Reputation is a major part of WoW Forever progression. Factions can unlock gear, profession recipes, mounts, quests, travel benefits, raid-related rewards, and Legacy progress. This guide explains how reputation works, which factions matter most, how to farm them efficiently, and which reputations are worth prioritizing.
Reputation measures your relationship with the different factions spread across Azeroth.
Some factions begin friendly toward you.
Others are neutral.
A few may initially be hostile and require you to earn their trust before you can safely interact with them.
The traditional reputation standings remain:
Hated → Hostile → Unfriendly → Neutral → Friendly → Honored → Revered → Exalted
The standard progression requirements retained in Forever's faction database are:
Neutral to Friendly: 3,000 reputation
Friendly to Honored: 6,000 reputation
Honored to Revered: 12,000 reputation
Revered to Exalted: 21,000 reputation
Forever database pages for factions such as Stormwind, Orgrimmar, the Gelkis Clan, and Thorium Brotherhood continue to use this familiar structure.
You can earn reputation in several ways depending on the faction:
quests,
enemy kills,
dungeon or raid clears,
repeatable item turn-ins,
profession materials,
special faction objectives,
and other faction-specific activities.
There is no universal reputation farming method.
Every faction has its own rules.
That is why understanding the faction before starting the grind can save enormous amounts of time.
Reputation already mattered in Classic WoW.
Forever gives it another purpose.
Blizzard's new Legacy System includes challenges based around maximizing reputations. Completing Legacy Challenges earns Legacy Points that contribute toward account-wide progression and cosmetic rewards.
That means reaching Exalted can potentially reward you in two different ways:
the faction's own rewards
and
progress toward your wider Legacy account.
For completion-focused players, reputations are no longer isolated grinds that only matter to one character.
They become part of the larger Forever journey.
Forever's current Legacy data includes an especially useful reputation perk called Diplomat.
Diplomat appears in the Resourcefulness tree and increases reputation gains by 2% per rank, with five ranks shown in current data.

However, Legacy perks are still part of a newly introduced Forever system.
Their exact tuning can change.
Treat the current percentage as current Forever data, rather than assuming Blizzard can never adjust it.

Forever is not simply carrying forward old Classic reputations.
Blizzard is adding new factions and expanding existing ones.
Several newly announced zones specifically include new reputation progression.
Mount Hyjal is a dedicated level-60 Forever zone, and Blizzard has confirmed that it contains new reputations alongside quests, rewards, solo content, and group activities.
This makes Hyjal reputation particularly important for endgame players.
Exact faction names, quartermasters, standing requirements, and complete reward tables have not all been publicly documented yet.
That means it would be premature to claim that a specific Hyjal faction must be your first Exalted grind.
What is confirmed is that Hyjal reputation will be part of level-60 progression.
Players should expect to encounter these factions naturally while completing the zone rather than treating Hyjal solely as a raid entrance.
Mount Hyjal connects several endgame systems:
quests,
group content,
reputations,
rewards,
and raid progression.
That makes Hyjal one of the strongest places to combine reputation farming with other character goals.
Whenever possible, prefer reputation activities that also advance:
gear,
quests,
professions,
Legacy Challenges,
or raid preparation.
That makes the grind feel much more efficient than farming reputation in isolation.
Riverglades is another major Forever addition.
Blizzard has confirmed that the zone contains new reputations and rewards, alongside more than 150 quests and a large mid-level questing experience.
Because Riverglades spans much of the mid-level journey, characters may begin earning reputation there before level 60.
This creates an important advantage:
you may be able to build reputation naturally while leveling instead of returning later to grind from zero.
Do the relevant Riverglades quests while they are level-appropriate.
Pay attention to which factions reward you.
Do not automatically skip reputation-related chains because another quest gives slightly more XP.
A little reputation accumulated naturally through leveling can remove a significant amount of farming later.
The complete Riverglades faction reward structure is not yet fully public, so exact Exalted priorities should wait until those rewards are properly documented.
Desolace receives one of the most interesting reputation updates in Forever.
Blizzard has specifically confirmed that centaur faction quests receive additional content and faction rewards.
The two key traditional factions are:
Gelkis Clan Centaur
and
Magram Clan Centaur.
Forever's database retains both factions and their full reputation-standing structure.
Historically, these clans are enemies.
Helping one damages your reputation with the other.
For example, the Forever version of Gelkis Alliance requires Friendly standing with the Gelkis and awards Gelkis reputation while reducing Magram reputation. The Magram equivalent works in the opposite direction.
That makes this reputation different from a straightforward grind.
Your choice matters.
Before killing large numbers of centaur, decide which side you actually want to support.
Randomly killing both factions can leave you making little meaningful progress.
This is particularly important in Forever.
Traditional Classic guides may say that the Gelkis and Magram reputations have limited value.
Forever is explicitly expanding their quests and faction rewards.
That means older judgments about whether the grind is worthwhile may no longer apply.
Evaluate the Forever reward tables, not simply what the factions offered in Vanilla.
Forever adds a new Shen'dralas region connected to the Shen'dralar, Dire Maul, Desolace, the centaur tribes, Razorfen Downs, and Maraudon.
The Shen'dralar reputation itself also exists in Forever's current database.
Traditional Shen'dralar progression revolves heavily around Dire Maul and repeatable Libram turn-ins.

However, Forever's new Shen'dralas zone creates an important uncertainty.
Blizzard is clearly expanding Shen'dralar-related content, but the complete revised reputation route has not yet been documented.
Therefore, do not spend large amounts of gold stockpiling old Libram turn-in materials simply because they were needed in traditional Classic.
New Forever quests may provide additional reputation.
New rewards may change which standing matters.
And Blizzard may adjust the most efficient progression route.
Forever's new factions are exciting, but several established Azeroth reputations remain highly relevant.
The Argent Dawn is one of the most important high-level Classic reputations.
Forever's faction database retains the Argent Dawn and its traditional connections to:
Western Plaguelands,
Eastern Plaguelands,
Scholomance,
Stratholme,
and later Scourge-related progression.
Traditional reputation methods include killing appropriate undead, clearing high-level dungeons, defeating bosses, collecting Scourgestones while properly equipped, and completing Argent Dawn quests and repeatable objectives.
The exact efficiency of each method depends on your standing.
Some ordinary enemies stop granting reputation after particular thresholds, while stronger dungeon targets and turn-ins remain useful later.
That makes Argent Dawn a perfect example of why you should understand a reputation before grinding it.
Argent Dawn reputation has historically supported:
profession recipes,
special equipment,
resistance rewards,
high-level dungeon progression,
and reduced costs for certain endgame requirements.
Forever's itemization and progression can change the relative value of individual rewards, so check the Forever versions before farming strictly for an old Classic Best-in-Slot item.
But the faction itself remains deeply connected to some of Azeroth's most important high-level content.
Crafters should pay particular attention to the Thorium Brotherhood.
The Forever database retains the faction and its traditional Blackrock-related progression.
Thorium Brotherhood reputation historically relies heavily on material turn-ins such as:
Incendosaur Scales,
Dark Iron Residue,
Dark Iron Ore,
Core Leather,
Fiery Cores,
Lava Cores,
and Blood of the Mountain.
The required material changes depending on your reputation standing.
This makes Thorium Brotherhood a reputation that connects directly to the economy.
You can:
farm materials yourself,
buy them from other players,
or combine both approaches.
Classic Thorium Brotherhood rewards include numerous Blacksmithing, Leatherworking, and Tailoring recipes.
Forever already adds more than 600 profession recipes throughout the game, so crafting-focused players should carefully examine how Thorium Brotherhood recipes fit into the new profession ecosystem rather than dismissing them based on older guides.
If you do not use one of the relevant professions, pushing all the way to Exalted may be less urgent.
Timbermaw Hold is another classic reputation worth understanding.
The Timbermaw furbolgs control the tunnel connecting Felwood, Moonglade, and Winterspring.
Players begin hostile with them.
Once your reputation improves sufficiently, they stop attacking you, making travel through the tunnel considerably easier.

Traditional Hydraxian progression involves killing particular elementals and eventually enemies and bosses connected to Molten Core. Classic reputation data also links the faction to the Quintessence mechanics historically used inside the raid.
Forever is reworking and expanding raid content over time, so exact raid requirements should always be checked against Forever rather than assumed from Vanilla.
Still, the presence of the Hydraxian Waterlords faction in the Forever database makes it relevant for players interested in old-world raid progression.
The Cenarion Circle becomes important around Silithus and Ahn'Qiraj-related content.
Forever's database retains the faction.
Traditional progression includes:
Silithus quests,
Twilight enemies,
Encrypted Twilight Text turn-ins,
summoned elemental enemies,
and Ahn'Qiraj content.
Cenarion reputation can also unlock gear and profession-related rewards.
This is another reputation where combining activities makes sense.
If you need Silithus materials, quest completion, raid preparation, and Cenarion reputation, work on them together.
Do not farm reputation separately when one route can advance multiple goals.
The Zandalar Tribe is linked to Zul'Gurub.
The faction exists in the Forever database and retains a traditional reputation structure tied to Zul'Gurub enemies, bosses, coins, bijous, and faction turn-ins.
Traditional rewards include class-oriented gear progression, enchants, consumable rewards, and other raid-related benefits.
However, raid itemization is an area Forever is actively willing to change.
Before investing heavily in Zandalar reputation specifically for one old reward, check whether that item or enchant functions the same way in Forever.
The reputation itself remains a strong example of raid content and reputation progression happening simultaneously.
The Brood of Nozdormu is another raid-associated reputation retained in the Forever database.
Traditional progression is heavily associated with Ahn'Qiraj.
Reputation levels contribute toward access to class-set reward quests, with different pieces historically requiring different standings.
For players eventually pursuing Ahn'Qiraj progression, this is not a reputation you necessarily farm independently.
Much of the reputation naturally comes from doing the raid content associated with the rewards.
That is often the best kind of reputation grind:
you advance it while already doing content you wanted to complete.
Your racial capital factions also remain part of Forever.
Examples include:
Stormwind,
Ironforge,
Darnassus,
Gnomeregan Exiles,
Orgrimmar,

Forever's database retains the standard faction standings for capital reputations such as Stormwind, Orgrimmar, and Thunder Bluff.
Questing naturally builds reputation with your own faction and allied cities.
Capital reputations traditionally become especially interesting to mount collectors because Exalted standing can allow characters to purchase another race's racial mounts where the riding requirements permit it. The Forever Orgrimmar database still describes Exalted reputation as the route for non-Orcs seeking wolf mounts.
This means leveling in another race's regions can have long-term value beyond experience.
You are also building that city's reputation.
Alliance mount collectors should know about the Wintersaber Trainers.
The faction is present in the Forever database.
Traditional Classic progression revolves around repeatable quests in Winterspring and eventually unlocks the Winterspring Frostsaber at Exalted.
This is a very different reputation from Argent Dawn or Thorium Brotherhood.
It is primarily a prestige and collection goal.
If you need combat upgrades or profession unlocks, other reputations may deserve priority.
If collecting distinctive mounts is one of your major goals, Wintersaber Trainers can become much more important.
There is no universal answer.
Choose reputation based on what you actually want.
Prioritize factions connected to the content and gear your character uses.
High-level dungeon factions, raid-linked reputations, and Forever's new Mount Hyjal factions are stronger candidates than a cosmetic reputation unrelated to your build.
Look closely at:
Thorium Brotherhood,
Timbermaw Hold,
Argent Dawn,
Cenarion Circle,
Shen'dralar,
and Forever's new profession-connected factions.
Profession recipes can be more valuable than equipment because learning a useful craft can continue benefiting you long after one piece of gear is replaced.
Capital city reputations and specialized factions such as Wintersaber Trainers become more important.
Reputation mounts are usually long-term goals rather than essential character progression.
Reputations tied to your current raid content should receive more attention.
Hydraxian Waterlords, Zandalar Tribe, Brood of Nozdormu, Argent Dawn, Cenarion Circle, and new Forever factions may all become relevant depending on which content you are doing.
Eventually, broader reputation completion itself becomes valuable.
Forever explicitly includes maximizing reputations among Legacy Challenges.
That means even a faction whose individual rewards are no longer important to your main character may still contribute toward your long-term account goals.
The smartest reputation farming strategy is usually not endless grinding.
It is stacking objectives.
Suppose you need Argent Dawn reputation.
Instead of only killing random undead, run a dungeon where you can simultaneously obtain:
reputation,
gear,
profession materials,
valuable drops,
quests,
and Legacy dungeon progress.
If you need Cenarion Circle reputation, farm Silithus while gathering herbs or ore.
If you need Thorium Brotherhood reputation, obtain the required materials while working on Mining or Blackrock content.
The more systems you progress at once, the less repetitive reputation farming becomes.
Whenever a faction has substantial quest content, complete those quests before settling into a long enemy grind.
Questing provides more than reputation.
It also gives:
experience while leveling,
gold,
gear,
story progression,
access to later faction NPCs,
and sometimes new repeatable reputation methods.
Forever makes this particularly important because Blizzard is adding more than 1,000 new quests, including new faction questlines and expanded old-zone stories.
Old reputation guides may therefore miss entirely new Forever quest sources.
Use old Classic routes as a foundation.
Check whether Forever has added something better.
Many Classic-style reputations use repeatable items.

Dark Iron materials,

If you know you will eventually farm a reputation, avoid vendoring these items blindly.
Check what they do first.
A strange-looking item that sells to a vendor for a few silver may represent significant reputation progress or have strong Auction House value because another player wants to skip part of the grind.
Reputation and the economy are often directly connected.
Not every reputation material must be farmed personally.
If you can earn gold faster than you can farm a specific resource, buying it may be more efficient.
Thorium Brotherhood is the obvious example because many reputation stages revolve around material turn-ins.
Suppose a reputation turn-in item is inexpensive because many raiders are selling excess supply.
It may be smarter to buy that material than spend hours farming it.
But always calculate the full cost.
Do not spend most of your gold reaching Exalted for a reward your character does not actually need.
This is one of the best reputation-farming rules.
You do not always need Exalted.
Suppose the recipe you need unlocks at Revered.
Once you reach Revered, your immediate goal is complete.
Continuing to Exalted may still help Legacy progression or completion goals, but it is no longer necessary for the recipe.
The same principle applies to:

travel privileges,
raid requirements,
and profession rewards.
Before starting any reputation grind, ask:
What am I actually trying to unlock?
Then determine the standing required.
This prevents dozens of hours of unnecessary farming.

Forever looks familiar.
It is not identical to Vanilla.
Blizzard has:
added new zones,
added new reputations,
expanded Desolace faction rewards,
introduced Legacy progression,
added more than 600 profession recipes,
created more than 1,000 new quests,
and continued changing rewards throughout old Azeroth.
That means an old guide can correctly explain where a faction is located while still being wrong about what its rewards are worth in Forever.
The safest approach is:
use Classic knowledge for the basic mechanics;
use Forever data for actual rewards and priorities.
The biggest mistake is farming without knowing why.
Exalted looks impressive, but reputation is a resource investment.
Know the reward first.
Another mistake is ignoring reputation while leveling.
Riverglades, capital factions, centaur clans, and other reputations can often be advanced naturally through quests.
Doing that content at the appropriate level is usually more comfortable than returning later solely for reputation.
Do not destroy or vendor reputation items without checking them.

Complete faction quests before settling into repetitive grinding.

Most importantly, check the actual Forever rewards instead of assuming every old Vanilla reputation has the same value.
Because in WoW Forever, reputation is not only a bar you fill.
