What Changed With OSRS Quest XP Rewards in November 2026?

Jagex released the quest reward improvements on November 3, 2026, alongside the start of Quest Month.

The goal was to make older quests more rewarding, particularly for new players.

Previously, several quests provided Quest Points, GP, items, or unlocks without awarding experience.

That could make them feel less rewarding than other adventures.

The November update addresses that inconsistency.

Now, those quests offer additional XP alongside their existing rewards.

How Many Quests Received New XP?

A total of 18 quests received new experience rewards.

They include a combination of free-to-play and members-only adventures.

Some provide only a few hundred XP.

Others offer several thousand XP across multiple skills.

These are additions to the quests' existing rewards rather than replacements for their Quest Points or other benefits.

How Much Additional XP Is Available?

<text preserveWhitespace>{" "}</text>29,700 total additional XP is available when combining every newly announced reward from all 18 quests.

That total consists of:

  • 5,500 XP from the newly added lamps.

  • 24,200 XP awarded to specific skills.

  • 29,700 XP combined.

This represents the complete additional reward pool, not the amount every account can immediately claim.

Your actual available XP depends on which quests you've completed and which additional rewards you've already received.

Players who completed only a few of the quests will have a smaller amount available.

Do You Need to Repeat Completed Quests?

No.

If you completed one of the affected quests before the update, you don't need to repeat it.

Instead, claim its newly added reward through the appropriate NPC.

The update was designed to give existing players access to the same additional experience as new quest completions.

Are the Rewards Already Available?

Yes.

The changes went live on November 3, 2026.

As of November 8, the published changes are live content, not upcoming or proposed rewards.

You can begin checking your completed quests and collecting eligible additional XP.

Complete List of All 18 OSRS Quests With New XP Rewards

Below is the complete list confirmed in Jagex's November 3 announcement.

The rewards listed are the new experience added in November 2026, not the entire collection of rewards a quest provides.

Free-to-Play Quest XP Changes

Several classic free-to-play quests received experience rewards.

These are especially useful for fresh characters and players who completed the early quest roster years ago.

1. Demon Slayer – 2,000 Combat XP

New reward: Two combat XP lamps.

XP per lamp: 1,000.

Total new XP: 2,000.

Claim NPC: Aris.

Location: Varrock Market.

Demon Slayer is one of the most recognizable early quests in OSRS.

It involves confronting the demon Delrith and using Silverlight.

Previously, the quest didn't provide a conventional experience reward.

Now, players can obtain two combat XP lamps.

Each gives 1,000 XP in an eligible combat skill.

However, Demon Slayer has an important exception.

Unlike most newly updated quests, its XP lamps are collected separately from Aris after quest completion.

Even players completing Demon Slayer for the first time after the update must visit Aris to collect their lamps.

If your quest was already completed before November 3, speak with Aris in Varrock Market to check your eligibility.

2. Romeo & Juliet – 500 XP

New reward: One XP lamp.

Total new XP: 500.

Retroactive lamp NPC: Romeo.

Romeo & Juliet is a familiar free-to-play quest located around Varrock.

The November update adds a 500 XP lamp to its rewards.

If you completed the quest previously, visit Romeo and check the available reward dialogue.

Jagex specifically identified Romeo as the NPC responsible for providing the additional lamp.

Before using the reward, check its eligible skill options.

3. Shield of Arrav – 500 XP

New reward: One XP lamp.

Total new XP: 500.

Retroactive lamp NPC: King Roald.

Shield of Arrav is a classic quest involving the Phoenix Gang and Black Arm Gang.

Players who completed the quest before the November update can now claim a new 500 XP lamp.

The confirmed NPC for this retroactive lamp is King Roald.

You'll find him inside Varrock Palace.

Speak with him and check the reward-related dialogue options.

Don't assume Perdu will hand you the lamp directly.

4. Ernest the Chicken – 500 XP

New reward: One XP lamp.

Total new XP: 500.

Retroactive lamp NPC: Veronica.

Ernest the Chicken takes players into Draynor Manor.

The quest now provides a 500 XP lamp.

Players who completed it before November 3 should speak with Veronica.

She is located outside Draynor Manor.

This is another specific NPC confirmed by Jagex for retroactive lamp collection.

5. Prince Ali Rescue – 1,000 XP

New rewards:

  • 500 Smithing XP.

  • 500 Crafting XP.

Total new XP: 1,000.

Prince Ali Rescue involves rescuing Prince Ali from captivity.

The November update introduces experience in two production skills.

This is fixed-skill XP.

You don't freely choose which skills receive the rewards.

If you completed the quest before the update, check with Perdu or the Lumbridge Guide about receiving the additional experience.

6. Black Knights' Fortress – 2,000 Combat XP

New reward: Two combat XP lamps.

XP per lamp: 1,000.

Total new XP: 2,000.

Black Knights' Fortress is a classic free-to-play adventure involving the Black Knights.

Its November reward is similar in value to Demon Slayer.

Players receive two combat lamps worth 1,000 XP each.

If you've already completed the quest, check the relevant original quest NPC for the new lamp reward.

Jagex's announcement confirms that quest lamps are collected from the corresponding quest NPCs, although it doesn't separately name the Black Knights' Fortress lamp contact in its published clarification.

Use the current in-game dialogue to verify the available claim option rather than assuming the lamps come directly from Perdu.

7. Pirate's Treasure – 800 Cooking XP

New reward: 800 Cooking XP.

Total new XP: 800.

Pirate's Treasure is a short free-to-play quest involving a treasure hunt.

The added Cooking experience makes it more rewarding for fresh accounts.

Because this reward is assigned to Cooking, players don't need to decide which skill to train.

If you completed the quest previously, use the retroactive XP claim route through Perdu or the Lumbridge Guide.

8. Rune Mysteries – 500 Runecraft XP

New reward: 500 Runecraft XP.

Total new XP: 500.

Rune Mysteries introduces players to the basics of Runecraft progression.

The November update adds 500 Runecraft experience.

This is useful for low-level accounts because Runecraft training often requires traveling and gathering resources.

If the quest is already complete, collect the additional experience through the applicable retroactive claim NPC.

9. The Corsair Curse – 1,200 Firemaking XP

New reward: 1,200 Firemaking XP.

Total new XP: 1,200.

The Corsair Curse is a free-to-play quest involving the Corsair Cove area.

The new Firemaking XP provides a useful bonus for early skill progression.

If you've already completed the quest, check whether the retroactive XP reward is still available.

You don't need to repeat its storyline.

10. Below Ice Mountain – 1,200 Mining XP

New reward: 1,200 Mining XP.

Total new XP: 1,200.

Below Ice Mountain introduces players to content beneath Ice Mountain.

Its newly added Mining XP supports early resource gathering.

Mining is useful for obtaining ores and training Smithing.

For existing quest completions, check with Perdu or the Lumbridge Guide.

Members-Only Quest XP Changes

The remaining eight quests are members-only adventures.

Some provide significantly larger experience rewards.

If your account has completed a large number of older quests, these can be especially worthwhile to check.

11. Clock Tower – 1,000 Firemaking XP

New reward: 1,000 Firemaking XP.

Total new XP: 1,000.

Clock Tower is a quest involving repairs to the clock mechanism near Ardougne.

The November update adds 1,000 Firemaking experience.

If you've already completed it, you can claim the newly added reward through the relevant retroactive XP system.

12. Family Crest – 6,000 XP

New rewards:

  • 2,000 Mining XP.

  • 2,000 Smithing XP.

  • 2,000 Crafting XP.

Total new XP: 6,000.

Family Crest receives the largest single new XP allocation among these 18 quests.

The reward is split evenly across three production skills.

This makes it one of the first quests worth checking if you've already completed most of the older members' content.

However, the 6,000 XP isn't a selectable lamp.

You receive the stated experience in Mining, Smithing, and Crafting.

13. Lost City – 3,000 XP

New rewards:

  • 1,500 Woodcutting XP.

  • 1,500 Crafting XP.

Total new XP: 3,000.

Lost City is an important quest for accessing Zanaris and related content.

The added experience rewards two gathering and production skills.

Existing quest completions can claim the extra XP without repeating the adventure.

14. Merlin's Crystal – 1,000 Firemaking XP

New reward: 1,000 Firemaking XP.

Total new XP: 1,000.

Merlin's Crystal takes place around Camelot and the surrounding area.

The update adds Firemaking experience.

If you've completed the quest previously, check the retroactive reward option.

The XP is assigned to Firemaking rather than freely selectable.

15. Sheep Herder – 1,000 Hunter XP

New reward: 1,000 Hunter XP.

Total new XP: 1,000.

Sheep Herder is a quest involving the plague-related storyline around Ardougne.

Its new reward is 1,000 Hunter experience.

This provides a small amount of additional progression in a skill that previously wasn't rewarded by the quest.

Players who already completed Sheep Herder can claim the extra XP through the appropriate retroactive reward NPC.

16. Tale of the Righteous – 1,500 Mining XP

New reward: 1,500 Mining XP.

Total new XP: 1,500.

Tale of the Righteous is part of the Great Kourend quest content.

The November update adds 1,500 Mining experience.

For players developing Mining or preparing for future requirements, this is a useful bonus.

The experience is fixed to Mining.

17. Throne of Miscellania – 4,000 XP

New rewards:

  • 1,000 Woodcutting XP.

  • 1,000 Mining XP.

  • 1,000 Fishing XP.

  • 1,000 Farming XP.

Total new XP: 4,000.

Throne of Miscellania receives one of the largest combined rewards in the November update.

It now awards additional XP in four different skills.

These are useful for gathering and resource-management progression.

If you've previously unlocked the kingdom-management system through this quest, check whether the retroactive experience is available.

However, don't confuse the new XP reward with the ongoing resource-management mechanics.

The newly added XP is a quest reward, not a recurring daily or weekly experience source.

18. Troll Stronghold – 2,000 Agility XP

New reward: 2,000 Agility XP.

Total new XP: 2,000.

Troll Stronghold is an important quest in the Troll questline.

The November update adds 2,000 Agility experience.

Agility supports movement, shortcuts, and several later progression requirements.

Players who completed the quest before November 3 can check the retroactive reward system.

This is a fixed Agility XP reward rather than a selectable combat lamp.

How to Claim Missing Quest XP in OSRS

If you've completed one or more affected quests but haven't received the new XP, there are two important claim routes.

Fixed-skill experience: Perdu or the Lumbridge Guide.

New XP lamps: The relevant original quest NPC.

This distinction is essential because Jagex clarified the process after launch-day confusion.

Method 1: Claim Retroactive XP From Perdu

Perdu is a travelling NPC associated with lost property and certain previously missed quest rewards.

He's also one of the confirmed contacts for the November 2026 retroactive XP changes.

Where Can You Find Perdu?

Perdu can be found at several locations across Gielinor, including:

  • Lumbridge, in the southern castle wall tower.

  • The north side of the Grand Exchange in Varrock.

  • Catherby, in the house north of the bank.

  • Falador, upstairs in the general store.

  • Ferox Enclave, near the bank chest.

Additional location variants may exist depending on world and activity.

For a beginner, Lumbridge is a convenient place to start.

Step-by-Step Perdu XP Claim

  1. Open your Quest List and identify which affected quests are complete.

  2. Visit Perdu at a convenient location.

  3. Speak with him.

  4. Look for dialogue relating to previously unclaimed quest experience.

  5. Review the available rewards.

  6. Claim any eligible additional XP.

  7. Check your skill experience afterward.

If your reward is a lamp rather than fixed-skill XP, you may need to visit the original quest NPC instead.

Perdu is not the universal source for every new lamp.

Is Claiming the New XP the Same as Buying Lost Items?

No.

Perdu also runs a Lost Property shop, where certain replacement items may involve a fee.

The November retroactive XP feature is separate from purchasing replacement equipment.

Don't confuse an item-recovery transaction with the quest experience claim.

Method 2: Claim Retroactive XP From the Lumbridge Guide

The Lumbridge Guide is another officially supported contact for newly added experience rewards.

He's particularly convenient for fresh or returning accounts beginning in Lumbridge.

Where Is the Lumbridge Guide?

The Lumbridge Guide is located near Lumbridge Castle.

He's one of the familiar NPCs associated with helping new players.

How to Claim Missing XP

  1. Travel to Lumbridge.

  2. Find the Lumbridge Guide.

  3. Speak with him.

  4. Check for dialogue about unclaimed quest rewards or experience.

  5. Claim any rewards your character qualifies for.

  6. Review your XP afterward.

If the dialogue doesn't provide the lamp you're expecting, check whether that reward must be collected from the quest's original NPC.

This was the main source of confusion immediately after the update.

Method 3: Collect XP Lamps From Quest NPCs

XP lamps require special attention.

Jagex updated the November 3 announcement to clarify that these lamps are obtained from the relevant NPCs associated with the quests.

The developer specifically identified four NPCs.

Demon Slayer – Aris

NPC: Aris.

Location: Varrock Market.

Reward: Two combat lamps worth 1,000 XP each.

Speak with Aris to collect your eligible reward.

This includes players completing Demon Slayer after the November update because its lamps are collected separately from the initial quest completion.

Romeo & Juliet – Romeo

NPC: Romeo.

Location: Varrock.

Reward: One 500 XP lamp.

Speak with Romeo after completing the quest.

Check his available dialogue for the additional reward.

Shield of Arrav – King Roald

NPC: King Roald.

Location: Varrock Palace.

Reward: One 500 XP lamp.

Talk to King Roald to collect the retroactive lamp.

Ernest the Chicken – Veronica

NPC: Veronica.

Location: Outside Draynor Manor.

Reward: One 500 XP lamp.

Speak with Veronica to receive the eligible reward.

What About Black Knights' Fortress?

Black Knights' Fortress also received two combat lamps worth 1,000 XP each.

Jagex confirmed that the relevant quest NPCs handle lamp collection but did not identify the Black Knights' Fortress claim NPC individually in its published examples.

For this quest, check the originating quest contact and the current in-game reward dialogue.

Don't assume the lamps will appear in Perdu's fixed-XP reward options.

Why Your Missing Quest XP May Not Be Showing

Several issues can prevent a player from finding their expected reward.

Some involve the claim location.

Others involve account eligibility or rewards already collected.

You're Speaking to the Wrong NPC

The most common source of confusion is attempting to claim an XP lamp from Perdu or the Lumbridge Guide.

Jagex clarified that lamps are obtained from the relevant quest NPCs.

If you need a Demon Slayer lamp, visit Aris.

If you need Shield of Arrav's lamp, visit King Roald.

You've Already Claimed the Reward

The additional XP is not repeatable.

If you've collected it previously, the same reward won't become available again simply because you revisit the NPC.

Check your previous reward collection and current account experience.

The Quest Isn't Fully Completed

You must complete the affected quest to qualify for its retroactive reward.

Starting a quest or reaching its final stage isn't enough.

Open the Quest List and confirm that the quest is marked complete.

You're Expecting a Lamp for Fixed-Skill XP

Not every updated quest provides an XP lamp.

For example, Family Crest awards fixed Mining, Smithing, and Crafting experience.

Troll Stronghold awards Agility experience.

Prince Ali Rescue awards Smithing and Crafting XP.

These are not items you collect and use to choose a different skill.

You're Looking for the Original Quest Reward Again

The November update adds new XP.

It doesn't make the original quest completion rewards repeatable.

For example, you don't receive another Quest Point simply because you're claiming retroactive experience.

Your Account Has Special Restrictions

Restricted account builds should be careful when claiming XP.

Combat lamps may affect your planned skill levels.

Fixed-skill rewards can't simply be redirected into another skill.

Before claiming any experience, make sure it won't interfere with your account goals.

How to Choose the Best Skills for Your XP Lamps

The November update introduces 5,500 XP through lamps across five quests.

Some are explicitly described as combat XP lamps.

This gives players an opportunity to direct eligible combat experience toward useful progression goals.

However, the available choices depend on the specific lamp.

Attack

Attack improves melee accuracy and unlocks additional melee weapons.

If you're approaching an important weapon requirement, Attack XP may help.

Strength

Strength improves melee damage potential.

It can be useful when you're developing a Melee training build.

However, extra Strength XP may not be appropriate for every restricted account.

Defence

Defence can support survivability and equipment progression.

Additional levels may unlock stronger armor.

However, players maintaining low-Defence builds should avoid allocating XP here accidentally.

Ranged

Ranged is useful for long-distance combat and certain boss encounters.

Some players may prefer placing eligible combat XP into Ranged.

Magic

Magic provides combat spells, teleportation, and other utility.

Experience may help when you're working toward an important spell unlock.

Prayer

Prayer is valuable for protection prayers and combat bonuses.

If Prayer appears among a particular lamp's eligible skill choices, it may be worth considering.

However, don't assume every lamp allows all skills.

Always read the actual lamp selection interface before confirming your reward.

Total New XP by Skill

The fixed-skill rewards from the November update add up to 24,200 XP.

Here is how that experience is distributed.

Mining – 5,700 XP

Mining receives additional XP from:

  • Below Ice Mountain.

  • Family Crest.

  • Tale of the Righteous.

  • Throne of Miscellania.

Total: 5,700 Mining XP.

Crafting – 4,000 XP

Crafting gains experience from:

  • Prince Ali Rescue.

  • Family Crest.

  • Lost City.

Total: 4,000 Crafting XP.

Firemaking – 3,200 XP

Firemaking gains experience from:

  • The Corsair Curse.

  • Clock Tower.

  • Merlin's Crystal.

Total: 3,200 Firemaking XP.

Smithing – 2,500 XP

Smithing gains experience from:

  • Prince Ali Rescue.

  • Family Crest.

Total: 2,500 Smithing XP.

Woodcutting – 2,500 XP

Woodcutting gains experience from:

  • Lost City.

  • Throne of Miscellania.

Total: 2,500 Woodcutting XP.

Agility – 2,000 XP

Agility receives its additional experience from Troll Stronghold.

Total: 2,000 Agility XP.

Hunter – 1,000 XP

Hunter receives experience from Sheep Herder.

Total: 1,000 Hunter XP.

Fishing and Farming – 1,000 XP Each

Throne of Miscellania adds:

  • 1,000 Fishing XP.

  • 1,000 Farming XP.

Cooking – 800 XP

Pirate's Treasure adds 800 Cooking XP.

Runecraft – 500 XP

Rune Mysteries adds 500 Runecraft XP.

These fixed rewards, combined with the 5,500 XP from lamps, produce the full 29,700 XP available from the update.

Do New Players Receive These Rewards Automatically?

Yes, with an important exception.

Jagex states that the new XP is given when a player completes an affected quest after the November 3 update.

The exception is Demon Slayer.

Its combat XP lamps are collected later from Aris in Varrock Market.

New Quest Completions

When completing one of the affected quests for the first time after November 3, players receive its newly added rewards through the relevant completion process.

If the reward is an XP lamp, follow the in-game instructions for receiving or using it.

Previously Completed Quests

If you finished the quest before November 3, the new reward is retroactive.

Use Perdu, the Lumbridge Guide, or the relevant quest NPC according to the reward type.

Do You Need to Pay to Claim XP?

Jagex's announcement doesn't establish a separate GP purchase fee for the newly added retroactive experience.

Don't confuse the feature with Perdu's ordinary paid item-replacement shop.

If you're presented with a payment request for an unrelated item, check the dialogue before proceeding.

Does the November XP Update Affect Ironman Accounts?

The new quest XP rewards are part of ordinary OSRS quest progression.

Ironman accounts can benefit from eligible quest XP under their game-mode rules.

However, restricted accounts should be particularly careful with selectable experience.

Regular Ironman

Ironmen may find the fixed-skill rewards useful because they can reduce the amount of ordinary training needed.

For example, the new Mining and Crafting experience can support early progression.

Hardcore Ironman

Traditional Hardcore Ironman characters can also benefit from eligible XP rewards.

However, their death rules remain separate from those of the newer Hardcore Worlds mode.

The XP update doesn't change their Hardcore status or death protection.

Ultimate Ironman

Ultimate Ironman players should pay attention to how lamp rewards are collected and handled.

Inventory management matters for accounts without ordinary banking.

Use the appropriate quest NPC and avoid assuming the lamp can always be stored indefinitely.

Restricted Combat Builds

Players preserving a particular Defence, Prayer, or other combat level should check every lamp selection carefully.

Accidental XP allocation may affect account eligibility for certain builds or activities.

Fixed-skill XP rewards should also be reviewed before completing quests.

Are Quest XP Rewards Different in Hardcore Worlds?

No special Quest Month XP multiplier was announced for Hardcore Worlds.

Hardcore Worlds uses normal OSRS experience rates.

The 18 updated quests provide the same stated quest rewards when the character qualifies.

However, the mode's strict death rules still apply to dangerous gameplay.

Questing Safely in Hardcore Worlds

If you're completing an affected quest for the first time, review its requirements.

Some quests involve combat, dangerous travel, or unfamiliar enemies.

Don't risk a developed Hardcore Worlds character simply to claim a small XP reward.

Can You Claim XP After Resetting?

A Hardcore Worlds Reset wipes accumulated character gameplay progression.

A restarted character follows the normal quest-completion and reward rules for its new run.

You shouldn't assume XP from a previous run remains available on the restarted character.

The November XP additions are ordinary quest rewards, not permanent account-wide credits that survive every reset.

Do the XP Changes Affect Quest Points?

The additional XP rewards don't replace Quest Points or create extra Quest Points for the 18 affected quests.

For example, Family Crest gains 6,000 XP across Mining, Smithing, and Crafting, but that doesn't mean it now awards an additional six Quest Points.

XP and Quest Points are separate reward systems.

However, one other November change is worth understanding.

Daddy's Home Became a Full Quest

Jagex converted Daddy's Home from a miniquest into a full quest on November 3.

It now appears in the Quest List and rewards one Quest Point.

This is a separate change from the 18 retroactive XP updates.

If you're working toward full quest completion, check whether Daddy's Home is marked complete.

Quest Month Introduced More New Quests

The November 3 update also introduced Mudfoot's Big Adventure and The Writing's on the Wall.

These are new quests with their own experience and equipment rewards.

They are not part of the group of 18 older quests receiving retroactive XP.

For details about the new adventures, see our OSRS November 2026 Quest Month guide.

Common Mistakes When Claiming Retroactive Quest XP

Before visiting NPCs across Gielinor, avoid these common errors.

Going Only to Perdu

Perdu is useful for the retroactive XP system, but he doesn't distribute every new lamp.

Some lamps require a specific quest NPC.

Expecting Every Reward to Be Selectable

Many of the new rewards are assigned to specific skills.

You cannot freely move Troll Stronghold's 2,000 XP into Magic or Prayer.

Forgetting Demon Slayer's Exception

Demon Slayer's two lamps are collected from Aris even for newly completed quests.

Don't assume they'll appear automatically at the same moment as the quest completion.

Confusing the Total With Your Personal Eligibility

29,700 XP is the total new reward pool across all 18 quests.

If your character hasn't completed every quest, it won't qualify for every reward.

Claiming Experience Without Reviewing Account Restrictions

Selectable combat XP can affect restricted builds.

Check eligibility and your intended skill before confirming.

Following an Outdated November 3 Guide

Some guides published when the update first launched didn't reflect Jagex's later clarification about lamp collection.

Use the corrected NPC instructions.

Final Thoughts: Don't Leave Your Quest XP Unclaimed

OSRS Quest Month isn't only about new adventures.

The November 3, 2026 update also improved the value of 18 existing quests.

For new players, these rewards provide extra experience during ordinary progression.

For returning players, they offer an opportunity to collect XP from quests completed long before the update.

Across the full list, the additions total 29,700 XP.

Some of the most valuable rewards include Family Crest's 6,000 XP, Throne of Miscellania's 4,000 XP, and Lost City's 3,000 XP.

Demon Slayer and Black Knights' Fortress also provide new combat XP lamps.

However, claiming those rewards requires understanding the difference between ordinary retroactive XP and quest lamps.

Perdu and the Lumbridge Guide can help with the additional retroactive experience.

The lamps must be obtained from their relevant quest NPCs, including Aris, Romeo, King Roald, and Veronica for the specifically confirmed cases.

If your quest is complete but the reward isn't appearing, check the correct NPC before assuming the XP is missing.

And remember that this is not a limited-time XP event.

The changes are part of the normal quest reward system, so there's no need to risk your character rushing through dangerous activities simply to collect experience.
