Background

GW2 Nexus of Eternity Convergence Guide

The GW2 Nexus of Eternity Convergence is a large-scale Visions of Eternity: Code of Creation encounter where up to 50 players gather Power of Ancora, stabilize six visions from Tyria’s past, keep Isgarren’s resurrection magic active, and eventually defeat Director Vloxx across Staff, Spear, Sword, and final-form phases. Unlike earlier Convergences built around rotating bosses, Nexus of Eternity is one continuous multi-stage battle. This guide explains the full encounter, every vision objective, Power of Ancora, Wisp Form, Vloxx mechanics, achievements, rewards, and the mistakes that most often slow a group down.

What Is the Nexus of Eternity Convergence?

Nexus of Eternity is the Visions of Eternity Convergence introduced with Code of Creation.

It is designed for up to 50 players and takes place within a vision-filled section of the Mists connected mechanically to Castora.

The major difference from older Guild Wars 2 Convergences is its structure.

Instead of entering and receiving one boss from a rotating selection, Nexus of Eternity follows one large encounter from beginning to end.

You will:

  • defeat cosmic manifestations;

  • collect Power of Ancora;

  • enter pairs of vision portals;

  • complete objectives based on important moments from Tyria’s history;

  • return to fight Vloxx;

  • repeat the vision process as Vloxx changes weapons;

  • and finally defeat him in an AoE-heavy last phase.

Every run shows the complete Vloxx encounter rather than choosing one boss from a rotation.

That makes understanding the full sequence much more valuable than learning only one isolated mechanic.

How to Enter Nexus of Eternity

The entrance is located in Leyspring Hollows, within the Rooted Sanctuary area south of the Cannulae point of interest.

You need access to Guild Wars 2: Visions of Eternity.

There are two main ways to enter.

Public Convergence

The public version opens through the Nexus of Eternity Convergence portal during its normal public-access window.

This is the easiest option for most players because you can enter without organizing your own full squad.

If your goal is simply to:

  • learn the encounter;

  • earn the daily completion reward;

  • farm achievement progress;

  • collect essence;

  • or practice Vloxx mechanics;

public groups are usually the most convenient place to start.

Private Squad

A private squad can open Nexus of Eternity independently by using an Unstable Rift Motivation.

This gives organized groups more control over the players entering the instance and is useful when coordinating achievements or difficult versions of the encounter.

You do not need to treat Normal Mode like a raid composition.

A healthy public group with players actively collecting essence and completing vision objectives can handle the encounter much more efficiently than a technically perfect subgroup setup where half the squad ignores mechanics.

Nexus of Eternity Encounter Flow

The entire Convergence follows a repeating structure:

Cosmic manifestations → two visions → Vloxx with Staff → two visions → Vloxx with Spear → two visions → Vloxx with Sword → Vloxx final form

The Vloxx health thresholds are approximately:

  • 100%–70%: Staff

  • 70%–40%: Spear

  • 40%–10%: Sword

  • 10%–0%: Final form

The six visions are distributed across three vision phases, with two portals active each time.

Once both current visions have been stabilized, the squad returns to fighting Vloxx.

This rhythm is important.

Do not stay standing in the central arena waiting for other players to complete the visions.

If portals are open, enter one and help.

The faster both vision groups finish, the faster everyone gets back to Vloxx.

Power of Ancora Explained

Power of Ancora is the most important unique mechanic in Nexus of Eternity.

Enemies drop glowing essence during the encounter.

Running over the essence collects it and adds stacks of Power of Ancora.

You can hold up to 50 stacks.

Each stack increases your offensive potential but also lowers your maximum health.

The current effect provides per stack:

  • increased Power;

  • increased Condition Damage;

  • increased Concentration;

  • 1% reduced maximum health.

That creates the core risk-versus-reward system.

At high stacks, you become stronger.

You also become significantly easier to kill.

What Happens at 50 Power of Ancora?

Reaching 50 stacks automatically consumes your accumulated essence.

That does three important things:

  • slows Vloxx’s attempt to complete his plan;

  • contributes to Isgarren’s Resurrection Spell;

  • unlocks a powerful profession-specific special action skill.

You then begin gathering essence again.

Do not deliberately stop collecting at 40 or 45 because your health is lower.

The encounter is designed around reaching the maximum and triggering the payoff.

ArenaNet specifically changed the essence system for Nexus of Eternity so players need to commit to reaching the cap before the essence clears.

Why Essence Collection Is So Important

Some players treat essence as optional bonus damage.

It is not.

Power of Ancora influences the entire encounter.

Reaching 50 stacks contributes to the group's ability to resist Vloxx's progression and charges the resurrection system used to bring dead players back.

This means a player running past essence because they want to reach the next target two seconds faster may actually be hurting the entire group.

When enemies die:

Run through the essence.

Do not assume somebody else will collect it.

Large groups become dramatically smoother when everyone participates.

Power of Ancora Risk Management

Because every stack reduces maximum health, careless essence gathering can make an already vulnerable player extremely fragile.

The answer is not to stop gathering.

The answer is to play more carefully as your stacks increase.

At high Power of Ancora:

  • avoid standing in obvious AoEs;

  • do not greed attacks through dangerous telegraphs;

  • stay within support range where possible;

  • use defensive skills intelligently;

  • watch green mechanics carefully;

  • and avoid unnecessary downstates.

Your damage becomes stronger as your health pool shrinks.

The mechanic rewards aggressive collection but punishes reckless combat.

That balance is the entire point.

What Happens to Essence When You Go Down?

Going into the Downed state causes you to lose your Power of Ancora stacks.

Part of the dropped essence disappears, while the remainder can be collected after you recover or picked up by nearby players.

This is another reason downing repeatedly is costly.

You are not only losing personal DPS.

You are potentially losing progress toward the next 50-stack activation.

If you have a large amount of essence:

Your survival matters more than squeezing in one extra attack.

Profession-Specific Ascended Skills

After reaching 50 Power of Ancora, your character receives a powerful special action skill determined by profession.

These are not cosmetic rewards.

They can provide serious damage, healing, crowd control, boons, movement, or defensive utility.

Examples include:

  • Engineer – The Big Gun
    Launches a heavy missile attack capable of dealing substantial damage while providing useful offensive boons and control.

  • Mesmer – Mirror Wall
    Creates a magical wall that can provide boons, interfere with enemies, and reflect projectiles.

  • Necromancer – Aberrant Feast
    Produces strong offensive pressure while siphoning health from enemies.

  • Thief – Shadow Dance
    Uses shadowstep-based movement and offensive utility while granting useful boons.

  • Warrior – Ferocious Assault
    Provides an aggressive sequence with damage, defensive protection, and crowd-control utility.

Other professions receive their own skills.

Do not forget the special action button after earning it.

One of the dedicated achievements even tracks repeated use of these profession abilities, so sitting on the skill for the entire encounter wastes both power and achievement progress.

Wizard's Blessing

Players with the relevant Convergence mastery can gain Wizard's Blessing after completing the Power of Ancora cycle.

This further rewards players who actively participate in the essence system.

Depending on your unlocked mastery benefits, the buff improves your ability to remain active and support the encounter.

The important practical takeaway is simple:

Convergence masteries make Nexus of Eternity easier, but the core encounter remains completely playable without relying on them to replace mechanics.

Wisp Form and Resurrection

Death works differently inside the Convergence.

When a player dies, they enter Wisp Form instead of simply remaining as a normal defeated character.

Wisps are invulnerable and gain a dedicated support skill set.

They can help living players instead of simply waiting.

Available Wisp abilities include tools for:

  • healing;

  • barrier;

  • condition cleansing;

  • Stability;

  • Protection;

  • Aegis;

  • reviving downed allies;

  • and fast movement.

Depending on unlocked masteries, Wisp Form can become even more useful.

Do Not Become AFK Because You Died

A dead player is not useless.

Use your Wisp abilities.

Healing or protecting living players may be the difference between the squad stabilizing and losing even more people.

Your group continues filling Isgarren's Resurrection Spell through essence collection.

When the resurrection completes, dead players in Wisp Form are returned to combat.

Starting Phase: Cosmic Manifestations

The encounter begins with waves of cosmic creatures.

This phase is intentionally straightforward and teaches the two systems you need for the rest of the Convergence:

kill enemies and collect Power of Ancora.

Eventually stronger Champion manifestations appear.

Focus priority enemies while remaining close enough to your group for boons and healing.

The opening is also an ideal time to build your first 50-stack essence cycle.

Do Not Leave Essence Behind

Groups often rush toward the next enemy pack while leaving a field of Power of Ancora behind them.

That is inefficient.

Take a moment to sweep through the dropped essence.

The small amount of movement time is worth it because reaching 50 stacks:

  • strengthens the player;

  • slows Vloxx's progress;

  • charges resurrection;

  • and unlocks the profession skill.

Once the first manifestation phase is complete, Vloxx opens the initial pair of vision portals.

How the Vision Portals Work

There are six possible visions.

Two are active during each vision stage.

Players enter through the portals and complete the objective inside.

Both active visions must be stabilized before the encounter continues.

The six visions are:

  • Vision of Zealotry

  • Vision of Ineptitude

  • Vision of Affliction

  • Vision of Collapse

  • Vision of the End

  • Vision of Impending Doom

These are callbacks to threats, disasters, and ideological failures from Tyria's history.

Mechanically, however, you do not need deep lore knowledge.

You need to recognize the objective quickly.

Vision of Zealotry – Grothmar Valley

This vision takes the group back to conflict involving the charr.

Your main objective is straightforward:

Defeat the marked enemies and champions, then defeat the final boss.

Do not waste time attacking unrelated background enemies.

Look for the event markers.

Move from target to target as a group.

Once the vision has been stabilized, use the return portal.

Best Tip

Stack where possible and burn priority targets quickly.

This vision is mostly combat, so there is little reason for the squad to spread around the entire area.

Vision of Ineptitude – Luminates Plant

This vision involves Destroyers attacking the facility.

Your objectives include:

  • defeating marked enemies;

  • clearing enemies protecting Destroyer fissures;

  • closing the fissures;

  • and defeating the Megadestroyer.

Players often lose time because they continue farming enemies after the actual interaction objective has become available.

Watch the event UI.

Once a fissure can be closed, complete the objective instead of continuing unnecessary combat.

After the Megadestroyer is defeated, return through the portal.

Vision of Affliction – Scarab Plague

This vision is mechanically different from the others.

Your group needs to deal with swarms of scarabs.

Mount movement becomes useful here.

Run over the scarab groups to progress the objective until the boss becomes available.

Then converge on the boss and defeat it.

Common Mistake

Do not dismount immediately and attack individual tiny enemies manually unless necessary.

The vision is built around clearing the scarab objective efficiently.

Use the movement mechanics the event provides.

Vision of Collapse – Magus Dam

This vision focuses on an elemental disaster around the Magus Dam.

Your group must:

  • clear marked elementals;

  • rescue trapped NPCs;

  • deal with large Earth Elemental hands;

  • and complete the remaining event objectives.

This vision rewards players who pay attention to more than enemy health bars.

If the event asks you to rescue somebody or interact with an objective:

Do it.

A player completing the non-combat objective can contribute more to finishing the vision than a player chasing another Champion.

Vision of the End

Vision of the End is one of the most unusual Nexus of Eternity objectives.

Players carry fire between braziers, keeping the flame alive as it moves toward the final objective.

Once the flame sequence is completed, an Ice Elemental encounter follows.

Torch Handling

Watch the torch duration.

If needed, the torch can be thrown to help maintain progress or pass responsibility to another player.

Do not run far ahead with no idea where the next brazier is.

Follow the intended route and work with nearby players.

Once the flame reaches the end, defeat the boss and return.

Vision of Impending Doom – Encroaching Mists

This vision presents Lion's Arch under attack.

The group needs to:

  • defeat hostile creatures;

  • close dangerous rifts;

  • and clear the event progression.

Again, prioritize event objectives.

If a rift needs closing, do not ignore it because a nearby enemy still has health.

Convergence visions are won by completing objectives, not by maximizing the number of creatures killed.

First Vloxx Phase – Staff, 100% to 70%

After the first two visions have been stabilized, Vloxx becomes vulnerable.

The first weapon phase uses the Staff.

This is where players begin seeing the major recurring Vloxx mechanics.

Targeted Orange AoEs

Some players receive a large orange or red circle.

Move away from the main group.

The attack can leave a damaging area where it resolves.

Dropping one directly under the squad forces dozens of players to move.

Instead:

Take your circle outward, let it resolve, then return.

Do not run so far away that you lose all healing and support.

Teleport and Shockwave

Vloxx can reposition and create a large shockwave.

Watch the expanding effect rather than staring only at the boss's health bar.

You can avoid the wave with properly timed movement or a dodge.

Because Nexus of Eternity is a large public encounter, visual clutter can be heavy.

Turning down unnecessary effect clutter can make major telegraphs easier to see.

Judgment of Eternity Green Circles

Vloxx can place green circles on selected players.

The icon above the green shows how many players are required inside.

If the circle does not contain enough players when it resolves, the mechanic punishes the affected group.

There is also a restriction preventing the same helper from immediately solving multiple greens in succession.

How to Handle Greens

  • Marked players should avoid overlapping their circles.

  • Nearby unmarked players should enter separate greens.

  • Fill the displayed player requirement.

  • Remain until the mechanic resolves.

  • Then return to the main group.

Do not stack multiple green circles directly on top of one another.

The mechanic is easier when each green receives its own group of helpers.

Ascension's Sacrifice

Another green-style mechanic can place cosmic chains on a targeted player and interfere with their movement.

Allies need to help resolve the mechanic correctly.

If the effect fails, players can suffer:

  • damage;

  • conditions;

  • boon removal;

  • displacement;

  • and other penalties.

A stun break or Stability may help against some of the control effects, but that does not mean you should ignore the mechanic itself.

Green means group responsibility.

If somebody near you needs players inside their marker, help them.

Second Vloxx Phase – Spear, 70% to 40%

At around 70% health, Vloxx becomes invulnerable again.

Two more vision portals appear.

Complete both visions and return.

Vloxx then switches to the Spear.

The most important positioning rule in the Spear phase is:

Stay behind Vloxx whenever possible.

Several dangerous Spear attacks are focused in large frontal areas.

Thousand Strikes

One of Vloxx's Spear attacks produces a huge frontal series of rapid strikes.

If you are standing directly in front of him, the attack can hit repeatedly.

Move behind or to the side before it resolves.

This is much safer than trying to heal through the entire sequence.

Large Frontal Attacks

Other Spear patterns also emphasize wide cones and dangerous ground zones.

The exact visuals vary, but your response is consistent:

  • watch Vloxx's facing;

  • stay near his rear;

  • move out of orange telegraphs;

  • do not stand in lingering fields.

The group becomes significantly easier to heal when everyone stops treating the boss's front as a normal stack position.

Third Vision Pair

When Vloxx reaches approximately 40%, another pair of portals appears.

These are the final two visions.

At this point, all six historical scenarios will have been presented during the run.

Do not become impatient because the boss is already below half health.

Complete the vision mechanics properly.

The encounter cannot progress until they are stabilized.

Once both groups return, the Sword phase begins.

Third Vloxx Phase – Sword, 40% to 10%

The Sword phase adds another set of heavy attacks.

Again, positioning behind Vloxx removes much of the frontal pressure.

Sword mechanics can also create moving or repeating danger zones.

Keep Watching After the First Dodge

One of the easiest mistakes is dodging the initial attack and immediately returning to exactly the same location.

Some sword patterns continue moving across the arena or echo after the first hit.

Do not assume the ground is safe because the original telegraph disappeared.

Give the sequence a moment to finish.

Keep Green Mechanics in Mind

Weapon changes do not mean the encounter forgets its earlier core mechanics.

If green circles appear:

solve the green.

If you are carrying an orange AoE:

move it away.

If Power of Ancora drops:

collect it.

The encounter gets difficult when players focus so heavily on the newest weapon attack that they forget the mechanics that have been active all fight.

Final Vloxx Phase – 10% to 0%

At approximately 10% health, Vloxx enters his final form and moves toward the middle.

This portion contains heavy AoE pressure.

The arena can become visually busy very quickly.

Spread Without Isolating Yourself

Standing in one giant stack can concentrate several targeted AoEs into the same location.

A loose spread can make the phase much safer.

However, do not run to the opposite side of the arena alone.

You still benefit from:

  • healing;

  • boons;

  • revives;

  • profession special skills;

  • and nearby support.

Think controlled spread, not complete separation.

Range Is Useful

Players with meaningful ranged damage often have an easier time maintaining uptime during the final section.

Melee builds are still viable, but do not force yourself into a dangerous location solely to maintain perfect damage.

The boss is almost dead. Surviving is more valuable than one final greedy rotation.

Best Builds for Nexus of Eternity Convergence

Normal Mode does not require a raid-level meta build.

Still, some build qualities are especially valuable.

Strong Open-World Builds

This is large-scale PvE with frequent movement and mechanics.

A strong open-world setup often performs better than an extremely fragile benchmark build.

Look for:

  • solid self-sustain;

  • useful cleave;

  • movement;

  • crowd control;

  • boon access;

  • and damage that continues while repositioning.

Ranged Damage

Ranged options make several Vloxx phases more comfortable, particularly the final form.

You do not need to change profession just for the encounter, but having a ranged weapon swap can be useful.

Condition Cleanse

Several encounter mechanics can apply conditions.

Bringing one reliable cleanse prevents a small mechanic from turning into a downstate.

Stun Breaks and Stability

Vloxx can control or displace players.

A personal stun break is extremely useful.

Revive Utility

Large Convergences create plenty of opportunities to help downed players.

Fast revival tools can prevent a player from entering Wisp Form and losing their essence.

Best Commander Strategy

Commanders do not need to micromanage 50 players.

The most useful instructions are simple.

Before starting, remind the squad:

  • Collect every Power of Ancora orb.

  • At 50 stacks, use your profession special skill.

  • Enter vision portals instead of waiting outside.

  • Split reasonably between the two active visions.

  • Fill green circles.

  • Take orange AoEs away from the squad.

  • Stay behind Vloxx during Spear and Sword whenever possible.

  • If dead, actively support the squad in Wisp Form.

These seven instructions solve a large percentage of normal-mode problems.

Common Nexus of Eternity Mistakes

Ignoring Power of Ancora

Essence is not optional loot.

It directly contributes to encounter progress, resurrection, and your profession special action skill.

Pick it up.

Going Down With High Essence

Power of Ancora lowers your maximum health.

At high stacks, respect mechanics more carefully.

Repeated downstates waste valuable essence.

Not Using the Ascended Profession Skill

If you reach 50 stacks and receive a powerful special action skill, use it.

Do not save it until the encounter is already over.

Ignoring Vision Portals

Every active player standing outside a vision makes the players inside work harder.

Enter a portal.

Fighting Random Enemies in Visions

Follow the event objective.

Many visions involve interactions, fissures, brazier mechanics, rescues, or specific marked targets.

Overlapping Green Circles

Separate them and fill each requirement individually.

Dropping Orange AoEs on the Squad

Move outward before they resolve.

Standing in Front of Spear Vloxx

Much of his dangerous pressure is frontal.

Move behind him.

Doing Nothing in Wisp Form

You still have support abilities.

Use them.

Greeding the Final 10%

A low-health boss can still kill you.

Finish mechanics first.

Nexus of Eternity Achievements

Normal Nexus of Eternity has several achievements tied to repeated clears, essence collection, and profession abilities.

Nexus of Eternity: Convergence Conqueror

Complete the Nexus of Eternity Convergence.

The achievement has multiple progression tiers for additional completions.

Early rewards include a Visions of Eternity Mastery Point, and later tiers award items such as the Relic of the Visionary and Convergence Extraction rewards.

Continuous Convergence Conqueror

After completing the original progression track, additional clears contribute toward the repeatable Continuous Convergence Conqueror achievement.

This rewards players who continue farming the Convergence beyond the initial completion milestones.

Nexus of Eternity Essence Collector

Collect 500 essence within Nexus of Eternity Convergences.

This is repeatable.

If you are actively playing the encounter correctly, this progresses naturally.

The fastest strategy is not complicated:

Stop leaving essence on the floor.

Nexus of Eternity Power Unleashed

Use your profession's special ascended skill 25 times.

Because you gain the skill after reaching 50 Power of Ancora, this achievement effectively rewards repeated essence cycles.

If you are chasing it specifically:

  • collect aggressively;

  • reach 50;

  • use the skill;

  • immediately begin the next essence cycle.

Weekly Convergence Progress

Repeated Nexus of Eternity completions also contribute toward its weekly achievement track.

Rewards include items such as an Unstable Rift Motivation and Convergence Extraction.

This makes repeated normal clears useful even after completing the one-time achievement tiers.

Nexus of Eternity Rewards

Nexus of Eternity has both daily and repeatable reward layers.

A successful daily completion can award the Convergence: Nexus of Eternity Commander's Choice Chest along with standard experience, currency, karma, and gear rewards.

Repeat clears can still provide useful rewards, including:

  • Rift Essence Coffers;

  • Rift Essence;

  • rare unidentified gear;

  • Castoran reward boxes;

  • Convergence-related currency and materials;

  • achievement progression.

Players with the relevant Convergence Mastery can also gain the Rift Essence Extractor effect after defeating Vloxx, improving related Rift Essence farming.

Some individual quantities depend on participation and mastery unlocks.

For most players, the strongest reason to run Nexus of Eternity repeatedly is the combination of Convergence rewards, Rift Essence progression, achievements, and Code of Creation collection goals rather than one single drop.

Nexus of Eternity Convergence vs Raid

Do not confuse the Convergence with the Nexus of Eternity Raid.

They share:

  • Director Vloxx;

  • weapon themes;

  • green mechanics;

  • Ancora;

  • and several visual ideas.

But they are different activities.

Convergence

  • Up to 50 players.

  • Includes Power of Ancora essence.

  • Includes six historical vision objectives.

  • Uses Wisp Form and Isgarren's Resurrection Spell.

  • Designed as large-scale instanced PvE.

  • More forgiving in Normal Mode.

Raid

  • 10 players.

  • Much tighter personal responsibility.

  • Uses Ascension and Empowered more aggressively.

  • No large public-group structure.

  • More demanding positioning and coordination.

Knowing the Convergence can help you recognize Vloxx's visual language before entering the raid, but completing one does not mean you automatically know every mechanic in the other.

Nexus of Eternity Convergence vs Challenge Mode

Nexus of Eternity also has a dedicated Challenge Mode.

Normal Mode should be learned first.

The standard Convergence teaches:

  • essence management;

  • profession skills;

  • vision objectives;

  • Vloxx weapon phases;

  • green mechanics;

  • movement;

  • Wisp Form;

  • and final-phase AoE management.

Challenge Mode is better treated as its own guide because its search intent is different and its mechanics should not be mixed into a normal-mode walkthrough.

If you only want a reliable normal clear, everything in this guide is enough to understand the encounter foundation.

Yes. Challenge Mode is a separate harder version and should be treated separately from the Normal Mode strategy in this guide.

Conclusion

The GW2 Nexus of Eternity Convergence becomes much easier once you understand that Vloxx is only part of the encounter.

The real system is built around Power of Ancora, vision objectives, resurrection, and cooperation.

Collect every essence orb you can. Reach 50 stacks. Use your profession's ascended skill. If you die, support the squad in Wisp Form instead of waiting. When vision portals appear, enter them and complete the actual event objective instead of fighting random enemies.

Against Vloxx, keep the fundamentals simple.

Move targeted AoEs away from the group. Fill green circles. Watch shockwaves. Stay behind his Spear and Sword attacks where possible. During the final phase, spread enough to avoid stacking every AoE without isolating yourself from support.

A group that does those things consistently does not need perfect DPS to make Nexus of Eternity feel smooth.
