What New Loot Was Added in the Borderlands 4 Update?
Version 1.10 launched alongside several separate content additions, so it is important to understand which gear belongs to which purchase.
FL4K and the Last Resort takes place on Providence and adds 8 story bosses plus 13 minibosses. Gearbox's official update notes list two Pearlescents—Astonisher and Quadratus—along with 18 new Legendary gear pieces and six new Legendary Class Mods.
Amara and the Vile Shadows is the repeatable mission portion of Bounty Pack 5. It adds one boss and two minibosses capable of dropping AeroDramatic, the pack's Pearlescent weapon, plus six new Legendary pieces.
Vault Card 5 is separate from the narrative Bounty Pack content. It contains four additional rerollable Legendaries earned through its own reward system rather than conventional boss farming.
Version 1.10 also increased the maximum level by 10, meaning the current character cap is 70. If you are farming an ideal long-term roll, reaching level 70 before committing hours to repeated boss kills is usually the better use of your time.

Best New Legendary and Pearlescent Drops to Farm First
Not every new weapon deserves the same priority.
Some have strong mechanics that work across many builds. Others are powerful only when you deliberately build around status effects, melee, sliding, reloads, or Tediore interactions.
If you want the shortest practical farming list, these are the items I would investigate first.
Fourier's Malady – excellent Tediore shotgun for copy-based damage.
Its Discontinuous effect can throw an additional copy of the weapon when firing. Current mechanical testing shows that the spawned copies can interact with several Tediore-focused systems, making it especially interesting for builds already designed around reload and thrown-gun damage. Farm Lieutenant Bume in Bagheera Range.
Decompiler – one of Providence's most interesting elemental shotguns.
The Maliwan shotgun comes from Blackgrin in Pyroclast Grotto. Current post-launch testing has repeatedly highlighted it among the stronger Story Pack 2 options, particularly when the roll complements an elemental build.
Devourer – powerful for status-effect detonation setups.
Devourer's Ruin mechanic consumes matching status effects and converts their remaining damage into an immediate damage instance. It becomes much more dangerous when you can stack strong elemental effects before triggering them. Farm Ducky in Pyroclast Field.
Astonisher – the headline Story Pack 2 Pearlescent.
This Ripper shotgun consumes its entire magazine when fired and gains additional damage for every unit of ammunition consumed. Large magazines and reload support therefore matter much more than they would on a conventional shotgun. Farm Lieutenant Harmony after finishing the Providence story.
AeroDramatic – Bounty Pack 5's explosive Pearlescent.
Its BOOM BAM effect fires two rockets that explode after travelling a short distance, with each rocket producing additional homing rockets. That makes it a very different kind of shotgun from Astonisher and particularly attractive for players who enjoy explosive projectile setups. Farm Vile Grasp.
Honeymooner – excellent support for status-heavy builds.
Every hit increases the target's status-effect damage taken by 20% for three seconds, stacking up to five times according to current testing. That can reach a substantial debuff before you unload your real status damage. Farm Megan in Bagheera Range.
Hand Frag – unusual reload-based burst damage.
Reloading fires an additional shotgun blast whose effectiveness scales with how much ammunition you reload. That turns magazine management into part of the damage loop instead of a simple downtime mechanic. Farm RelaxMech in Vinechoked Canopy.
Triplicate – strong sustained-damage option from Bounty Pack 5.
Hits generate Tripled stacks, and each stack causes an additional explosive projectile to appear near the target. Current testing says the effect can stack as high as 20, making it particularly suited to enemies that survive long enough for the mechanic to ramp. Farm The Reject Prototype encounter.
These are not the only useful pieces. They are simply the most interesting places to begin if you want new gear with mechanics capable of changing how a build plays.
Astonisher Pearlescent – Where to Farm It
Astonisher Drop Source
Astonisher drops from Lieutenant Harmony in Tediore FOB Bravo Lima 4.2.
Harmony is the final major boss of FL4K and the Last Resort, so you must progress far enough through Providence's story before the farm becomes practical.
Lootlemon currently lists Astonisher with a 3% base dedicated-drop chance, plus an additional Ultimate Vault Hunter bonus. Those rates can change with later hotfixes, so treat them as current September 2026 values rather than permanent numbers.
Why Astonisher Is Worth Farming
Pure Energy consumes the entire magazine on each firing action and increases damage based on the amount of ammunition consumed.
Current mechanical testing measures the increase at roughly one-thirtieth additional damage per consumed round, functioning as a pure multiplier. Magazine-size increases therefore directly help the weapon's central mechanic.
That immediately tells you what not to do.
Do not evaluate Astonisher like a normal shotgun where fire rate is everything.
You want a roll and build that support:
large magazines, powerful single-shot windows, fast reload recovery, and bonuses that amplify the huge burst rather than only improving sustained fire.
It is a boss-killing weapon by nature.
Quadratus Pearlescent – Where to Farm It
Quadratus Drop Source
Quadratus comes from Providence's Tediore Digi-Rift-exclusive miniboss pool.
Lootlemon currently lists the Pearlescent Vladof Heavy Ordnance at a 3% base chance from the Digi-Rift exclusive source, again with an Ultimate Vault Hunter bonus.
This matters because one of the easiest ways to waste time after the update is assuming both Providence Pearlescents come from Lieutenant Harmony.
They do not.
Astonisher = Lieutenant Harmony.
Quadratus = Digi-Rift miniboss farming.
Current Providence databases identify Digi-Rift bosses such as Cosmicreep and Gutslinger among the enemies that can produce Quadratus, along with Exfoliatrix from the same shared loot pool.
When to Farm Quadratus
Quadratus is more attractive if your build actually wants heavy ordnance.
Do not farm it simply because the item card is Pearlescent.
Pearlescent rarity makes an item rare and mechanically distinctive; it does not automatically mean the weapon fits every character better than an optimized Legendary.
If your build revolves around conventional guns, class skills, melee, or status interactions, another Legendary may provide a larger real-world improvement.
AeroDramatic Pearlescent – Where to Farm It
AeroDramatic Drop Source
AeroDramatic drops from Vile Grasp, the main boss of Amara and the Vile Shadows.
After reaching Vile Grasp in the repeatable Bounty Pack mission, you can defeat the boss and use the nearby Encore functionality to repeat the fight instead of replaying the entire mission from the beginning.
How AeroDramatic Works
AeroDramatic is a Torgue Pearlescent shotgun.
Its BOOM BAM effect fires two rockets. After travelling a short distance, each explodes and produces four homing rockets. Current mechanical testing reports that the homing projectiles benefit from On Shot Gun Damage and Amp effects, but do not interact normally with On Hit Gun Damage.
That makes the gun especially interesting for builds that can amplify projectile bursts rather than only direct bullet impacts.
It is also a strong example of why you should understand a new weapon before deciding whether your drop is bad.
AeroDramatic's damage is distributed across its initial and secondary projectiles. Looking only at the visible card number will not always tell you what the complete firing sequence can produce.
Best New Providence Legendary Weapons
Providence has most of the new loot introduced with Version 1.10, and nearly every item has a dedicated source.
Fourier's Malady
Farm: Lieutenant Bume, Bagheera Range
Type: Tediore Legendary Shotgun
Fourier's Malady has a chance to throw an additional copy of itself when fired.
Current testing shows interactions with several Tediore systems capable of producing even more copies, making this a natural target for characters already invested in Tediore mechanics.
It is one of the first Providence weapons I would test on a max-level Tediore setup.
Decompiler
Farm: Blackgrin, Pyroclast Grotto
Type: Maliwan Legendary Shotgun
Decompiler comes from the boss of the Pyroclast Grotto Occupied Sector.
Its Tinkerer effect and available elemental rolls make it primarily interesting for players who already build around elemental weapon interactions. Current post-launch evaluations place Decompiler among the more attractive weapons from Story Pack 2.
Devourer
Farm: Ducky, Pyroclast Field
Type: Ripper Legendary Sniper Rifle
Devourer's Ruin effect consumes matching status effects already on the target and deals their remaining damage immediately. Current mechanics testing identifies the resulting damage as both status-effect and splash damage.
The weapon therefore gets much better when you deliberately prepare a target first.
Apply status effects.
Build stacks.
Then trigger Devourer.
Used without preparation, you leave much of its special mechanic unused.
Hand Frag
Farm: RelaxMech, Vinechoked Canopy
Type: Daedalus Legendary SMG
Hand Frag fires an additional shotgun blast when you reload.
The amount of ammunition restored influences the strength of that blast, so larger reloads produce a much more meaningful payoff.
A player who constantly reloads after two shots will get much less value from the weapon than someone actually playing around its Deep Pockets mechanic.
Honeymooner
Farm: Megan, Bagheera Range
Type: Maliwan Legendary SMG
Honeymooner is less about raw card damage and more about what happens after repeated hits.
Rising Action increases the target's status-effect damage taken by 20% per stack, with current testing showing five stacks and a 100% total increase when fully ramped.
This makes Honeymooner particularly useful as an enabler.
Build the debuff, apply a powerful status effect, then capitalize on the increased damage.
Critical Decay
Farm: Logistics Manager Reyes, Vinechoked Canopy Digi-Rift
Type: Torgue Legendary Pistol
Critical Decay is Radiation-only.
Whenever an enemy takes Radiation status-effect damage, there is a 30% chance to attach a Torgue sticky. Importantly, current testing indicates that the Radiation effect does not necessarily need to come from Critical Decay itself.
That opens interesting interactions with builds capable of producing Radiation from other skills or equipment.
Hippo Gun
Farm: Kolavalin, Tediore FOB Bravo Lima 4.2
Type: Jakobs Legendary Shotgun
Hippo Gun rewards aggressive movement.
While sliding, its Mud Run effect currently provides major temporary increases to gun damage, reload speed, and melee attack damage, with a short grace period after the slide ends.
For a stationary player, that mechanic is largely wasted.
For a player who is already sliding into every fight, it can become much more valuable.
Avarice
Farm: Vulkorr, Bagheera Range
Type: Order Legendary Assault Rifle
Avarice has one of the strangest mechanics in the update.
Its Money Please effect consumes cash when firing in exchange for +300% damage. Lootlemon currently lists the cost at roughly 4,163 cash per firing action.
Current Mobalytics testing also reports behavior where the damage amplification can persist in unexpected ways after firing and weapon swapping. That sounds potentially unintended, so I would not build your entire long-term setup around that interaction surviving future patches.
Judge Avarice by its intended cash-for-damage identity first.
Anything beyond that should be treated as patch-sensitive behavior.
Every FL4K and the Last Resort Legendary Drop
For players trying to complete the full Providence collection, here are the dedicated sources in clean lines rather than a table.
Lovelorn — Tediore Assault Rifle. Farm Dr. Elena Smith in The Upper Crust. Its special behavior produces kill drones and can generate additional drone pressure during mobbing.
Devourer — Ripper Sniper Rifle. Farm Ducky in Pyroclast Field. Built around consuming matching status effects for immediate damage.
Hand Frag — Daedalus SMG. Farm RelaxMech in Vinechoked Canopy. Reloading produces an additional shotgun-style blast.
Shardenfreude — Daedalus Assault Rifle. Farm Jr. Manager Warrant Baggett in Vinechoked Canopy. Its projectiles stick before being thrown/detonated through the weapon's mode interaction.
Infection — Jakobs Pistol. Farm Lieutenant Harmony. Critical hits can modify its elemental/status behavior, making it suited to precision elemental builds.
Hippo Gun — Jakobs Shotgun. Farm Kolavalin in Tediore FOB Bravo Lima 4.2. Sliding activates its major damage and handling bonuses.
Exhibition — Vladof Sniper Rifle. Farm Drilla Killa in Bagheera Range. It fires splash projectiles in rapid two-round bursts, with certain parts capable of altering its firing behavior.
Avarice — Order Assault Rifle. Farm Vulkorr after unlocking the hidden Substation encounter in Bagheera Range. Firing spends cash for major increased damage.
Virtue — Order Pistol. Obtain it from the Burnt Offering mission rather than ordinary boss farming. Its fully charged shot gains additional projectiles and extra damage.
Petanque — Order Sniper Rifle. Farm Jayson and his Frame in Pyroclast Field. Attached projectiles can move to another target after a kill.
Decompiler — Maliwan Shotgun. Farm Blackgrin in Pyroclast Grotto. It is one of the stronger Story Pack 2 weapons to test for elemental builds.
Honeymooner — Maliwan SMG. Farm Megan in Bagheera Range. Repeated hits increase the status-effect damage the enemy takes.
Fourier's Malady — Tediore Shotgun. Farm Lieutenant Bume in Bagheera Range. Firing has a chance to create another weapon copy.
Ripple — Torgue Assault Rifle. Farm Experiment C-23 inside Tediore FOB Bravo Lima 4.2. Its stickies deal extra Corrosive damage when detonated on targets already affected by Corrosive status.
Critical Decay — Torgue Pistol. Farm Logistics Manager Reyes through the Vinechoked Canopy Digi-Rift. Radiation status ticks can generate extra Torgue stickies.
Exfoliatrix — Jakobs Shield. Farm the Providence Digi-Rift exclusive boss pool, including enemies such as Cosmicreep and Gutslinger. The shield is designed around status-effect interaction and shield recovery.
Font of Life — Tediore Repkit. Farm Volcanus through The Furious Earth world event in Pyroclast Field.
Li'l Brudder — Maliwan Grenade Ordnance. Farm Big Bada Boom Drone in the Shere Cliff Tediore Lockdown. Its spawned grenades can interact with the element of your equipped weapon.
That covers all 18 officially listed Story Pack 2 Legendary gear pieces. Gearbox's Version 1.10 notes independently confirm the complete set of item names.
Best Bounty Pack 5 Loot to Farm
Amara and the Vile Shadows has a much smaller loot pool than Providence, which actually makes targeted farming easier.
AeroDramatic and Clarity – Vile Grasp
Vile Grasp is the major target.
AeroDramatic is the Pearlescent shotgun already covered above.
Clarity is a Maliwan Legendary Sniper Rifle whose Epiphany effect restores 10% of shield capacity when fired according to current mechanical documentation.
Vile Grasp also drops Outburst, a Torgue Repkit. Outburst's Flare Up effect interacts with Torgue stickies, immediately triggering damage while also adding healing when the Repkit is used.
That gives Vile Grasp an unusually useful pool: a Pearlescent weapon, a Legendary gun, and a build-oriented Repkit.
Triplicate and Enumeration – The Reject Prototype
Triplicate is a Vladof Assault Rifle whose stacking mechanic produces more explosive projectiles as you continue landing hits.
Current testing reports up to 20 Tripled stacks, making it far more interesting against durable enemies than against trash that dies instantly.
Enumeration is a Ripper SMG with excellent ammo economy. Reloading refunds 50% of the ammunition spent from the magazine.
If your build regularly burns through magazines, that can make Enumeration noticeably more comfortable during extended fights.
Pragmate and Wind Skimmer – Hybrid Thresher
Pragmate is the clear specialist weapon here.
Each hit grants a Praxis stack that increases the next melee-damage instance by 25%, stacking up to 20 times. That means its maximum setup can add a very large melee bonus before the stacks are consumed.
For a melee character, this can be exciting.
For a build that almost never uses melee damage, much of the Legendary effect is wasted.
Wind Skimmer is a Jakobs Sniper Rifle whose Higher Ground effect reduces shot cost to one while you are airborne.
It rewards a very different style: jump, glide, or otherwise remain airborne while firing to take advantage of its ammo behavior.
What About Vault Card 5 Legendaries?
Vault Card 5 is a separate purchase from the Amara and the Vile Shadows mission, so do not assume owning one automatically gives you the other.
Current Vault Card 5 data lists four rerollable Legendary items.
Tempered Essence is a Vladof SMG that has a chance to launch a special fist dealing melee and grenade-related damage. Current testing reports a 10% firing chance for the effect and substantial special scaling.
Flash Fuel is a Jakobs Assault Rifle whose damage increases with Heat. Above roughly 50% Heat, the weapon converts its damage to Incendiary.
Shield Overflow is a Daedalus Pistol that grants a small amount of Overshield on hit.
Alignment is an Order grenade-style Ordnance reward associated with Vault Card 5. Current guides describe it as tracking enemies and creating a temporary stationary firing effect after reaching its target.
Because these come through Vault Card progression rather than boss farming, they should be treated as a parallel loot track rather than part of your Providence or Bounty Pack boss loop.
New Legendary Class Mods From Story Pack 2
Story Pack 2 adds one new Legendary Class Mod for each current Vault Hunter.
The current names are:
GOAT for Vex
Masochist for Rafa
Programmer for Loveless
Table Hopper for C4SH
Ultracapacitor for Harlowe
Wastelander for Amon
Current Providence testing indicates the Class Mods are part of a shared Story Pack boss pool rather than each having one dedicated boss. In practice, this means you should farm whichever Providence boss you can kill quickly while simultaneously chasing that boss's dedicated weapon.
That is much more efficient than farming random Providence bosses only for a Class Mod.
If you need Astonisher, farm Harmony and let the Class Mod be a secondary objective.
If you need Fourier's Malady, farm Bume.
If you need Avarice, farm Vulkorr.
Combine farms whenever possible.
How Big Encore Changes New Loot Farming
The Big Encore system is one of the most important parts of efficient dedicated-drop farming.
Once an eligible boss has been defeated and its encounter is unlocked for replay, Encore allows you to immediately rerun the fight instead of repeating a full mission or constantly travelling back through the zone.
Lootlemon currently shows considerably higher dedicated-drop values for Encore versions of many named Legendary farms. For example, both Fourier's Malady and Avarice are listed with a 9% normal base dedicated chance but a much larger Encore dedicated chance in current data.
The important practical lesson is:
Do the setup once. Farm through Encore afterward whenever the encounter supports it.
Your real enemy during a long farming session is not just RNG.
It is downtime.
Driving.
Loading.
Walking back to arenas.
Repeating mission dialogue.
Inventory cleanup after every kill.
Cut those things down and you dramatically increase the number of useful attempts you can make.
Should You Farm on the Highest UVH Difficulty?
Higher difficulty can improve loot opportunities, but farming efficiency is still about kills per real-world hour.
Lootlemon's current data shows UVH bonuses being added to several dedicated drop rates. Astonisher, Quadratus, Fourier's Malady, Avarice, Critical Decay, and other new items all list additional UVH bonuses.
That does not mean you should automatically use the highest tier you have unlocked.
If your boss kill takes:
45 seconds on one setting,
but four minutes on the next,
the higher drop modifier may not compensate for the enormous reduction in attempts.
Use the hardest setting your build can still clear quickly and consistently.
A dead Vault Hunter earns no loot.
A boss that becomes a five-minute damage sponge is not an efficient farm.
Farm Level 70 Gear Before Chasing Perfect Rolls
Version 1.10 increased the level cap to 70.
That means a beautiful level 64 roll is still going to become temporary equipment if your intention is to build a max-level endgame loadout.
There is nothing wrong with taking a good weapon while leveling.
There is also nothing wrong with farming one or two pieces that make the trip to 70 much faster.
What you should avoid is spending several hours chasing:
the perfect element, the perfect manufacturer parts, the perfect Firmware combination, and the perfect secondary stats—
only to replace the item shortly afterward.
Reach level 70 first when you are chasing permanent endgame rolls.
Then begin the serious farm.
Common New-Loot Farming Mistakes
Farming Harmony for Quadratus
Harmony drops Astonisher.
Quadratus belongs to Providence's Digi-Rift-exclusive boss pool.
Ignoring Mission Rewards
Not every new Legendary is a repeatable boss drop.
Virtue is tied to the Burnt Offering mission.
Assuming Pearlescent Means Automatically Better
Pearlescent items are rare and mechanically unique.
That does not make every Pearlescent the optimal choice for every build.
A fully synergized Legendary can outperform a Pearlescent that does not interact with your skills.
Farming a Specialized Weapon on the Wrong Build
Pragmate is built around melee.
Critical Decay wants Radiation interaction.
Honeymooner amplifies status-effect damage.
Hippo Gun wants you sliding.
Do not judge those weapons while completely ignoring their intended mechanic.
Following Day-One Loot Information Forever
The update is still new.
Drop pools, bugged interactions, damage formulas, and even apparent "best" weapons can shift as players test more combinations or Gearbox applies hotfixes.
For example, current testing has identified unusual behavior around Avarice's amp effect. Treat potentially unintended interactions as temporary until patches establish otherwise.
Borderlands 4 New Legendary and Pearlescent Loot FAQ
How many new Pearlescent weapons arrived with the September update?
Across Story Pack 2 and Bounty Pack 5's narrative content, there are three major new Pearlescents: Astonisher, Quadratus, and AeroDramatic. Story Pack 2 contributes two, while Amara and the Vile Shadows contributes one.
Where does Astonisher drop?
Lieutenant Harmony in Tediore FOB Bravo Lima 4.2.
Where does Quadratus drop?
From the Tediore Digi-Rift-exclusive miniboss pool on Providence.
Where does AeroDramatic drop?
Vile Grasp in Amara and the Vile Shadows.
What are some of the best new Legendaries to farm first?
Fourier's Malady, Decompiler, Devourer, Honeymooner, Hand Frag, Critical Decay, and Triplicate are among the most interesting early targets because their special mechanics can significantly alter damage loops rather than simply offering higher card stats. Which is best depends on your Vault Hunter and build.
Does every Providence Legendary come from a boss?
No. Virtue is obtained through Burnt Offering rather than an ordinary dedicated boss source.
Can the new Class Mods drop from any Providence boss?
Current post-launch data indicates that the six Story Pack 2 Class Mods use a shared Providence boss pool rather than individual dedicated sources.
Do I need Loveless to obtain Story Pack 2 gear?
Loveless is sold separately from the Story Pack 2 narrative content. Providence, its missions, and its gear belong to FL4K and the Last Resort rather than requiring ownership of the Loveless playable character.
Should I farm before reaching level 70?
Farm enough gear to keep progressing comfortably, but wait until level 70 before spending large amounts of time chasing perfect permanent rolls.
Conclusion
The newest Borderlands 4 update gives loot hunters several very different reasons to keep farming.
Astonisher is the major Providence burst-damage Pearlescent.
Quadratus gives Digi-Rifts a unique high-rarity target.
AeroDramatic brings a completely different explosive projectile loop to Bounty Pack 5.
Among the Legendaries, Fourier's Malady, Decompiler, Devourer, Honeymooner, Hand Frag, Critical Decay, and Triplicate are excellent places to start because their effects create meaningful build interactions rather than simply adding more raw weapon damage.
The most important rule is to farm intelligently.
Identify the exact dedicated source.
Reach level 70 before chasing perfect rolls.
Use Big Encore whenever possible.
Choose a UVH difficulty that you can clear quickly.
And judge each item by how well its unique mechanic fits your build—not simply by rarity or card damage.
Once those pieces are in place, the new update becomes much less about randomly hoping for orange or Pearlescent beams and much more about targeting exactly the weapon your build needs.
Players who want help reaching the new level cap, completing difficult encounters, or preparing characters for endgame loot farming can also explore gaming services through BoostRoom.
