What Is Code of Creation in GW2?

Code of Creation is the final story act of Guild Wars 2: Visions of Eternity.

It contains six chapters:

  • Deeper Revelations

  • Under Pressure

  • Ripples in the Pond

  • The Burden of Seeing

  • So Be It

  • Everything That We Are

The story picks up after So It Is Written and moves the Commander’s attention from the earlier mysteries of Castora toward the final conflict surrounding Vloxx.

ArenaNet also uses this part of the story to introduce Leyspring Hollows, expand the seer storyline, resolve Kuda’s growing Inquest threat, and establish the events behind Nexus of Eternity.

Code of Creation is not just a chain of dialogue instances.

You will move between:

  • Rata Sum;

  • Eternity’s Garden;

  • Leyspring Hollows;

  • Inquest facilities;

  • ancient seer locations;

  • astral scenarios;

  • and the final confrontation with Vloxx.

There are also many achievements hidden inside story steps.

If you care about the Code of Creation Mastery meta achievement, it is worth slowing down instead of rushing directly through the green story markers.

Complete GW2 Code of Creation story guide covering all six chapters, achievements, Kuda’s password, Vloxx, Ascension, rewards, and missable objectives.

Before Starting Code of Creation

You should be on a level 80 character with access to Guild Wars 2: Visions of Eternity.

It is also strongly recommended that you complete the earlier Visions of Eternity chapters first.

Code of Creation is the ending of the expansion rather than a standalone storyline.

The direct story order immediately before it ends with:

On the Threshold → Within Your Grasp → Divitium Nava → A Bold Strategy → So It Is Written → Code of Creation

The plot assumes you already understand:

  • who Vloxx is;

  • why the Commander came to Castora;

  • what happened to Isgarren;

  • the conflict surrounding the seers;

  • Kuda’s relationship with the Inquest;

  • and why Vloxx’s new power is dangerous.

You can technically follow objective markers without remembering every detail, but the finale makes much more sense if the previous chapters are fresh.

Chapter 1 – Deeper Revelations

Deeper Revelations begins the final act by sending the Commander back toward Rata Sum before opening the route into Leyspring Hollows.

The chapter combines investigation, politics, exploration, and one of the more unusual navigation sections in Code of Creation.

A major early objective involves helping Councillor Ludo challenge High Councillor Flax and Councillor Yahk.

You will need to support the case with evidence.

Investigative Efficiency

This achievement asks you to present the correct evidence to the Arcane Council before the initial timer expires each time.

The correct sequence is:

  1. Receipts for Material Purchases

  2. Copy of FILE 9C-0204L: Port Authority Terminal Audit Order

  3. Audio Log Recovered on Castora

Do not randomly click evidence if you want the achievement.

Read the prompt, select the correct item immediately, and avoid using trial and error.

A wrong choice or slow response can cost eligibility and force a replay if you want the achievement later.

Into the Depths

Another achievement asks you to locate four seer tablets across Eternity’s Garden and Leyspring Hollows.

The broad locations are:

  • near Deepwood Outpost;

  • near Gardesano’s Atelier;

  • inside the Spire of Exaltation route;

  • and inside the underground seer passageway.

The important part is that these are spread across different parts of the chapter rather than placed together.

Interact with them when you encounter them instead of planning to backtrack later.

One is tied closely to the story route through the ancient passageways, making it especially easy to forget once you move on.

Torchbearer

The underground passage contains one of the chapter’s most memorable mechanics.

You need to carry a torch through the ancient seer passage without allowing its flame to go out.

For the Torchbearer achievement:

  • keep the torch with you from start to finish;

  • do not drop it;

  • watch its remaining duration;

  • refresh it at burning torch pillars;

  • and keep moving between safe refresh points.

The flame lasts roughly 15 seconds before it needs refreshing.

Do not sprint blindly into the darkness.

Look ahead, identify the next source of fire, refresh, then continue.

If the path is difficult to see, increasing your in-game brightness or gamma can make the route much easier to read.

Deeper Revelations Tips

This chapter is easiest if you treat it as an exploration chapter rather than a race.

Check interactable objects before advancing major story objectives.

Once you pass certain instance transitions, going back for an achievement may require replaying part of the chapter.

Your priorities should be:

  • get Investigative Efficiency during the council sequence;

  • collect the seer tablets as you encounter them;

  • complete Torchbearer carefully;

  • and continue until you successfully reach Leyspring Hollows.

Completing the chapter awards the Deeper Revelations story achievement.

Chapter 2 – Under Pressure

Under Pressure shifts the focus toward Kuda and the Inquest operating inside Leyspring Hollows.

This chapter is much more investigation-heavy.

You will search Inquest-controlled locations, inspect equipment, uncover their plans, and gain a clearer picture of what Kuda is trying to accomplish.

There are three achievements worth paying attention to while exploring.

Inquest Investigator

Once you reach the secret laboratory, search for all six important clues.

These include:

  • an Inquest Datapad;

  • an Inquest Golem;

  • an Inquest Containment Cell;

  • an Inquest Hoverbike;

  • an Inquest Turret;

  • an Inquest Power Module.

Do not leave the area as soon as the main story objective updates.

Sweep the lab before advancing.

The objects are environmental investigation targets rather than enemies, so it is very easy to run straight past one while following the story marker.

Finding all six completes Inquest Investigator.

Malicious Intent

Kuda has five audio logs scattered through Leyspring Hollows.

You need all five for Malicious Intent.

They are spread between places such as:

  • the Attuning Chamber area;

  • the Ordnance Depot;

  • above the Sealed Vestibule;

  • south of the Navarium Core;

  • and the Augmented Atelier.

Some are positioned vertically rather than sitting directly on the obvious route.

That is important.

Look above and below you, not only at the minimap.

One of the logs is placed high on fungal growth, while another requires entering Inquest-controlled infrastructure.

Password Guesser

You eventually encounter a password sequence connected to Kuda.

For the achievement, you must enter the correct password without making a wrong guess.

The correct order is:

  1. Rata

  2. Coffee

  3. Dolyak

Do not experiment with the other choices if you want the achievement on the first run.

Under Pressure Tips

This chapter rewards curiosity.

Kuda’s logs and Inquest equipment also provide additional context around the story, so the achievements are not merely checklist content.

Take time to inspect the facilities.

A good rule is:

When the story tells you to investigate an Inquest area, fully investigate it before leaving.

Completing the chapter awards the Under Pressure achievement.

Chapter 3 – Ripples in the Pond

Ripples in the Pond turns the story back toward Vloxx and the problem of how to actually stop him.

The Commander regroups at the Hall of Assemblage with Isgarren, Dagda, and other allies before searching for Vloxx’s magical traces deeper in Leyspring Hollows.

There is also an optional connection to the Depths of Cruelty meta-event.

The most important mechanics in this chapter involve:

  • tracking magical signatures;

  • using the skimmer’s Aetherlocation ability;

  • fighting empowered chak;

  • and eventually confronting Vloxx directly.

Chak Studies

While searching for Vloxx’s magical traces, keep your Skimmer’s Aetherlocation active.

Three hidden seer field notes can be uncovered.

They are associated with areas around:

  • the Infested Sluiceways;

  • water east of the Ley Distributary;

  • and an overlook south of the Navarium Core.

The notes are easy to miss because they are connected to the same Aetherlocation search mechanic you are already using for story progression.

When you see a nearby hidden discovery, search the surrounding terrain before moving directly to the main marker.

Undaunted

One of the chapter’s main combat tests is an empowered chak sequence.

For Undaunted, you must survive the entire encounter without being downed.

This sequence includes:

  • an empowered Champion Chak Blitzer;

  • several combat waves;

  • mounted retreat sections;

  • projectile and AoE pressure;

  • regular and veteran chak;

  • and a final Elite Chak Blitzer section.

The important part is not killing everything as fast as possible.

It is staying alive.

During mounted escape sequences:

Follow the route and avoid enemy fire instead of trying to fight from a bad position.

During combat sections, prioritize dangerous enemies, stay mobile, and use defensive skills early rather than waiting until you are nearly downed.

Speak Your Truth

During the conversation with Vloxx, there is an opportunity to respond through an emote.

Use an appropriate emote during the objective where you attempt to reason with him.

Current achievement documentation confirms /yes or /no can satisfy the condition during the relevant conversation.

Because the opportunity happens during dialogue, it is easy to miss if you advance immediately.

Watch the objective text before clicking through.

Ripples in the Pond Tips

This chapter is a good reminder that Code of Creation mixes combat with exploration.

Do not treat the skimmer sequence as simple transportation.

Aetherlocation is doing double duty:

  • progressing the story;

  • and revealing optional discoveries.

The empowered chak section is also one of the best places to switch temporarily to a more durable open-world build if your regular setup is extremely fragile.

Completing the chapter awards Ripples in the Pond.

Chapter 4 – The Burden of Seeing

The Burden of Seeing is one of the most important lore chapters in Code of Creation.

The Commander prepares for the confrontation ahead by learning more about the seers, Isgarren’s perspective, and the cost of taking on greater power.

The story also begins preparing you mechanically for what happens in So Be It.

This chapter contains several substantial achievements.

Doyen Explorer

Inside Sidony’s Scriptorium, search the office thoroughly.

You need to interact with seven pieces of information:

  • Statue of Doyen Sidony

  • Seer Painting

  • Seer Mirror

  • Seer Sigil

  • A Doyen’s Burden

  • Immortal Justice

  • Noninterventionist Rationalization: A Primer

Do this after the Mists-dampening defenses allow you to explore the area properly.

Do not immediately leave once the main objective progresses.

The books and artifacts provide some of the strongest background material in the chapter, especially around seer leadership and their philosophy of intervention.

Impeccable Judgment

Isgarren eventually presents a scenario designed to test the Commander’s judgment.

You are shown pairs of suspects and must identify who is corrupt.

There are ten suspects in the wider sequence, with seven correct decisions needed for the achievement.

The key is not speed.

Read the reports.

Each scenario provides information that allows you to determine which individual is acting corruptly.

If you accuse an innocent target, achievement eligibility is lost for that attempt.

This is one of the few Code of Creation achievements where blindly clicking the marked NPCs can actively work against you.

Final Preparations

Final Preparations is not merely optional achievement hunting.

It is integrated into story progression.

The Commander needs to prepare to receive greater magical power by attuning to Castora.

The collection involves eight steps in total.

One of those components also connects to the Final Preparations: Castoran Creatures achievement, which asks you to locate five friendly creatures across Eternity’s Garden.

Their clue areas include:

  • southern Ley-Drowned Quarry;

  • northern Mothmarsh;

  • northern underwater Ley-Drowned Quarry;

  • northern Deepwood;

  • southern beaches near the Temple of the Blessed Mantle.

Take your time with this section.

Final Preparations is supposed to feel like preparation, not an obstacle to rush through.

The Solitary Throne Connection

Part of The Burden of Seeing takes the Commander through a strange astral environment that also connects thematically to the Solitary Throne Fractal.

You gain special movement tools, including a Dash special action ability used after being launched through the environment.

Use the sequence to become comfortable with aerial movement.

You do not need fractal-level execution for the story version, but understanding the movement makes the section much smoother.

Chapter 5 – So Be It

So Be It is the major climax of Code of Creation.

Everything built through the previous chapters leads here.

Vloxx’s plan has moved beyond ordinary Inquest ambition.

The Commander and allies are forced to respond to threats connected to multiple possible disasters before reaching the final confrontation.

This chapter contains three especially important achievements.

Containment Protocol

One scenario involves plague scarabs.

For Containment Protocol, you must prevent the scarabs from multiplying into ten swarms.

The best approach is aggressive.

Kill the scarabs quickly instead of allowing them time to spread.

Your special movement or combat tools can help you reach new groups rapidly.

Do not waste time fighting unimportant targets while active scarab swarms are multiplying.

Prioritize containment first.

Magus Rush

Another scenario places you at the collapsing Magus Dam.

The achievement requires evacuating the area within the allowed time.

The current achievement window is three minutes.

Help the friendly NPCs, follow the evacuation route, and keep moving.

The common mistake is stopping to fight every enemy you see.

The objective is evacuation, not clearing the map.

Only fight when enemies directly interfere with getting NPCs to safety.

The Final Vloxx Fight

Eventually, the Commander confronts Director Vloxx.

The story encounter introduces a version of the mechanics later expanded in Nexus of Eternity group content.

Vloxx uses weapon changes, area pressure, movement, and control effects during the story confrontation.

The most important thing for a first clear is to watch your special action skill.

You gain an Ascension-related ability during the encounter.

Use it whenever appropriate instead of saving it indefinitely.

Ultimate Commander

For Ultimate Commander, use the ascension skill eight times during the final encounter.

If you activate it consistently whenever it becomes available, you should have enough opportunities before the fight ends.

Do not burn the boss so quickly that you forget the achievement.

Players using strong builds can sometimes push story encounters surprisingly fast.

If Ultimate Commander is your goal, prioritize eight activations over maximum burst damage.

Completing the achievement awards the Relic of the Curator.

So Be It Reward

Completing So Be It awards the Fledgling Constellation.

This item matters beyond the story because it is one of the components used in creating the legendary sword Wages of Stars.

That makes So Be It particularly important for players interested in legendary progression.

Do not accidentally destroy or overlook story-linked items without first checking what they are used for.

Chapter 6 – Everything That We Are

Everything That We Are is the epilogue and final chapter of Visions of Eternity.

The major threat has been resolved.

Instead of immediately throwing another giant boss at you, the story slows down.

This chapter is about:

  • allies;

  • consequences;

  • personal identity;

  • unfinished relationships;

  • and where the Commander goes next.

There are several easy achievements here that are extremely missable if you rush through dialogue.

Leave-Taking

At Pub Canach, speak with the important allies before leaving.

You need to talk to:

  • Ellen Kiel;

  • High Steward Fillics;

  • Rytlock;

  • Sayida;

  • Wavehawk Pete and Westergard.

Do not leave the instance immediately after the required conversation finishes.

Walk around and clear every optional dialogue marker first.

Proper Introductions

Wavehawk Pete has an additional conversation.

After speaking to him normally, talk to him again when the extra dialogue becomes available.

Choose the option that introduces your character by name.

This earns Proper Introductions.

It is a tiny interaction, but it is one of the easiest achievements in the whole act to miss because the second conversation is not especially dramatic.

All Is Forgiven (Again?)

During the Rata Sum section, speak with Zeba before finishing the relevant paperwork and departure sequence.

You need to reveal the earlier deception and formally apologize.

Complete the dialogue before moving through the final portal.

Again, this is a conversation achievement.

If you see an optional NPC before leaving an instance, talk to them.

Home Again

After completing Everything That We Are, return to your character’s racial home instance.

A familiar NPC connected to your character’s original biography will be available.

Who you meet depends on your race and, in some cases, your character-creation choices.

Examples include:

  • personal contacts from the human origin paths;

  • your selected advisor as an asura;

  • your charr sparring partner;

  • the relevant norn figure;

  • or your sylvari Luminary.

Speak with the marked NPC to complete Home Again.

The reward is the Relic of the Tyrian Hero.

Everything That We Are Reward

Completing the final chapter awards a Tenebral Ward Token: Helmet through the story achievement.

More importantly, this chapter officially closes the main Visions of Eternity storyline.

Take your time with the conversations.

The quieter ending works much better if you actually listen to the characters rather than sprinting between green stars.

Code of Creation Achievements

The Code of Creation Story Journal category contains 27 achievements in total.

The central meta achievement is:

Visions of Eternity: Code of Creation Mastery

You need 25 eligible achievements to complete it.

The reward is:

Relic of the Last Tyrant

That means you do not necessarily need every single achievement in the category.

However, many of the achievements are easy enough to collect during your first story playthrough that ignoring them creates unnecessary replay work later.

Best Achievements to Get During Your First Run

Try to complete these immediately because they occur inside specific story instances or dialogue opportunities:

  • Investigative Efficiency

  • Torchbearer

  • Inquest Investigator

  • Password Guesser

  • Undaunted

  • Speak Your Truth

  • Doyen Explorer

  • Impeccable Judgment

  • Containment Protocol

  • Magus Rush

  • Ultimate Commander

  • Leave-Taking

  • Proper Introductions

  • All Is Forgiven (Again?)

Exploration collections such as Malicious Intent, Into the Depths, and Chak Studies can involve more open-world searching, so missing one object is less painful than missing a one-time dialogue moment.

Best Way to Play Code of Creation

Code of Creation is not especially difficult in ordinary story mode, but there are several ways to make the experience smoother.

Use a Comfortable Open-World Build

You do not need raid DPS.

You do need enough survivability to avoid being repeatedly downed during sections such as the empowered chak encounter.

Self-healing, condition cleanse, mobility, and a stun break can be more valuable than squeezing out a perfect damage benchmark.

Keep Your Skimmer Ready

Aetherlocation is directly useful during Ripples in the Pond.

If your Skimmer is rarely on your mount bar, put it somewhere convenient before starting that chapter.

Check Achievement Eligibility

Guild Wars 2 often displays an eligibility effect when you are attempting a story achievement.

Watch your buff bar.

If the eligibility disappears after a mistake, you know immediately that the achievement will need another attempt.

That is better than discovering the failure after finishing the entire instance.

Do Optional Dialogue Before Leaving

Several achievements in Everything That We Are are tied to conversations.

The same principle applies throughout the act.

Never rush through a portal until you have checked the room for optional dialogue icons and interactable lore objects.

Do Not Ignore Special Action Skills

Code of Creation uses special abilities for:

  • traversal;

  • story mechanics;

  • and the final encounter.

Watch the special action slot.

If a story objective suddenly seems impossible, there is a good chance the game has given you a temporary ability that solves it.

Important Code of Creation Rewards

The story provides more than Achievement Points.

Several rewards have lasting value.

Fledgling Constellation

Obtained by completing So Be It.

It is used in the Mystic Forge recipe for Wages of Stars, the legendary sword introduced with Code of Creation.

Relic of the Curator

Obtained from Ultimate Commander.

Its effect improves the damage reduction provided by Protection, subject to its stacking restrictions.

Relic of the Tyrian Hero

Obtained through Home Again after finishing Everything That We Are.

Relic of the Last Tyrant

Obtained by completing the Code of Creation Mastery meta achievement.

You need 25 eligible Code of Creation achievements.

Tenebral Ward Helmet Token

Awarded for completing Everything That We Are.

This ties the final story chapter into the wider Code of Creation reward set.

Common Code of Creation Mistakes

Rushing Deeper Revelations

This can cost you Investigative Efficiency, seer tablet progress, or Torchbearer.

Slow down.

Leaving the Inquest Lab Too Early

You may miss one of the six investigation objects.

Search before advancing.

Guessing Kuda’s Password

For Password Guesser, one wrong choice ruins the achievement attempt.

Use the correct sequence.

Ignoring Aetherlocation

Ripples in the Pond uses Skimmer Aetherlocation for both progression and hidden discoveries.

Keep it active while searching.

Trying to DPS Through the Chak Gauntlet

Undaunted is about survival.

Avoid being downed first.

Damage second.

Guessing During Impeccable Judgment

Read the suspect reports.

The answer is based on the scenario, not random selection.

Forgetting the Ascension Skill

Use it at least eight times during the So Be It finale if you want Ultimate Commander.

Leaving Pub Canach Immediately

Speak to everyone first.

Then speak to Pete again.

Forgetting Home Again

The story may be complete, but the achievement requires visiting your racial home instance afterward.
