people communicate?

Are helicopters transporting players?

Are Medics working?

Are Drivers moving squads?

Is the team fighting over the Hot Zone?

Is Support building useful infrastructure?

A faction that looks strong on an aggregate graph can still be awful on your specific server.

A faction with a poor reputation can still have one excellent organized group that changes the entire match.

The current Lonestar situation proves why this distinction matters.

As of mid-September 2026, BULKHEAD has acknowledged that Blue is underperforming significantly in its match data, while Green currently performs best and Red remains relatively close.

That is real.

But the correct interpretation is:

There is a current team-balance problem.

Not:

Lonestar has weaker guns.

Current evidence does not show that.

Community behavior may actually be helping sustain the imbalance.

If experienced players believe:

“Blue always loses”

and therefore avoid Blue...

Blue receives fewer experienced players.

Blue loses more.

More players believe Blue loses.

The reputation strengthens.

Recent reporting has specifically highlighted this self-fulfilling element.

That is a social balance problem layered on top of a game-balance problem.

And WARDOGS is especially sensitive to that because teamwork matters so much.

One coordinated Driver can deliver an entire group.

One Medic can restore several bodies to the Control Zone.

One Support team can establish a strategic FOB.

One helicopter crew can relocate a squad.

One organized tank crew can control a major route.

Thirty players all doing random things can lose to fewer players who are working together.

That is why the faction question ultimately becomes much simpler.

Do not ask only:

“Which faction is strongest?”

Ask:

“Which faction gives me the best team to actually play with right now?”

Then use lore and visual preference to break the tie.

Choose Lonestar if you like the blue Western-contractor identity.

Choose Valkyra if you prefer the red Soviet-restorationist theme.

Choose Manticore if the green Persian shadow-force theme appeals to you.

You are not sacrificing a secret damage bonus by choosing the wrong one.

And because WARDOGS remains in Early Access, this system can evolve. Players are already asking for stronger faction identity, including faction-specific vehicles and equipment, but those community requests should not be confused with live mechanics.

If BULKHEAD later introduces:

Exclusive vehicles.

Faction weapons.

Unique bonuses.

Different economies.

Faction-specific progression.

then the answer to “which faction should I choose?” becomes much more complicated.
