How to Break Into the Arcatraz

The final access quest requires two separate key fragments from the other Tempest Keep dungeons.

The Bottom Shard of the Arcatraz Key is obtained from Pathaleon the Calculator, the final boss of The Mechanar. The Top Shard is obtained from Warp Splinter, the final boss of The Botanica.

After both shards are collected, they can be returned to A'dal to receive the Key to the Arcatraz.

The Mechanar Key Shard

The Mechanar portion of the service requires progression to Pathaleon the Calculator and obtaining the Bottom Shard of the Arcatraz Key.

These are separate objectives and should not be treated as the same key.

Do You Always Need Your Own Arcatraz Key?

No. Only one member of the party needs the Key to the Arcatraz to open the dungeon entrance. A Rogue with sufficient Lockpicking skill can also open the gate.

Owning your own key removes the need to rely on another group member whenever you want to access the dungeon and also completes the associated character progression.

Why Arcatraz Access Matters

The Arcatraz is involved in several important TBC Classic progression paths in addition to its own dungeon rewards.

This product is specifically for obtaining dungeon access rather than repeatedly clearing The Arcatraz for loot or other rewards.

Flying Access to Tempest Keep
