How Weapons Work in THE FINALS

Each Build has its own weapon pool.

Light currently has 13 weapons.

Medium currently has 13 weapons.

Heavy currently has 12 weapons.

Unlike many shooters, you do not carry a traditional primary and secondary firearm simultaneously.

Your chosen weapon therefore needs to work with the rest of your loadout.

That makes Specializations and Gadgets especially important.

A short-range gun becomes much stronger when your Build has tools for closing distance.

A precision weapon becomes easier to use when your loadout provides information or high-ground access.

A Heavy close-range weapon becomes far more dangerous when Winch Claw can bring enemies into its effective range.

The best weapon is therefore not always the gun with the fastest theoretical time-to-kill.

It is the weapon that consistently produces useful fights for your Build.

Current Season 11 Weapon Meta

Current Season 11 statistical meta tracking places ShAK-50, FCAR, AKM, and XP-54 among the strongest overall weapon choices, while weapons such as KS-23, Lewis Gun, P90, ARN-220, and M11 remain strong alternatives.

That should not be interpreted as a rule that every other weapon is bad.

THE FINALS contains many specialist weapons that can become extremely effective when paired with the correct Specialization and engagement style.

Recent balance changes reinforce that point.

Update 11.6 increased AKM damage, improved ARN-220 fire rate and reload speed, increased Cerberus 12GA pellet damage, improved BFR Titan ranged performance, strengthened Recurve Bow maximum draw damage, and adjusted several melee weapons.

At the same time, M11 received additional recoil and dispersion to reduce how effectively it competed outside its intended close range, while KS-23 had its ranged effectiveness reduced.

The result is a healthier distinction between weapon roles.

You should choose your gun based partly on where you intend to fight.

Best Light Weapons

Light has one of the most diverse arsenals in THE FINALS.

Its current weapon pool includes:

  • 93R

  • ARN-220

  • Dagger

  • LH1

  • M11

  • M26 Matter

  • Recurve Bow

  • SH1900

  • SR-84

  • Sword

  • Throwing Knives

  • V9S

  • XP-54

Light weapons generally reward mobility, precision, burst damage, or quickly entering and leaving engagements.

XP-54 – Best All-Around Light Weapon

The XP-54 is one of the safest recommendations for players who want a strong Light weapon without committing completely to close-range combat.

It currently appears among the top-performing weapons in Season 11 meta tracking.

Its biggest advantage is flexibility.

The XP-54 works well when:

  • Flanking

  • Fighting around buildings

  • Contesting medium-distance sightlines

  • Chasing weakened targets

  • Protecting teammates from another angle

  • Moving between close and medium-range engagements

Unlike an M11-focused build, you are not forced to get extremely close before becoming threatening.

Recommended XP-54 Loadout

Specialization: Evasive Dash or Cloaking Device
Weapon: XP-54
Gadgets: Gateway, Glitch Grenade, H+ Infuser or Sonar Grenade

This is an excellent general-purpose Light setup.

Use Gateway to create rotation options.

Glitch Grenade can disable enemy equipment and Specializations.

Dash allows aggressive repositioning, while Cloak supports slower flanking and ambushes.

Do not stand directly beside your Medium and fight like a lower-health assault rifle user.

Create another angle.

That is where Light becomes dangerous.

M11 – Best Close-Range Light Gun

The M11 remains an extremely dangerous close-range weapon.

Its rapid rate of fire makes it excellent for quickly pressuring isolated targets.

However, Update 11.6 deliberately increased its recoil and dispersion because Embark believed it was performing too effectively at ranges intended for weapons such as ARN-220 and XP-54.

That tells you exactly how the M11 should currently be played:

Get close.

Do not try to turn it into a long-range assault rifle.

Recommended M11 Loadout

Specialization: Evasive Dash
Weapon: M11
Gadgets: Gateway, Glitch Grenade, Vanishing Bomb or H+ Infuser

Dash helps you quickly enter or leave close-range combat.

Gateway gives you another repositioning tool.

Glitch Grenade is particularly useful before committing because disabling defensive equipment can make aggressive pushes significantly safer.

Your basic fight should look like:

  1. Approach without exposing yourself unnecessarily.

  2. Wait for teammates to create pressure.

  3. Close distance.

  4. Commit quickly.

  5. Eliminate or heavily damage the target.

  6. Reposition immediately.

The longer an M11 Light remains exposed after the initial attack, the more dangerous the situation becomes.

ARN-220 – Strong Mid-Range Light Alternative

The ARN-220 has become more interesting after the 11.6 update.

Embark increased its fire rate from 725 to 750 RPM and shortened both its quick and empty reload animations because the weapon had been lagging behind M11 and XP-54.

It is a good choice for players who want Light mobility without relying completely on point-blank engagements.

Recommended ARN-220 Loadout

Specialization: Grappling Hook or Evasive Dash
Weapon: ARN-220
Gadgets: Sonar Grenade, Gateway, Thermal Bore or Glitch Grenade

Use Grappling Hook to reach high ground and create longer sightlines.

The ARN-220 works well when you can pressure enemies from unexpected positions while remaining close enough to reposition quickly.

LH1 – Precision Light Rifle

The LH1 rewards deliberate shots more than spraying.

It works particularly well for players who want to maintain some distance while still benefiting from Light's mobility.

Compared with the XP-54 or M11, the LH1 asks more from your aim.

Missing repeated shots dramatically reduces its value.

Recommended LH1 Loadout

Specialization: Grappling Hook
Weapon: LH1
Gadgets: Sonar Grenade, Gateway, Thermal Bore

High ground is particularly useful here.

Sonar provides information.

Thermal Bore can create new sightlines.

Gateway helps you rotate when another team begins pressuring your position.

Do not become so focused on ranged damage that you stop participating in the objective.

A sniper-style Light who contributes nothing to a Cashout fight is not helping simply because they remain alive.

SR-84 – Dedicated Sniper Choice

The SR-84 is Light's dedicated sniper-style option.

It can be extremely useful when:

  • Maps provide long sightlines

  • You can repeatedly take high ground

  • Your team already has strong objective presence

  • Enemies must cross exposed areas

It becomes much less effective when fights collapse into small rooms and destructible interiors.

Recommended SR-84 Loadout

Specialization: Grappling Hook
Weapon: SR-84
Gadgets: Sonar Grenade, Thermal Bore, Gateway

This is close to the philosophy of the official Scout Playstyle, which pairs Grappling Hook and SR-84 with reconnaissance and breaching utility.

Your responsibility is not simply landing long-range eliminations.

Provide information and pressure that allows your teammates to take space.

Recurve Bow – High-Skill Precision Option

The Recurve Bow is one of Light's more specialized weapons.

Update 11.6 increased fully drawn damage from 124 to 126 as Embark adjusted the weapon following Quick Melee changes.

The Bow rewards:

  • Accuracy

  • Positioning

  • Peeking

  • Target selection

  • Knowing when to fully draw

  • Using movement between shots

It is less forgiving than XP-54 or M11.

A player consistently landing shots can be extremely threatening.

A player repeatedly missing gives enemies large windows to push.

Light Melee Weapons

Light also has access to Sword and Dagger, while Throwing Knives function as another unconventional projectile option.

Season 11 completely reworked melee combat by adding systems such as Stamina, precision zones, extended lunges, and additional counterplay.

Melee should therefore no longer be judged entirely by older pre-Season 11 guides.

Sword

Sword emphasizes aggressive movement and lunge-based combat.

Pair it with:

Evasive Dash + Gateway + Vanishing Bomb

Your entire setup should help you reach targets.

Dagger

Dagger is much more dependent on ambushes and accurate positioning.

Update 11.6 increased both its regular and backstab-related damage values and improved lunge behavior.

Cloaking Device naturally supports this style.

Dagger can be rewarding, but it is not a weapon most beginners should choose when they simply want consistent damage.

Best Light Weapons Summary

For most players:

Best all-around: XP-54
Best close range: M11
Best assault-rifle alternative: ARN-220
Best precision rifle: LH1
Best dedicated sniper: SR-84
Best specialist projectile: Recurve Bow
Best melee option: Sword for aggression, Dagger for stealth

If you are unsure, start with XP-54.

It gives you enough flexibility to learn Light without forcing every fight into a narrow range.

Best Medium Weapons

Medium has arguably the most versatile conventional weapon pool.

Current Medium weapons include:

  • AKM

  • CB-01 Repeater

  • Cerberus 12GA

  • Chimera-XB

  • CL-40

  • Dual Blades

  • FAMAS

  • FCAR

  • Model 1887

  • P90

  • Pike-556

  • R .357

  • Riot Shield

Medium weapons cover almost every playstyle.

You can run:

  • Automatic rifles

  • Burst rifles

  • Shotguns

  • Precision weapons

  • Grenade launchers

  • Melee

  • Defensive weapons

That versatility is one reason Medium is such a comfortable Build for many players.

AKM – Best Beginner-Friendly Medium Gun

The AKM is one of the strongest all-purpose Medium weapons.

Update 11.6 increased its damage from 20 to 21 because Embark felt its performance was slightly behind FAMAS and FCAR.

It now sits among the strongest current Season 11 weapons in meta tracking.

The AKM's biggest advantage is consistency.

It does not require a complicated gimmick.

Aim.

Control recoil.

Stay at sensible range.

Use your Medium utility.

Recommended AKM Support Loadout

Specialization: Healing Beam
Weapon: AKM
Gadgets: Defibrillator, Jump Pad, Goo Grenade or Frag Grenade

This is one of the most dependable Medium setups in the game.

Current meta tracking also lists Healing Beam + AKM + Defibrillator + Goo Grenade + Jump Pad among popular Medium configurations.

The AKM gives you reliable damage while the rest of the loadout provides:

  • Healing

  • Revives

  • Movement

  • Defensive utility

That combination works in almost every Cashout situation.

FCAR – Best Precise Automatic Medium Rifle

The FCAR remains another premium Medium option.

Its current profile emphasizes strong automatic damage over short-to-moderate ranges, with a smaller magazine than AKM but strong accuracy and damage potential.

FCAR also currently appears among Season 11's top-performing weapons.

Choose FCAR over AKM if you prefer:

  • More controlled bursts

  • Precise tracking

  • Cleaner medium-range engagements

  • Punishing exposed enemies quickly

Choose AKM if you prefer:

  • More forgiving sustained engagements

  • Larger magazine flexibility

  • Easier handling when fights become messy

Both are excellent.

Recommended FCAR Loadout

Specialization: Healing Beam or Dematerializer
Weapon: FCAR
Gadgets: Defibrillator, Jump Pad, Goo Grenade

Healing Beam creates a conventional support setup.

Dematerializer creates a more aggressive environmental-control build where you open walls and floors to create favorable FCAR sightlines.

P90 – Strong Aggressive Medium Choice

The P90 is currently another strong Medium option and appears in the upper group of Season 11 meta tracking.

It suits players who want to play Medium more aggressively.

Compared with rifle-oriented setups, the P90 encourages:

  • Closer engagements

  • Fast pressure

  • Playing around interiors

  • Following aggressive Heavy teammates

  • Taking advantage of Jump Pads and Dematerializer routes

Recommended P90 Loadout

Specialization: Dematerializer or Healing Beam
Weapon: P90
Gadgets: Defibrillator, Jump Pad, Frag Grenade or Goo Grenade

Dematerializer is especially useful because you can create immediate close-range attack routes instead of approaching through predictable doorways.

FAMAS – Burst-Fire Precision

The FAMAS fires three-round bursts and rewards controlled aim.

Update 11.3 increased its damage from 23 to 24 because Embark felt it was lagging behind other Medium weapons.

It is useful for players who prefer deliberate burst timing rather than holding the trigger.

Recommended FAMAS Loadout

Specialization: Recon Senses or Healing Beam
Weapon: FAMAS
Gadgets: Defibrillator, Jump Pad, utility grenade

Use information or team support to create controlled engagements rather than forcing chaotic point-blank fights.

Model 1887 – Best Traditional Medium Shotgun

The Model 1887 is one of Medium's strongest close-range alternatives.

It rewards accurate shot placement and using cover between shots.

Shotguns in THE FINALS become particularly dangerous around:

  • Cashout rooms

  • Doorways

  • Staircases

  • Tight corridors

  • Broken floors

Recommended Model 1887 Loadout

Specialization: Dematerializer
Weapon: Model 1887
Gadgets: Defibrillator, Jump Pad, Goo Grenade

Dematerializer solves one of the shotgun's biggest problems.

Instead of walking through a long sightline toward the enemy, remove the wall and appear beside them.

That is exactly the type of synergy you should look for when creating loadouts.

Cerberus 12GA – Stronger After 11.6

Cerberus received a significant damage adjustment in Update 11.6.

Damage per pellet increased from 8 to 9, raising the maximum full-shot damage from 104 to 117.

That improves its close-range threat substantially.

It is still a more specialized option than AKM or FCAR, but players who enjoy shotgun-based Medium builds should reconsider it after the buff rather than judging it by earlier versions.

Pike-556 – Long-Range Medium Option

The Pike-556 is designed around longer-range precision.

Season 11 increased its headshot multiplier to 1.75x, although previous updates had reduced its extreme-range effectiveness.

It works best when:

  • Your team already controls close-range space

  • You can maintain high ground

  • Enemies repeatedly cross open areas

  • Your aim consistently converts precision opportunities

It is less flexible than AKM or FCAR when the Cashout collapses into a destroyed interior.

R .357 – High-Skill Hand Cannon

The R .357 rewards accurate individual shots.

It is not the weapon to choose if your biggest strength is sustained automatic tracking.

Choose it if you enjoy:

  • Precision

  • Peeking

  • Headshots

  • Punishing exposed players

  • Deliberate shot timing

Missing is expensive.

Accuracy turns it into a threat.

CL-40 – Explosive Specialist

The CL-40 is a Medium grenade launcher designed around explosive area damage.

Current data lists significant environmental damage as well as splash damage, making it fundamentally different from conventional rifles.

It can pressure:

  • Enemies behind cover

  • Cashout rooms

  • Tight interiors

  • Groups contesting the same area

But explosive weapons come with limitations.

Close-range self-damage and slow projectile behavior mean you cannot treat the CL-40 like an AKM.

Medium Melee Weapons

Medium has:

  • Dual Blades

  • Riot Shield

Both were heavily affected by Season 11's melee overhaul.

Dual Blades

Dual Blades are the more aggressive Medium melee option.

Update 11.6 broadened their precision zone, making precise strikes easier to land.

Riot Shield

Riot Shield is deliberately intended as a defensive weapon.

Embark has emphasized that its role is more about anchoring interior fights and protecting space than simply chasing elimination totals.

Update 11.6 nevertheless increased several of its damage and lunge values to improve its combat potential.

Use it when your goal is protecting:

  • Cashouts

  • Revives

  • Turrets

  • Mines

  • Tight defensive positions

Do not judge its value only by personal kills.

Best Medium Weapons Summary

For most players:

Best all-around: AKM
Best precision automatic: FCAR
Best aggressive automatic: P90
Best burst rifle: FAMAS
Best close-range shotgun: Model 1887
Best alternative shotgun: Cerberus 12GA
Best long-range precision: Pike-556
Best explosive option: CL-40
Best defensive melee: Riot Shield

For beginners, AKM is the safest starting point.

For experienced shooters who value precision, FCAR is an excellent alternative.

Best Heavy Weapons

Heavy's arsenal is designed around sustained fire, high stopping power, close-range control, and destructive pressure.

Current Heavy weapons include:

  • .50 Akimbo

  • BFR Titan

  • Flamethrower

  • KS-23

  • Lewis Gun

  • M134 Minigun

  • M60

  • MGL32

  • SA1216

  • ShAK-50

  • Sledgehammer

  • Spear

Heavy does not move as quickly as the other Builds.

Your weapon therefore needs to match the space you intend to control.

ShAK-50 – Best All-Around Heavy Gun

The ShAK-50 currently stands among the strongest weapons in Season 11 meta tracking.

It is an excellent Heavy choice because it provides strong firearm pressure without forcing you completely into close-range combat.

Recommended ShAK-50 Loadout

Specialization: Winch Claw or Mesh Shield
Weapon: ShAK-50
Gadgets: RPG-7, Dome Shield, C4 or Healing Emitter

A current meta configuration also combines Winch Claw, ShAK-50, C4, Dome Shield, and RPG-7.

Winch helps displace enemies.

ShAK provides reliable follow-up damage.

Dome Shield protects important space.

RPG-7 provides burst pressure and environmental utility.

This is a very complete Heavy setup.

Lewis Gun – Reliable Heavy Automatic Weapon

The Lewis Gun remains one of Heavy's strongest conventional automatic choices.

It is especially useful for players who want to:

  • Hold angles

  • Sustain pressure

  • Protect Cashouts

  • Support teammates from the frontline

  • Fight at practical medium ranges

Lewis Gun is less specialized than Flamethrower or Sledgehammer.

That makes it easier to use across many maps and objectives.

Recommended Lewis Gun Loadout

Specialization: Mesh Shield
Weapon: Lewis Gun
Gadgets: RPG-7, Dome Shield, Barricade or Healing Emitter

Protect your team while creating enough firearm pressure that enemies cannot simply walk into the objective.

KS-23 – Heavy Precision Shotgun

The KS-23 has gone through several recent balance adjustments.

Season 11 initially increased its damage.

Update 11.3 reduced that damage from 110 to 104 after Embark found the initial buff too strong.

Update 11.6 then reduced its effective range because it was competing too well with longer-range Heavy weapons such as BFR Titan.

That leaves the KS-23 in a clearer role:

Powerful close-to-mid-range precision weapon.

Do not use it like a sniper.

Recommended KS-23 Loadout

Specialization: Mesh Shield or Winch Claw
Weapon: KS-23
Gadgets: RPG-7, Dome Shield, C4

Winch can pull targets into effective range.

Mesh Shield lets you control when the engagement begins.

Current meta tracking continues to place the KS-23 among strong Heavy options.

M60 – Forgiving Sustained-Fire Choice

The M60 offers a large ammunition capacity and sustained pressure.

It has previously received improvements intended to bring its performance closer to Lewis Gun and ShAK-50.

This makes it a good choice for players who value:

  • Long firing windows

  • Suppression

  • Objective defense

  • Forgiving magazines

You give up some of the sharper strengths of other Heavy weapons in exchange for sustained consistency.

M134 Minigun – Maximum Sustained Pressure

The M134 Minigun provides enormous sustained firepower.

It is particularly suited to:

  • Holding chokepoints

  • Defending objectives

  • Breaking environmental objects

  • Punishing exposed teams

Season 11 reduced its dispersion and improved environmental damage in an attempt to increase its effectiveness.

The disadvantage is commitment.

Heavy already has limited mobility, and the Minigun further emphasizes holding ground rather than rapidly changing engagements.

.50 Akimbo – Aggressive Heavy Sidearm Style

The .50 Akimbo offers a different Heavy experience.

Season 11 increased its damage from 44 to 46 because Embark considered it underused and slightly underperforming.

It works well for players who want Heavy durability without carrying a traditional LMG.

Pair it with Winch or Charge 'N' Slam for a more aggressive style.

BFR Titan – Heavy Long-Range Specialist

BFR Titan has received repeated recent buffs.

Update 11.3 increased its damage from 88 to 90.

Update 11.6 then improved its ranged damage falloff because Embark believed other Heavy weapons were outperforming it at distances where BFR should dominate.

That makes its intended identity very clear.

Use BFR when you want Heavy to contest longer sightlines.

Do not expect it to provide the same forgiving sustained pressure as ShAK-50 or Lewis Gun.

Flamethrower – Best Heavy Area-Control Weapon

Flamethrower changes how Heavy fights.

Instead of traditional precision shooting, you pressure enemies at close range and control confined areas.

It works particularly well around:

  • Small rooms

  • Cashouts

  • Stairs

  • Doorways

  • Goo structures

  • Dense defensive positions

Recommended Flamethrower Loadout

Specialization: Winch Claw
Weapon: Flamethrower
Gadgets: Dome Shield, RPG-7, Goo Grenade or Pyro Mine

Winch solves the obvious problem:

Enemies do not want to stand inside Flamethrower range.

Bring them closer.

Goo can also block escape paths or create cover while approaching.

The weapon becomes much weaker in open environments where opponents can maintain distance.

SA1216 – Close-Range Heavy Shotgun

The SA1216 is built around close-range pressure.

It can be effective when Heavy controls the engagement distance, particularly around interior Cashouts.

Pair it with:

  • Winch Claw

  • Mesh Shield

  • Dome Shield

  • Barricade

The more you can force enemies into your preferred space, the stronger the shotgun becomes.

Heavy Melee Weapons

Heavy has two primary melee choices:

  • Sledgehammer

  • Spear

Both benefit from Season 11's redesigned melee system.

Sledgehammer – Best Destruction Melee Weapon

Sledgehammer combines player damage with enormous environmental utility.

It can:

  • Break walls

  • Drop floors

  • Open Cashouts

  • Remove cover

  • Create shortcuts

  • Pressure enemies at close range

Current meta tracking even shows Charge 'N' Slam + Sledgehammer among popular Heavy configurations.

Recommended Sledgehammer Loadout

Specialization: Charge 'N' Slam
Weapon: Sledgehammer
Gadgets: Anti-Gravity Cube, Healing Emitter, RPG-7 or Dome Shield

Your objective is not simply hitting people with the hammer.

Destroy the structure that makes their position strong.

Then attack.

Spear – Mobile Heavy Melee Alternative

Spear provides more reach and movement-oriented melee combat than Sledgehammer.

Update 11.6 significantly increased its lunge distance, lunge speed, and hitbox reliability after Embark found it was having difficulty consistently reaching targets.

It remains more specialized than Heavy's top firearms, but players interested in melee should not judge it using early Season 11 performance.

Best Heavy Weapons Summary

For most players:

Best all-around: ShAK-50
Best traditional automatic: Lewis Gun
Best precision shotgun: KS-23
Best sustained fire: M60
Best heavy suppression: M134 Minigun
Best long-range specialist: BFR Titan
Best close-range control: Flamethrower
Best demolition melee: Sledgehammer
Best melee alternative: Spear

If you want a dependable firearm, begin with ShAK-50 or Lewis Gun.

Best Overall Loadouts for Every Class

These are strong starting configurations rather than mandatory builds.

Balance patches, maps, modes, and personal skill can all change what performs best.

Best Light All-Around Loadout

Build: Light
Specialization: Evasive Dash
Weapon: XP-54
Gadgets: Gateway, Glitch Grenade, H+ Infuser

Why it works:

XP-54 provides flexible damage.

Dash gives immediate repositioning.

Gateway provides rotations.

Glitch helps disable defensive equipment.

H+ Infuser adds useful support capability.

This is one of the safest competitive Light configurations for players who do not want to specialize completely into melee, sniper, or extreme close range.

Best Light Close-Range Loadout

Build: Light
Specialization: Evasive Dash
Weapon: M11
Gadgets: Gateway, Glitch Grenade, Vanishing Bomb

Use movement to force close engagements where M11 remains strongest after its range-focused nerf.

Do not attempt extended medium-range gunfights when XP-54 or ARN-220 would be better suited.

Best Medium All-Around Loadout

Build: Medium
Specialization: Healing Beam
Weapon: AKM
Gadgets: Defibrillator, Jump Pad, Goo Grenade

This setup has almost everything:

  • Damage

  • Healing

  • Revives

  • Team movement

  • Defensive utility

It is difficult to build a team that cannot benefit from it.

Best Medium Precision Loadout

Build: Medium
Specialization: Dematerializer
Weapon: FCAR
Gadgets: Defibrillator, Jump Pad, Frag Grenade

Open unexpected sightlines with Dematerializer.

Use FCAR's accuracy to punish enemies before they understand where the attack came from.

Jump Pad helps reposition after the fight changes.

Best Heavy All-Around Loadout

Build: Heavy
Specialization: Winch Claw
Weapon: ShAK-50
Gadgets: RPG-7, Dome Shield, C4

This setup combines:

  • Gun damage

  • Displacement

  • Burst pressure

  • Destruction

  • Defensive protection

It can participate effectively in both attacks and retakes.

Best Heavy Defensive Loadout

Build: Heavy
Specialization: Mesh Shield
Weapon: Lewis Gun or KS-23
Gadgets: Dome Shield, Barricade, RPG-7

This setup is built around controlling objective space.

Use barriers and shields to determine where the fight happens.

Then punish opponents who are forced to enter your preferred angle.

How to Choose the Right Weapon

Do not ask only:

Which gun has the highest DPS?

Ask:

Can I consistently create situations where this gun is strong?

That is a much more useful question.

Choose Based on Engagement Range

Close Range

Good examples include:

  • M11

  • Model 1887

  • Cerberus 12GA

  • Flamethrower

  • SA1216

  • Melee weapons

These setups usually need movement, cover, or displacement.

Flexible Close-to-Mid Range

Examples include:

  • XP-54

  • ARN-220

  • AKM

  • FCAR

  • P90

  • ShAK-50

  • Lewis Gun

These are generally the safest choices for players who want consistent results.

Longer Range

Examples include:

  • LH1

  • SR-84

  • Pike-556

  • BFR Titan

These weapons demand better positioning and can struggle when objectives move into tight interiors.

Match Your Specialization to Your Weapon

A strong gun with the wrong Specialization can create an awkward setup.

Think about synergy.

M11 + Dash

Dash helps reach M11 range.

SR-84 + Grappling Hook

Grapple creates sniper sightlines.

Model 1887 + Dematerializer

Dematerializer creates close-range entrances.

Flamethrower + Winch

Winch brings targets into Flamethrower range.

Sledgehammer + Charge 'N' Slam

Both tools emphasize aggressive destruction.

Your weapon and Specialization should usually solve the same tactical problem.

Do Not Ignore Gadgets

Your gun cannot solve everything.

Suppose you use a close-range weapon.

You may need:

  • Movement

  • Cover

  • Displacement

Suppose you use a long-range weapon.

You may need:

  • Reconnaissance

  • High-ground access

  • Escape options

Suppose you use Heavy.

You may need:

  • Shields

  • Destruction

  • Defensive utility

A good loadout compensates for situations where your weapon becomes weak.

Learn One Weapon Before Chasing the Meta

THE FINALS receives regular balance updates.

A weapon that is dominant today can be adjusted later.

Season 11 alone has already changed weapons such as 93R, FCAR, KS-23, FAMAS, AKM, ARN-220, M11, BFR Titan, Cerberus, Recurve Bow, Dagger, Riot Shield, Spear, and others.

Constantly switching weapons every time a tier list changes can prevent you from mastering any of them.

Learn:

  • Recoil

  • Effective range

  • Reload timing

  • Magazine limitations

  • Headshot potential

  • Movement accuracy

  • Matchups

  • Your preferred sight

Weapon familiarity frequently matters more than moving from one strong weapon to another strong weapon.

Common Weapon Mistakes

Using M11 at Too Much Range

The 11.6 changes specifically pushed it toward its intended close-range role.

Get closer or use XP-54/ARN-220.

Sniping While Your Team Dies on the Objective

Long-range damage is only valuable if it contributes to winning the fight.

Rotate when necessary.

Reloading After Every Few Shots

You do not always need a full magazine.

Reloading at the wrong moment gives enemies free pressure.

Choosing Shotguns Without Gap-Closing Tools

If your gun requires close range, your loadout should help you create close range.

Holding the Trigger at Every Distance

Burst control becomes increasingly important as distance increases.

Ignoring Environmental Destruction

Some weapons and loadouts can create new firing angles.

Do not fight only through existing doors.

Copying a Meta Weapon You Cannot Use

A theoretically stronger precision gun provides little value if you consistently miss.

A more forgiving gun may produce better real match results.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best weapon in THE FINALS right now?

There is no single weapon that is best in every situation. Current Season 11 meta tracking places ShAK-50, FCAR, AKM, and XP-54 among the strongest overall choices, but class, range, mode, map, and player skill all matter.

What is the best Light weapon?

XP-54 is currently one of the strongest all-around Light choices because it combines good combat effectiveness with more range flexibility than M11.

M11 remains excellent when you intentionally play close range.

What is the best Medium weapon?

AKM and FCAR are both excellent.

AKM is generally easier to recommend for players who value sustained, forgiving gunfights.

FCAR rewards more precise shooting.

What is the best Heavy weapon?

ShAK-50 is currently one of the strongest overall Heavy firearms and appears at the top of current Season 11 meta tracking. Lewis Gun and KS-23 remain strong alternatives.

Is the M11 still good after the nerf?

Yes.

Update 11.6 primarily reduced how effectively it performs outside its intended range by increasing recoil and dispersion. Its close-range identity remains strong.

Is AKM good in Season 11?

Yes.

Update 11.6 increased AKM damage from 20 to 21, and it currently sits among the stronger Season 11 weapons.

Are melee weapons viable?

They are more mechanically developed than before.

Season 11 introduced a major melee rework involving Stamina, precision hits, expanded lunges, and new counterplay. Several melee weapons have also received follow-up buffs.

They remain more specialized than conventional firearms and usually require a loadout designed around getting into melee range.

Should beginners use meta weapons?

Strong meta weapons can help, but beginners should prioritize something reliable and understandable.

Good starting choices include:

Light: XP-54
Medium: AKM
Heavy: ShAK-50 or Lewis Gun

Learn those before moving into highly specialized weapons.

Final Thoughts

The best weapons in THE FINALS are not simply the guns with the fastest theoretical kill time.

Your weapon should match your Build, Specialization, Gadgets, engagement range, and team role.

For Light, XP-54 currently provides one of the strongest combinations of flexibility and effectiveness, while M11 remains excellent for dedicated close-range aggression and ARN-220 has become more competitive after its recent buff.

For Medium, AKM and FCAR are outstanding general-purpose choices. P90 provides a more aggressive alternative, while Model 1887, Cerberus, FAMAS, Pike-556, and other weapons become valuable when your playstyle supports their specific strengths.

For Heavy, ShAK-50 remains one of the safest top choices, with Lewis Gun and KS-23 providing excellent alternatives. Flamethrower and Sledgehammer can become extremely powerful when the rest of your loadout forces enemies into close-range fights.

Start with a weapon that fits the situations you naturally create.

Then build your Specialization and Gadgets around it.

Once the entire loadout works toward the same purpose, your weapon becomes far more dangerous than it would ever be on its own.
