The FFXIV Mogpendium is the core progression system behind Moogle Treasure Trove: The First Hunt for Astronomy. Instead of relying only on repeatable duties, the Mogpendium gives players access to Standard Objectives, Weekly Objectives, Minimog Challenges, and Ultimog Challenges, each with different rules and rewards.

The Mogpendium is the event interface that organizes Moogle Treasure Trove objectives.
It is much more useful than simply showing a list of eligible duties. The Mogpendium tells you which activities qualify for Irregular Tomestones of Astronomy I, tracks special objectives, and lets you manually collect the larger rewards earned from Weekly, Minimog, and Ultimog challenges.
If this is your first Mogpendium-based Treasure Trove, speak with an Itinerant Moogle to obtain it. Afterward, it can be accessed through Duty > Collection in the main menu.
The First Hunt for Astronomy divides Mogpendium activities into four categories:
Standard Objectives
These are repeatable activities. They form the normal farming side of Moogle Treasure Trove.
Weekly Objectives
Your character receives one selected Standard Objective that can award a much larger bonus when completed.
Minimog Challenges
You receive two different challenge choices and need to complete only one of them for the reward.
Ultimog Challenge
This is the larger event-wide objective. For the First Hunt for Astronomy, it requires repeated completion of Aloalo Island and provides the biggest single Mogpendium bonus.
The important idea is simple:
Standard Objectives are your repeatable farm. Weekly, Minimog, and Ultimog objectives are your bonus progression.
Treating all four categories as if they worked the same way leads to missed rewards and unnecessary grinding.
Standard Objectives provide the foundation for Moogle Treasure Trove farming.
Unlike the three bonus categories, Standard Objectives can be completed repeatedly for Astronomy I.
The First Hunt includes several kinds of eligible content, including:
dungeons;
normal raids;
alliance raids;
trials;
PvP;
Gold Saucer GATEs;
Ocean Fishing.
Eligible combat duties display a Moogle icon in the Duty Finder, making it easier to tell whether a dungeon or raid belongs to the current event. Square Enix also confirms that GATEs and Ocean Fishing are part of the Standard Objective system.
The reward varies depending on the activity. For example, current duties range from smaller two-tomestone raid and trial rewards to larger payouts from selected alliance raids, while GATE and Ocean Fishing rewards change according to performance.
That detailed farming question deserves its own strategy, however. The important distinction for a Mogpendium guide is that Standard Objectives do not become exhausted after one completion.
They are what you return to when you have already collected your larger bonus rewards and still need more Astronomy I.
You do not need to press Claim Rewards after every qualifying Standard Objective.
The event automatically adds those irregular tomestones to your inventory after an eligible completion.
This is different from:
Weekly Objectives;
Minimog Challenges;
Ultimog Challenges.
Those three categories require you to return to the Mogpendium and manually claim the reward.
Remembering that difference is one of the most important parts of using the system correctly.
Weekly Objectives are designed to give you a large bonus for completing one activity drawn from the event's Standard Objective pool.
Your Weekly Objective is personal rather than one universal challenge shared by the entire player base.
Square Enix states that each player is assigned an objective from the Standard Objectives. Current First Hunt documentation further records that the selection comes from the eligible dungeon, raid, trial, or PvP objective pool, with some exceptions.
That means your friend may open the Mogpendium and see a different Weekly Objective from yours.
Do not assume that a community post, Discord message, or another player's assigned duty is automatically your objective.
Always check your own Mogpendium.
Completing your assigned First Hunt Weekly Objective provides a 20 Irregular Tomestones of Astronomy I bonus. The reward must then be claimed from the Mogpendium.
Twenty tomestones is significant when compared with ordinary repeatable content.
Many standard dungeons give four Astronomy I, while normal Eden raids and many trials give two. As a result, completing a Weekly Objective can replace several ordinary Standard Objective runs in terms of raw event currency.
For most players, this makes the Weekly Objective worth checking before settling into a long repeatable farm.
The Mogpendium can assign content that your character has not unlocked.
Current event documentation specifically warns that this can happen.
If you receive something unavailable to your character, first determine why it is locked.
Possible causes include:
unfinished Main Scenario progression;
an uncompleted sidequest chain;
a dungeon or raid series you never unlocked;
insufficient character progression for that content.
Whether unlocking it is worthwhile depends on how much additional progression is required.
Do not turn a 20-tomestone bonus into hours of unrelated progression unless that content is something you wanted to unlock anyway.
Minimog Challenges are where the Mogpendium becomes much more important during the First Hunt for Astronomy.
They do not simply award additional Astronomy I.
They also provide Uolon Horn Tokens.
A Minimog Challenge presents two possible objectives. Completing either objective satisfies that Minimog reward.
This gives players flexibility.
One option may involve combat content such as Bozja, while another may send players into a completely different activity such as:
fishing;
treasure maps;
Triple Triad;
Doman Mahjong;
Deep Dungeon content;
other side activities.
The precise objectives vary, but the rule remains the same: choose one of the two.
This is one of the biggest advantages of the system.
If one objective requires content you dislike or have not unlocked, inspect the alternative before doing anything else.
This deserves special emphasis:
Doing both available Minimog objectives does not give two sets of rewards.
Once one option fulfills the Minimog Challenge, completing the alternative does not provide another 10 Astronomy I or another Uolon Horn Token.
For players interested specifically in efficient Treasure Trove progression, completing both is normally unnecessary.
A better approach is:
read both descriptions carefully;
check which content you already have unlocked;
consider how long each should take;
pick the easier or more enjoyable option;
complete it;
claim the reward;
move on to another goal.
This prevents one of the most common forms of wasted event effort.
For the First Hunt for Astronomy, a successful Minimog claim awards:
10 Irregular Tomestones of Astronomy I + 1 Uolon Horn Token.
The token is what makes Minimog substantially more important than it was in many previous Treasure Trove events.
The Uolon Horn cannot be purchased with Astronomy I alone. It requires:
100 Irregular Tomestones of Astronomy I + 10 Uolon Horn Tokens.
Standard dungeon, GATE, raid, PvP, and Ocean Fishing grinding can solve the Astronomy I side of that requirement.
It cannot replace missing Uolon Horn Tokens.
That makes Minimog participation important for anyone interested in the mount.
One purpose of Minimog Challenges is to move players beyond whatever repeatable duty happens to be the popular tomestone farm.
The First Hunt uses objectives that touch multiple parts of FFXIV.
Some Minimog challenges send players into large-scale side content rather than standard Duty Finder encounters.
The First Hunt includes objectives associated with The Bozjan Southern Front, such as Skirmishes and Critical Engagements. Bozja requires its own unlock progression, so players who have never entered the Save the Queen content should always inspect the second Minimog option before assuming they need to unlock the field operation.
This is exactly why the two-choice structure matters.
Some Minimog objectives can ask you to catch a particular fish.
Buying the requested fish does not necessarily satisfy a challenge that requires you to catch it yourself.
For example, current First Hunt documentation notes this distinction for its fishing objective.
Read the objective literally.
If it says to catch something, obtaining the item through a Market Board purchase is not a substitute for the actual activity.
Treasure hunting can also appear as a Minimog activity.
The important part is completing exactly what the objective requests. A requirement to decipher a map and collect its treasure is different from merely owning a map or opening the map interface.
Again, the Mogpendium wording should be your source of truth in-game.
Minimog can reach into systems players may rarely touch during normal endgame progression.
The current First Hunt challenge pool includes activities such as Doman Mahjong and Triple Triad alongside combat-oriented choices.
This does not mean you need to become an expert in every side activity.
You only need to identify which of your two choices is practical.
Ultimog Challenges occupy the top end of the Mogpendium system.
Unlike Standard Objectives, which can be repeated indefinitely, or Minimog challenges, which offer recurring selections, the Ultimog Challenge is a one-time challenge for the event period.
Its reward is correspondingly much larger.
The First Hunt for Astronomy Ultimog objective is:
Complete Aloalo Island six times.
The reward is:
70 Irregular Tomestones of Astronomy I
5 Uolon Horn Tokens
It must be manually claimed through the Mogpendium after the objective is completed.
That is the single largest fixed Mogpendium bonus available in the event.
Completing Ultimog immediately provides half of the Uolon Horn's 10-token requirement.
That makes it far more valuable than simply looking at the 70 Astronomy I reward.
For a player pursuing the Uolon Horn, the challenge advances both required currencies simultaneously:
the Astronomy I requirement;
the Uolon Horn Token requirement.
This is why repeatedly farming Standard Objectives first can be inefficient if the mount is your main target.
The bonus challenges themselves already provide a considerable amount of the currency you need.
The First Hunt objective specifically requires Aloalo Island, the level 90 Variant Dungeon.
Current event documentation notes that it is unlocked through Stranger from Paradise after the relevant Endwalker-era progression. Because of those requirements, it is not available through the Free Trial.
Players should also avoid confusing the normal Variant Dungeon with the more difficult Another Aloalo Island Criterion content.
Your Mogpendium objective is asking for Aloalo Island.
Aloalo Island has branching routes, but the Ultimog wording requires six completions, not six unique conservation records.
For pure Mogpendium progress, that means you can use a route you already understand rather than treating the objective like a full Aloalo completionist run.
If you also want the Variant Dungeon's normal route-based rewards, exploring alternative paths can make sense. But that is a separate goal from satisfying the Ultimog.
The names sound similar, but each category serves a different purpose.
Think of Weekly Objectives as a boosted version of one Standard Objective.
The key points are:
one assigned objective;
assignment can differ between players;
drawn from qualifying Standard Objective content;
20 Astronomy I bonus;
reward must be manually claimed.

This is the simplest bonus category.
Think of Minimog as two alternatives leading to one reward.
The key points are:
two objective choices;
complete either one;
completing both does not double the reward;
10 Astronomy I;
1 Uolon Horn Token during this First Hunt;
manually claimed from the Mogpendium.
The biggest mistake is assuming the two choices represent two separate rewards.
They do not.
Ultimog is the larger one-time objective.
For the First Hunt:
complete Aloalo Island six times;
earn 70 Astronomy I;
earn 5 Uolon Horn Tokens;
manually claim the reward.
Its value is much higher, but its access requirements are also more demanding.
You do not need an elaborate routine to use the Mogpendium well.
You simply need to understand which objectives have limited bonus value and which ones can be endlessly farmed.
Do not begin with a huge repeatable tomestone grind before seeing what the Mogpendium can give you.
The First Hunt provides:
20 Astronomy I from a completed Weekly Objective;
10 Astronomy I from a successful Minimog reward;
70 Astronomy I from Ultimog;
repeatable Standard Objective rewards on top of those systems.
The bonuses can dramatically reduce the amount of repeat farming required for your desired Treasure Trove rewards.
If you immediately grind 100 Astronomy I and only afterward complete the bonus challenges, you may end up farming considerably more than necessary.
Astronomy I is repeatable. Uolon Horn Tokens are not freely farmable.
That distinction should guide your priorities.
You can keep running eligible duties, GATEs, Ocean Fishing, raids, or PvP for additional Astronomy I.
You cannot repeatedly run a normal dungeon until Uolon Horn Tokens begin dropping.
Those tokens are attached specifically to the First Hunt's Minimog and Ultimog rewards.
If the Uolon Horn interests you, protect your opportunities to acquire tokens.
When inspecting your two choices, ask:
Do I already have this activity unlocked?
An objective that looks short may become much longer if it requires unlocking an entire side-content chain first.
Do I understand the objective's exact condition?
“Catch,” “complete,” “win,” and “play” are not interchangeable requirements.
Can I complete the alternative more reliably?
A slightly longer activity you know well can be better than learning unfamiliar content solely for one challenge.
Do I gain something else useful from it?
A Minimog objective can be more valuable if it also progresses achievements, Bozja progression, Triple Triad, fishing, or another personal goal.
The goal is not to complete the more impressive challenge.
The goal is to satisfy one of the two conditions efficiently.
This small button is responsible for a surprising number of missed rewards.
Complete an eligible Standard Objective and its regular Astronomy I reward is automatically added to your inventory.
No additional Mogpendium interaction is necessary.
Weekly, Minimog, and Ultimog rewards are different.
After fulfilling one of those objectives:
Open the Mogpendium.
Select the completed challenge.
Confirm that it shows as complete.
Use Claim Rewards.
Verify that the reward has been collected.
Square Enix explicitly states that these bonus rewards require manual claiming.
Do not rely solely on seeing the challenge completion notification.
The reward itself still needs to be collected.
There is also a separate claim cutoff from the item-exchange period.
Square Enix states that First Hunt Mogpendium rewards cannot be claimed after Patch 8.05, while the Itinerant Moogle item exchange remains available until Patch 8.1.
These are two different systems.
That distinction matters:
claiming earned Mogpendium bonuses and spending already-earned tomestones are not the same thing.
The safest approach is simple: when a Weekly, Minimog, or Ultimog objective is complete, collect it instead of leaving the reward sitting in the interface.
Some activities look eligible but stop awarding event currency when entered in the wrong way.
Square Enix explicitly excludes Duty Support and adventurer squadrons from irregular tomestone rewards.
So if an eligible dungeon appears in the Mogpendium, completing that dungeon through an excluded NPC system does not convert it into a valid event farm.
Use a qualifying player-based completion instead.
Entering an eligible duty through an Unrestricted Party is not enough by itself.
Square Enix requires the Level Sync option to be applied for irregular tomestones to be awarded.
This prevents the obvious strategy of deleting old synchronized content at full current level for effortless Treasure Trove rewards.
Always check your Duty Finder settings before starting an organized farm.
Ocean Fishing appears among the Standard Objectives, but participation alone does not guarantee Astronomy I.
You need at least 2,000 points to qualify for the event reward. Higher score brackets can award larger quantities of Astronomy I.
This is important whenever a player assumes that entering the voyage is enough.
It is not.
The First Hunt gives the Mogpendium a second purpose beyond generating extra tomestones.
The event's Uolon Horn costs:
100 Irregular Tomestones of Astronomy I + 10 Uolon Horn Tokens.
Standard farming gives Astronomy I.
The Weekly Objective gives more Astronomy I.
Neither provides the special tokens required for the Uolon Horn.
Minimog gives 1 Uolon Horn Token per successful reward claim.
Ultimog gives 5 Uolon Horn Tokens.
Current First Hunt documentation therefore identifies completing Ultimog plus enough Minimog rewards as the intended First Hunt route toward the 10-token requirement.
Square Enix has also confirmed that Uolon Horn Tokens earned in the First Hunt remain usable during the Second Hunt for Astronomy, and that the Uolon Horn will remain obtainable there.
So partial token progress is still valuable.
Two choices do not mean two rewards.
Once one Minimog option has fulfilled the challenge, doing the other purely for Treasure Trove currency provides no second Minimog payout.
Standard rewards are automatic.
Weekly, Minimog, and Ultimog rewards are not.
Check the Mogpendium whenever you finish a bonus objective.
Weekly assignments can differ between characters.
