The WoW Midnight Season 2 weekly checklist is much larger than simply opening the Great Vault. Every reset gives players another opportunity to progress through the Venomous Abyss raid, Mythic+, Bountiful Delves, the Tidebound Grotto Lair, Prey Hunts, World activities, Coffer Keys, Mistcrests, tier-set gear, and Coiled Isle progression.
One of the first things to check after reset is your Great Vault.
The Vault contains rewards generated by the Raid, Dungeon, and World objectives you completed during the previous week.
You select only one reward, even if you unlocked several choices. Any unlocked Vault slot can also offer a Season 2 tier-set item, including Dungeon and World slots.
Before taking an item, check:
Whether it completes your 2-piece or 4-piece tier bonus
Whether you plan to raid before choosing
Whether a weapon or trinket is a bigger upgrade
Whether another item has better long-term upgrade potential
Whether the item would be useful after Catalyst conversion
Whether your available alternatives are better than taking gear
A Vault item can be one of your strongest upgrades of the week, so do not select the first item simply because it has the highest item level.
Even players who mainly raid or run Mythic+ can benefit from the World row.
World activities that count toward Great Vault progress include Delves, Prey, zone events, weekly quests, and Assignments.
That makes it possible to create strong additional choices without changing your primary playstyle.
Venomous Abyss is the main Season 2 raid and one of the highest-priority weekly activities for organized PvE players.
Raid Great Vault choices unlock after:
2 raid bosses
4 raid bosses
6 raid bosses
The difficulty of the bosses you defeat determines the quality of the corresponding Raid Vault choices.
Defeating six qualifying bosses unlocks all three Raid-row choices.
More options increase your chance of receiving:
A tier piece
A strong weapon
A raid trinket
A late-boss armor item
A Very Rare reward
A replacement for a weak slot
You still choose only one item, but three choices provide much better protection against bad luck.
If your group can reliably defeat bosses on Heroic, prioritize Heroic kills over repeating easier content solely for Vault progress.
Season 2 makes Heroic raid progression especially valuable because higher-difficulty raid Vault rewards have been improved substantially compared with direct boss drops.

If your character is still missing an important set bonus, these bosses should remain weekly priorities.
A raid boss can remain useful even when most of its normal armor is no longer an upgrade.

Very Rare weapons
Special-effect equipment
Ula’tek loot
Great Vault progression
Efficient raiding is about targeting useful loot tables rather than clearing lower difficulties automatically.
The Tidebound Grotto is Season 2’s instanced Lair encounter against Nymrissa Wavecaller.
Nymrissa can be fought from World difficulty through flexible Mythic and drops raid-level equipment appropriate to the selected difficulty. Most importantly for weekly progression, defeating her contributes to the Raid row of the Great Vault.
The Lair can provide:
Raid-level armor
Weapons
A ring
A trinket
Mistcrests
Raid Vault progress
Housing décor
Higher-difficulty progression
Because the encounter contains only one boss, it can provide useful raid-style progression without requiring a full Venomous Abyss clear.
If your group can defeat Nymrissa on Heroic or Mythic, there is little gearing reason to prioritize the easier version first unless you specifically need a cosmetic or practice.
Choose the difficulty that offers meaningful equipment for your character.
Mythic+ remains one of the most important repeatable gearing systems in Season 2.
The Dungeon row of the Great Vault unlocks after:
1 dungeon
4 dungeons
8 dungeons
For Mythic+, the three reward levels are based on your highest, fourth-highest, and eighth-highest completed keys.
If you have limited time, completing one high-quality Mythic+ run is far better than ignoring the Dungeon row completely.
Your first Dungeon Vault option uses your highest completed key.
Four completions unlock two Dungeon choices.
The second option is based on your fourth-highest completion.
This makes four strong runs one of the best balances between time investment and Great Vault value.
Eight completions unlock all three Dungeon slots.
The third reward uses your eighth-highest key.
If your goal is three strong choices, do not complete one difficult key and then fill the remaining runs with very low levels.
Try to keep the quality of your completions reasonably consistent.
The best weekly Keystone depends on your character.
Current Season 2 reward scaling gives Myth-track Great Vault gear beginning at +10.
That makes +10 one of the major weekly endgame targets for geared Mythic+ players.
Run the highest difficulty you can complete reliably.
A slightly lower key completed cleanly can provide:

Repeatedly failing a higher key provides less value than consistently clearing a slightly easier level.

At this point, direct Hero gear may matter less than your weekly Vault and upgrade currency.
Bountiful Delves become an important weekly activity for solo players, alts, and players building the World row of the Great Vault.
Season 2 adds The Ring of Glory and Gnarldor Isle alongside existing Midnight Delves, while Venomfall Deeps serves as the Azta’rec Nemesis challenge. Blizzard confirms that Bountiful Delves and Coffer Keys are part of Season 2 endgame progression.
Tier 8 is the key standard gearing breakpoint for Delve players because it can generate strong World Vault rewards while remaining substantially more accessible than the highest challenge tiers.
World Vault quality is improved by completing higher-level Delves instead of relying only on basic World activities.
Bountiful Coffers require Restored Coffer Keys.
Midnight uses Coffer Key Shards as the primary renewable source of keys. One hundred Shards are converted into one Restored Coffer Key, and the current Midnight system caps normal Shard earnings at 600 per week, effectively allowing up to six keys from Shards before other special sources are considered.
Do not spend every key on a low tier if your character can already reach stronger rewards.
A good Bountiful Delve target is one where:
The Coffer reward track is still useful
You can complete the Delve reliably
You need a Catalyst candidate
You want World Vault progress
You are gearing an alt
You need Delver’s Journey progression
Saving every key indefinitely is not useful either.
If an upgrade helps you reach harder content, spend the key.
Trovehunter’s Bounty is a special Delve map that creates a Hidden Trove containing stronger rewards after an eligible Delve.
The item is currently obtainable once per week per character.
Do not immediately activate the map before a low-tier run.
Use it before the highest Delve tier you can confidently complete.
At Tier 8 or higher, the Hidden Trove can provide Hero-track gear.
Because the map is a weekly opportunity, leaving it unused can mean missing one of the strongest solo gearing rewards available to your character.
Check your inventory before the reset.
The World row is one of the most flexible parts of Midnight’s weekly progression.
You unlock World choices after completing:
2 qualifying activities
4 qualifying activities
8 qualifying activities
Eligible activities include Delves, Prey, zone events, weekly quests, and Assignments.
Ordinary World events count toward progress but provide low baseline reward quality.
Higher-tier Delves raise the quality of your World Vault choices.
That means a strong strategy is to use World activities to help fill the row while completing high-level Delves to improve its gear quality.
Any earned Great Vault slot has a chance to contain tier gear, including the World row.
This makes World objectives particularly useful for players still missing their class-set bonus.
Prey receives a full Season 2 update with new targets, affixes, Coiled Isle Hunts, Nightmare difficulty, and Curse of the Isle.
The Season 2 weekly Hunt limit has been increased to 15 Hunts.
You do not need to complete all 15 unless Prey is one of your main progression systems.

Season 2 successful Hunts also interact with the new Coiled Isle Corrosion systems.
Normal, Hard, and Nightmare offer different challenge levels.
Choose a difficulty that allows consistent completions.
Nightmare is useful for players pursuing higher-end Prey rewards and Coiled Isle systems, but repeatedly failing is less efficient than completing an easier Hunt.
The Season 2 Prey Journey unlocks several useful progression bonuses.
Some of these create weekly opportunities that are easy to forget.
At the appropriate Journey unlock, Afflicted Souls found from qualifying Bountiful Delves can be used during a Nightmare Hunt to speed up the Hunt and provide bonus Champion-track equipment.
The bonus equipment is available once per week per character.
A later Journey unlock allows Tormented Souls to provide bonus Hero-track equipment through the same general system.
That reward is also available once per week per character.
If you have these Journey upgrades unlocked, check whether you have claimed the bonus before reset.
Corrosive Souls unlock powers through the Altar of Corrosion.
