What Is Map Completion in Guild Wars 2?

Map completion is the process of finishing every required exploration objective within an open-world zone.

Depending on the selected map, this can include:

• Unlocking all waypoints

• Discovering all points of interest

• Viewing every vista

• Completing renown hearts

• Completing hero challenges

• Reaching hidden or difficult objectives required by the map tracker

Once every required objective has been completed, the character receives the zone’s map-completion reward chest.

Map-completion progress is character-specific. Completing a zone on one character does not automatically mark that map as complete on every other character.

Shipwreck Strand Map Completion

Shipwreck Strand is the coastal entry zone of Castora. Its completion tracker includes three waypoints, three renown hearts, 41 points of interest, 15 hero challenges and six vistas.

Completing the map awards:

• Gift of Shipwreck Strand Exploration

• A random exotic equipment item

• A guaranteed Transmutation Charge

• Experience and coin

• An additional Transmutation Charge or a rare chance at a Black Lion Chest Key

The Gift of Shipwreck Strand Exploration is used in advanced Visions of Eternity crafting, including progression connected to the expansion’s legendary aquabreather rewards.

Starlit Weald Map Completion

Starlit Weald is a magical forest filled with ancient seer ruins and connects Shipwreck Strand with Eternity’s Garden.

Its map tracker includes three waypoints, three renown hearts, 43 points of interest, 15 hero challenges and five vistas.

Completing Starlit Weald awards:

• Gift of Starlit Weald Exploration

• A random exotic equipment item

• A guaranteed Transmutation Charge

• Experience and coin

• An additional Transmutation Charge or a rare chance at a Black Lion Chest Key

The Gift of Starlit Weald Exploration is also used in high-level Visions of Eternity crafting collections.

Eternity’s Garden Map Completion

Eternity’s Garden is the third released Castora zone and contains dense jungle areas, ancient seer temples, Inquest fortifications and the Shackles of the Ancients meta event.

Completing this map awards the Gift of Eternity’s Garden Exploration. This item is a component of the Gift of Galdra, which is required for crafting the Stella Radians legendary accessory.

Eternity’s Garden completion is therefore particularly useful for players preparing:

• Stella Radians legendary progression

• Gift of Galdra

• Expansion exploration rewards

• Easier navigation between Shadowstone Fragment events and vendors

• Additional character access across Eternity’s Garden

Shadowstone Fragments are the account-bound map currency for Eternity’s Garden. Map completion does not guarantee a selected quantity of fragments, but unlocking the zone’s travel points and locations can make continued farming more convenient.

Map Completion Versus Map Mastery

Standard map completion and a map’s Mastery achievement are different objectives.

Map completion focuses on the exploration icons shown by the world map: waypoints, points of interest, vistas, hearts and hero challenges.

The separate Shipwreck Strand, Starlit Weald and Eternity’s Garden Mastery achievements require wider achievement collections. Each current map Mastery asks players to complete 36 achievements from its associated category. These broader objectives are only included when specifically stated in the offer.

No. Zone completion is recorded separately for each character. Waypoints and exploration objectives completed on one character do not automatically complete the map for another character.
