Ace Combat 8 Trophy Guide – How to Unlock All Achievements and Platinum

Think finishing the campaign makes you a true Ace Combat 8 pilot? The Platinum trophy has a few more challenges waiting for you.

Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve features 30 campaign missions, powerful enemy squadrons, hidden Aces, dozens of aircraft upgrades, and some demanding completion challenges.

You can finish the story, unlock advanced fighters, and defeat the final enemy without getting particularly close to earning every trophy.

That's because the hardest achievements require much more than ordinary campaign progression.

To earn Platinum, you'll need to master Ace difficulty, achieve S-Ranks on all 30 missions, collect every Assault Record, obtain all campaign aircraft and upgrades, and earn a cumulative 25 million MRP.

The good news is that nothing is permanently missable.

Free Mission mode allows you to replay individual missions, hunt missing enemies, improve your scores, and work toward many of the remaining achievements.

Here's what you need to know before beginning your Platinum hunt:

  • Total PlayStation trophies: 56, including one Platinum, two Gold, five Silver, and 48 Bronze trophies.

  • Steam and Xbox achievements: 55 achievements. Xbox players can earn 1,000 Gamerscore, while PlayStation players receive an additional Platinum trophy.

  • Estimated difficulty: Approximately 5/10 according to current trophy guides. The exact challenge depends on your flying experience.

  • Estimated completion time: Around 150 hours or more. The cumulative MRP requirement is a major reason for the lengthy completion estimate.

  • Online trophies: None. Every trophy can be earned through the campaign and its associated offline modes.

  • Missable trophies: None permanently, although certain requirements may force another campaign playthrough if you skip them.

  • Minimum campaign completions: Two, provided your first full campaign clear is on Elite difficulty.

  • Hardest trophy: Ace of Aces, which requires S-Rank on all 30 missions at Ace difficulty.

This guide covers the complete trophy list, explains every non-story achievement, and helps you combine objectives efficiently without wasting unnecessary playthroughs.

Spoiler warning: The full trophy list includes campaign mission names and late-game objectives.

How to Unlock the Wings of Theve Platinum Trophy

The Platinum trophy is called Wings of Theve.

To unlock it, you must earn every other trophy in the base game's PlayStation trophy list.

There are no online multiplayer trophies required.

You also don't need to purchase the Premium Ace Pass or optional additional aircraft content to complete the base-game Platinum.

What Are the Main Platinum Requirements?

Most of the trophy list can be divided into several categories.

Campaign Completion

Finish the Prologue and all 30 numbered campaign missions.

Each mission has its own completion trophy.

Difficulty Challenges

Complete the campaign on Ace difficulty and achieve S-Rank on all 30 missions at that setting.

Ace difficulty must first be unlocked by completing the campaign on Elite.

Aircraft Tree Collection

Obtain every required base-game aircraft, special weapon, and upgrade part through campaign progression.

Combat Achievements

Destroy large numbers of enemies and complete specific combat challenges involving special weapons, squadron commands, and advanced aircraft maneuvers.

Assault Records and Medals

Collect all 83 Campaign Assault Records and obtain at least 10 campaign medals.

MRP Milestones

Earn a cumulative total of 25,000,000 Military Result Points.

This is one of the longest requirements because it measures your lifetime campaign earnings.

What Is the Best Way to Approach Platinum?

Focus on completing objectives that naturally overlap.

For example, playing on Ace difficulty contributes toward campaign completion, S-Rank progress, aircraft destruction totals, and your cumulative MRP earnings.

Similarly, hunting Assault Records can contribute to enemy destruction achievements while earning additional currency.

You don't need to finish every trophy separately.

The smartest approach is to work on several compatible goals whenever possible, then use Free Mission to finish anything that remains incomplete.

All 31 Story Trophies in Ace Combat 8

The campaign contains 30 numbered missions and a Prologue.

Each provides one Bronze trophy upon successful completion.

These trophies are automatic and can be earned on any difficulty.

You don't need an S-Rank to unlock ordinary story trophies.

Prologue and Missions 01–10

  • Inherited Dog Tags: Complete the Prologue, Wings of Theve.

  • Expulsion: Complete Mission 01, Jokers Wild.

  • World Left Behind: Complete Mission 02, Nomad.

  • Birth of an Ace: Complete Mission 03, Purple Magic Takes Flight.

  • Relentless: Complete Mission 04, The Fall of the Numbered Fleets.

  • From the Brink: Complete Mission 05, Retaking of Theve.

  • Fireworks: Complete Mission 06, Attack on the Drinwich Airfield.

  • Cutting Supply Lines: Complete Mission 07, A Lifeline in the Desert.

  • Retaking the Capital: Complete Mission 08, Retaking of Theve II.

  • Securing the North: Complete Mission 09, The Land Battleship Blockade.

  • Rainband Breakthrough: Complete Mission 10, Over the Rainband.

These achievements introduce many of the game's core combat systems.

You'll encounter dogfighting, enemy interception, fleet defense, surface attacks, and missions requiring careful protection of allied units.

Completion Tip: Concentrate on finishing the campaign successfully rather than forcing difficult optional objectives into every sortie.

You can return for more demanding challenges later.

Missions 11–20

  • Downing Giants: Complete Mission 11, Maximum Payload.

  • Suspicion: Complete Mission 12, An Island in Darkness.

  • Split Second: Complete Mission 13, The People of the Lost Country.

  • Vanishing Act: Complete Mission 14, Two on the Run.

  • Downing a Dragon: Complete Mission 15, Wings of Wax.

  • Watching Eye: Complete Mission 16, Singer.

  • Armor Penetration: Complete Mission 17, Land Battleship No. 3.

  • Sudden Dive: Complete Mission 18, Moonlight and Shadows.

  • Light: Complete Mission 19, Clearing the Lighthouse.

  • The Courier: Complete Mission 20, Escort Orbiter.

These missions introduce more complicated objectives.

Some require destroying particular enemy components, protecting aircraft, or responding to unusual threats.

Mission 14 is particularly important because you're required to fly an unarmed A-6E Intruder.

It is not a normal combat mission.

Completion Tip: Pay attention to radio instructions and changing objectives. Destroying enemies is only useful when it contributes to successful mission completion.

Missions 21–30

  • On Cloud Nine: Complete Mission 21, The Star-Bound Bird.

  • Good News from Space: Complete Mission 22, Pursuing the HSCA.

  • The End in the East: Complete Mission 23, The Destruction of Expo City.

  • Securing a Beachhead: Complete Mission 24, The Battle of Rocky Island, Day 1.

  • Freeing Usea: Complete Mission 25, The Battle of Rocky Island, Day 2.

  • Nightmare: Complete Mission 26, Crossing Fleets.

  • Troop Rallier: Complete Mission 27, Fatsia, The Ocean Fortress.

  • Wings Upon Wings: Complete Mission 28, A Thousand Points of Light.

  • The Anemone: Complete Mission 29, Selene.

  • The Real Wings: Complete Mission 30, Song of Wings.

These final missions contain some of the campaign's largest battles.

You'll encounter dangerous enemy squadrons, massive surface targets, demanding defensive objectives, and advanced enemy weapons.

The final encounters reward careful target selection and effective preparation.

Completion Tip: Don't worry if you finish certain missions with lower ranks. You can improve their results individually after unlocking Free Mission.

Campaign Completion and Difficulty Trophies

Several important achievements involve completing the campaign under specific conditions.

These require more preparation than the automatic story trophies.

Promised Land – Silver

Requirement: Complete Campaign Mode.

Promised Land unlocks after finishing the main story.

There is no special difficulty requirement.

You can earn it on Rookie, Pilot, Veteran, Elite, or Ace difficulty.

Completing the campaign also unlocks Free Mission mode, which becomes extremely important for the remaining challenges.

Tip: If you're comfortable with demanding aerial combat, beginning on Elite difficulty can help you avoid an additional campaign completion later.

The Ace – Silver

Requirement: Complete Campaign Mode on Ace difficulty.

Ace is the highest difficulty setting in the game.

It is not available immediately.

To unlock it, you must first complete the campaign on Elite difficulty.

Afterward, complete the campaign on Ace to earn The Ace.

Tip: A full Ace campaign run is the safest approach for this trophy. Use Free Mission separately when cleaning up individual S-Ranks.

Ace of Aces – Gold

Requirement: Clear all 30 numbered missions with an S-Rank on Ace difficulty.

This is widely considered the hardest achievement in the base game.

It requires more than simply surviving each operation.

You need to earn an S-Rank on every numbered mission at the highest difficulty.

Fortunately, Free Mission allows you to replay individual attempts.

You do not need to earn all 30 S-Ranks consecutively.

If you receive an A-Rank on Mission 18, for example, you can return to that mission later rather than restarting the entire campaign.

The best approach is to choose aircraft and special weapons that match each mission's objective.

Some missions reward efficient enemy destruction.

Others require fast interception, careful escort defense, or completing special objectives.

We recommend treating this as a separate skill challenge rather than assuming your first Ace playthrough must be perfect.

How to Get S-Rank on All 30 Ace Missions

Ace of Aces deserves special attention because it is one of the main obstacles to Platinum.

S-Rank scoring depends on factors such as mission completion time, enemy destruction score, and mission-specific performance.

There is no single universal score target that applies to all 30 missions.

Prioritize Valuable Enemies

Different enemies provide different score values.

Named Aces and dangerous aircraft can contribute useful additional points.

However, pursuing an optional target may be counterproductive if it requires a long detour.

Try to defeat valuable enemies that are already along your intended route.

Finish Missions Efficiently

A large destruction score doesn't guarantee an S-Rank.

If you spend too much time flying between distant targets, your final result can suffer.

Learn the mission's objectives and prepare for important enemy waves.

Your goal is to earn enough points while avoiding unnecessary delays.

Choose Appropriate Special Weapons

Air-to-air missions favor fighters with reliable missiles.

Surface-heavy missions often benefit from aircraft carrying powerful bombs, guided ground missiles, or area-attack weapons.

For mixed missions, multirole aircraft can provide useful flexibility.

Don't force one aircraft into every sortie if another would handle the objectives more efficiently.

Avoid Damage When Possible

Current post-launch S-Rank guides report a 5,000-point no-damage bonus.

This can help during close S-Rank attempts.

However, taking damage doesn't automatically prevent you from receiving an S-Rank.

Focus on surviving and completing the mission efficiently rather than restarting every time your aircraft is hit.

Use Free Mission for Difficult Attempts

Free Mission generally allows you to choose from your unlocked aircraft regardless of certain normal campaign restrictions.

That makes it particularly useful for optimizing difficult operations.

The notable exception is Mission 14, where you're required to use the unarmed A-6E.

Important: Mission-specific scoring thresholds and routes vary. If you're consistently receiving an A-Rank, change your target selection, completion speed, or aircraft loadout rather than assuming one universal strategy will work.

A Record of Rivalry – Gold

Requirement: Obtain all 83 Campaign Assault Records.

A Record of Rivalry is one of the largest collection challenges in Ace Combat 8.

The 83 records consist of:

  • 31 hidden enemy Aces: These named pilots require completing special mission conditions before they appear. You must play on Veteran difficulty or higher for the conditional encounters.

  • 52 special-unit pilots: These enemies appear through campaign encounters, including Lux Lunae squadron formations. You must shoot down each required named aircraft to register its record.

How to Find Hidden Enemy Aces

Each hidden Ace has a different requirement.

Some appear after eliminating specific enemies.

Others require completing unusual objectives, such as protecting every landing craft or navigating through a dangerous tunnel.

To register an Ace:

  • Play on Veteran, Elite, or Ace difficulty.

  • Complete the relevant mission-specific spawn condition.

  • Find and destroy the named aircraft.

  • Successfully complete the mission afterward.

Defeating an Ace and then quitting or failing the mission can prevent the record from saving.

Where to Track Assault Records

Open:

Data Viewer → Campaign Data → Campaign Assault Records

This screen displays the enemies you've collected.

Use it to identify missing pilots before repeating missions.

Important Mission 18 Prerequisite

One special-unit encounter has an additional condition.

Destroying Shadow 24 during Mission 18 is necessary for the later Lux Lunae 22nd Unit encounter in Mission 28.

If those Mission 28 records are missing, check this earlier requirement before attempting the mission again.

Tip: Veteran difficulty is a practical setting for collecting hidden Aces because it satisfies the spawn requirement without forcing the additional challenge of Ace difficulty.

Meritorious Service – Silver

Requirement: Obtain 10 medals.

Ace Combat 8 contains 29 campaign medals.

You only need ten of them for this trophy.

This makes Meritorious Service much less demanding than collecting every medal in the game.

Useful Medals to Target

Several medals can be earned naturally while working toward other Platinum requirements.

Bronze Ace

Destroy 1,000 enemy units.

This is a cumulative combat objective that should progress through normal campaign gameplay.

Silver Ace

Destroy 2,000 enemy units.

Your progress continues accumulating across campaign sorties.

Gold Ace

Destroy 3,000 enemy units.

This fits naturally with the large amount of combat needed for other completion achievements.

Iron Wings

Earn an S-Rank on all missions at Pilot difficulty or higher.

Bronze Wings

Earn an S-Rank on all missions at Veteran difficulty or higher.

Silver Wings

Earn an S-Rank on all missions at Elite difficulty or higher.

Gold Wings

Earn an S-Rank on all missions at Ace difficulty.

The higher-difficulty requirements can satisfy the lower-difficulty medal conditions because the descriptions allow completion at the stated difficulty or higher.

That makes your Ace of Aces progress especially valuable.

Other Useful Medal Opportunities

Additional medals include:

  • Ship of Liberty: Sink 100 enemy ships. Naval-heavy missions provide opportunities to contribute toward this cumulative total.

  • Raze the Roof: Destroy 1,500 enemy surface targets, excluding ships. Ground-heavy operations are useful for this requirement.

  • Tunnel Specter: Navigate the relevant narrow passage during Mission 04. This objective overlaps with a hidden Ace spawn condition.

  • Rapid Dragon Slayer: Destroy the required Rapid Dragon before cruise missiles are launched during Mission 12.

  • Land Piscivore: Destroy all required land ships in Mission 23.

  • Perfect Guardian: Intercept all specified anti-ship missiles during Mission 30.

You can also pursue more demanding medals such as completing the campaign without damage or using restricted aircraft categories.

However, you don't need every medal for Platinum.

Prioritize those that naturally overlap with your other achievements.

Where to Check Your Medals

Open:

Data Viewer → Campaign Data → Campaign Medals

This menu displays your collected medals.

Check it before attempting difficult optional challenges.

You may already have enough progress to earn Meritorious Service without completing another specialized objective.

MRP Aplenty and Need A Bigger Bank

Two achievements require earning large amounts of Military Result Points.

These are among the most time-consuming requirements in Ace Combat 8.

Need A Bigger Bank – Bronze

Requirement: Earn a cumulative total of 16,000,000 MRP.

This achievement tracks your total MRP earned through campaign progression.

You do not need to maintain a balance of 16 million.

Spending MRP on aircraft, weapons, or upgrade parts doesn't erase previously earned progress.

MRP Aplenty – Silver

Requirement: Earn a cumulative total of 25,000,000 MRP.

This is the higher currency milestone.

It is also one of the main reasons the Platinum completion estimate exceeds 150 hours.

The important distinction is that MRP Aplenty tracks cumulative earnings, not your current currency balance.

That means you can continue purchasing aircraft and equipment while working toward the achievement.

Best Missions for Earning MRP

Several campaign missions are useful for repeatable rewards.

Mission 16 – Singer

A strong choice for fast mission completion once you've learned the ship-identification and drone objectives.

Short successful runs can make it attractive for repeated farming.

Mission 27 – Fatsia, The Ocean Fortress

Useful for pilots who prefer destroying concentrated surface targets.

Suitable area weapons can help eliminate groups efficiently.

Mission 28 – A Thousand Points of Light

A particularly strong option because of the large number of enemy aircraft.

The Cima Island airstrip also provides an opportunity to rearm during the mission.

Current trophy guides recommend Mission 28 for substantial MRP rewards.

Does Difficulty Affect MRP Earnings?

Yes.

Higher difficulties provide stronger reward multipliers.

Post-launch trophy guides report a 0.8x multiplier on Casual and 1.5x on Ace.

However, higher difficulty isn't automatically the most efficient option if you frequently fail missions.

Choose a difficulty you can complete reliably.

Consistent successful clears are more valuable than chasing a higher potential reward and repeatedly failing.

Patron of the Parts – Silver

Requirement: Obtain every campaign aircraft, special weapon, and upgrade part.

This is the main Aircraft Tree collection achievement.

It requires more than purchasing your favorite fighters.

You must acquire the complete required collection of aircraft, special weapons, and upgrade parts.

What Do You Need to Collect?

The Aircraft Tree contains interconnected purchases.

Some items are necessary to unlock later branches.

To finish Patron of the Parts, you'll need to obtain all required:

  • Aircraft: The complete base-game aircraft collection available through campaign progression, including advanced post-campaign aircraft.

  • Special weapons: Purchase the available Aircraft Tree special-weapon entries instead of assuming unlocking the aircraft automatically completes its equipment collection.

  • Upgrade parts: Obtain all required parts across the available branches.

Some purchases can become expensive because several nodes may need to be acquired before accessing the next item.

Does Buying Additional Wingman Aircraft Count?

The game allows you to purchase additional copies of aircraft for your wingmen.

This is relevant to the separate Birds of a Feather trophy.

The main Patron of the Parts requirement focuses on obtaining every required aircraft type, special weapon, and upgrade part.

Check your Aircraft Tree completion status to identify remaining purchases.

Related Aircraft Tree Achievements

You'll naturally unlock several other trophies while collecting everything.

Bolstered Forces – Bronze

Obtain at least five aircraft types in Campaign Mode.

Fully Kitted Out – Bronze

Obtain at least 20 aircraft types in Campaign Mode.

Budding Buyer – Bronze

Obtain a combined total of 15 special weapons and upgrade parts.

Regular Customer – Bronze

Obtain a combined total of 100 special weapons and upgrade parts.

These are collection milestones along the way to Patron of the Parts.

Tip: Continue purchasing required Aircraft Tree items while accumulating MRP. Waiting until you've earned all 25 million isn't necessary.

Aircraft Annihilator – Bronze

Requirement: Destroy 3,000 aircraft in Campaign Mode.

Aircraft Annihilator is a cumulative combat achievement.

You don't need to destroy 3,000 aircraft in one mission.

Your progress accumulates across qualifying campaign sorties.

How to Earn Aircraft Kills Efficiently

Choose missions containing large enemy aircraft formations.

Mission 28: A Thousand Points of Light is particularly useful because it features numerous enemy aircraft.

For efficient destruction:

  • Use multi-target air-to-air missiles. Weapons such as 4AAM and 6AAM can help engage formations more efficiently than repeatedly attacking every aircraft individually.

  • Prioritize aircraft that are easier to destroy. Large bombers or predictable targets may provide useful opportunities, depending on the mission.

  • Avoid wasting time on isolated targets. Focus on enemy formations that can be engaged efficiently without long detours.

  • Combine this achievement with MRP farming. Destroying aircraft contributes to mission rewards, helping you progress toward the cumulative currency milestones.

This achievement can also overlap with Air-to-Air Ace.

Air-to-Air Ace and Anti-Ground Ace – Bronze

These two achievements reward using special weapons against the appropriate target types.

Both are relatively straightforward once you understand which weapons count.

Air-to-Air Ace

Requirement: Destroy 100 enemies using air-to-air special weapons in Campaign Mode.

Eligible weapon types include examples such as:

  • QAAM

  • HCAA

  • HPAA

  • 4AAM

  • 6AAM

  • LAAM

  • SAAM

  • HVAA

The game identifies relevant air-to-air special weapons through their equipment classification.

Standard missile kills should not be assumed to count toward this special-weapon requirement.

Tip: Use a fighter with multi-target aerial weapons during missions containing large enemy formations.

Anti-Ground Ace

Requirement: Destroy 100 enemies using anti-ground special weapons in Campaign Mode.

Useful weapon types include examples such as:

  • 4AGM

  • 6AGM

  • 8AGM

  • LAGM

  • LACM

  • LASM

  • UGB

  • SFFS

  • SOD

Ground-heavy missions are ideal for this achievement.

Choose equipment that can destroy multiple targets without requiring repeated attack runs.

Tip: Missions featuring concentrated installations and surface defenses are particularly useful.

You can make progress toward both special-weapon trophies while completing normal campaign objectives.

Wingman Command Trophies

Ace Combat 8 allows you to issue commands to Joker Flight.

Several achievements reward using these systems correctly.

Yes, Sir! – Bronze

Requirement: Have a wingman destroy an enemy after using Forward Attack, Dispersed Attack, and Cover commands.

This achievement requires interacting with the squadron command system.

A practical approach is to find an ordinary combat encounter containing several enemies.

Use the available commands to direct your squadron.

On the default PlayStation controls, the D-pad is used for these instructions.

Important commands:

  • Cover: Direct your wingmen to provide defensive support.

  • Dispersed Attack: Allow squadron members to spread out and engage different threats.

  • Forward Attack: Focus squadron pressure against a selected target.

Use the required commands and allow a wingman to destroy an enemy.

The safest approach is to attempt this during a normal mission rather than during a dangerous boss encounter.

Some early players reported difficulty triggering this trophy despite issuing the commands.

If it doesn't register, try again during a fresh engagement and confirm that the final destruction is credited to a wingman.

All Weapons Free – Bronze

Requirement: Authorize special-weapon use and have a wingman destroy an enemy with a special weapon.

This is related to Yes, Sir!, but its focus is different.

You must authorize your squadron's use of special weaponry.

Then a wingman needs to destroy an enemy using that equipment.

Tip: Attempt both wingman command trophies during the same mission when possible.

Choose a suitable target, authorize special weapons, issue the relevant commands, and allow your teammates an opportunity to attack.

Birds of a Feather – Bronze

Requirement: Purchase the same aircraft for your wingmen through the Aircraft Tree.

After purchasing an aircraft for yourself, the Aircraft Tree allows additional copies to be purchased for Joker Flight.

Post-launch trophy guidance describes buying additional copies for your three wingmen.

Once the required matching wingman aircraft purchases are complete, the trophy unlocks.

Tip: Choose an aircraft you already own and intend to use for squadron operations rather than purchasing an expensive model solely for this achievement.

Like the Wind – Bronze

Requirement: Successfully perform a post-stall maneuver in Campaign Mode.

Like the Wind is a skill-based trophy.

A post-stall maneuver is different from an ordinary high-G turn.

It requires a suitable aircraft and carefully controlled low-speed maneuvering.

Which Aircraft Can Perform Post-Stall Maneuvers?

Post-launch trophy guides identify several compatible aircraft, including:

  • F-22A Raptor

  • F-35C Lightning II

  • MiG-29A Fulcrum

  • Su-33 Flanker-D

  • Su-47 Berkut

  • FA-36 Game

  • X-40 Nightmare

Not every aircraft supports these maneuvers.

Choose a compatible model before attempting the trophy.

How to Perform a Post-Stall Maneuver

The Kulbit is one of the suggested techniques.

A practical approach using the default PlayStation controls is:

  • Climb to a safe altitude with substantial room around your aircraft.

  • Reduce speed below approximately 500 km/h.

  • Release the throttle inputs briefly.

  • Hold L2 and R2 while pulling back firmly on the left stick.

  • As the aircraft begins pitching upward, release the triggers.

  • Accelerate and continue the maneuver until the aircraft returns toward level flight.

This is a community-verified technique, and execution depends on the aircraft and its speed.

If you're simply performing an ordinary high-G turn, adjust your speed and input timing.

Important: The trophy requires a successful maneuver in Campaign Mode, not merely practicing in Free Flight.

By the Book – Bronze

Requirement: Complete Campaign Mode while successfully completing all required takeoffs and aerial refueling sequences.

By the Book is one of the easiest trophies to overlook.

Throughout the campaign, the game provides opportunities to skip certain aircraft sequences.

Skipping the relevant takeoff or refueling sequence can prevent you from receiving the trophy on that campaign run.

How to Avoid Missing By the Book

The safest approach is simple.

Don't skip any playable takeoff, landing, or aerial refueling sequence during your chosen campaign completion.

Complete each sequence manually.

Wait until the aircraft has finished the required maneuver before continuing.

Current trophy guides report that the achievement typically unlocks around the final mission's takeoff when the necessary conditions have been satisfied.

What if You Already Skipped a Sequence?

The trophy isn't permanently missable.

However, individual Free Mission replays may not replace the requirement for a complete campaign run.

If the achievement fails to unlock because you skipped a required sequence, the safest solution is completing another full campaign on any difficulty without skipping those sequences.

Tip: Pay attention to this trophy from the beginning. It's much easier to complete it naturally than to repeat the entire campaign solely because of one skipped takeoff.

Easy Trophies You Can Unlock Through Menus and Training

Several achievements require very little combat.

They're excellent opportunities to finish straightforward requirements while preparing for larger Platinum challenges.

Welcome to Boot Camp – Bronze

Requirement: Clear one mission in Training Mode.

Open the Training option from the mission menu.

Complete any available training exercise.

You don't need an advanced fighter or difficult combat strategy.

This is one of the easiest trophies in the game.

Aircraft Inspection – Bronze

Requirement: Preview an aircraft using the Aircraft Viewer in Campaign Mode.

Navigate to:

Data Viewer → Aircraft Viewer

Select an aircraft and activate its preview function.

Merely opening the menu may not satisfy the trigger.

Make sure you actually preview the aircraft using the displayed control.

Birdwatching – Bronze

Requirement: Watch a replay in the Replay Viewer.

Complete a campaign mission to create an eligible replay.

Then open:

Data Viewer → Replay Viewer

Select and watch the recorded sortie.

This is useful for studying your own flying, but it also provides a straightforward trophy.

Plane Coordinator – Bronze

Requirement: Customize an aircraft skin or emblem in Campaign Mode.

Aircraft customization becomes available through the appropriate campaign equipment menus.

Current trophy guidance identifies Aircraft Sets as the place to select skins after completing the campaign.

Choose an aircraft, open the available customization options, and change its skin or emblem.

Tip: Don't overlook these easy trophies while concentrating on difficult combat challenges. They require relatively little additional effort.

Common Platinum Trophy Mistakes to Avoid

Even experienced players can make completion significantly more difficult by overlooking a few important requirements.

Starting on a Lower Difficulty Without Planning

You can begin the campaign on any available difficulty.

However, Ace difficulty only unlocks after completing Elite.

Starting on Rookie or Pilot is perfectly valid, but it adds another full campaign completion if your ultimate objective is Platinum.

Skipping Takeoffs and Refueling

This is one of the most avoidable mistakes.

By the Book requires the relevant sequences to be completed successfully.

Skipping them may force another full campaign run.

Ignoring Assault Records

The collection contains 83 records, not just 31 hidden Aces.

Don't assume defeating every conditional Ace completes A Record of Rivalry.

You must also collect the special-unit pilots.

Trying to Complete Every Medal

Meritorious Service requires only ten medals.

You don't need all 29.

Attempting difficult optional medals without a reason can add substantial work to your Platinum hunt.

Spending MRP Without Checking Aircraft Tree Requirements

Patron of the Parts requires the complete Aircraft Tree collection.

Before spending large amounts of MRP, inspect the branches and consider which purchases contribute toward your remaining requirements.

Confusing MRP Balance With Total Earnings

MRP Aplenty requires earning 25 million MRP cumulatively.

You don't need to save that amount in your current wallet.

Spend your earnings on necessary purchases while continuing toward the milestone.

Expecting Multiplayer Progress to Count

ACE COMBAT ONLINE uses separate currencies and progression.

Multiplayer ranks, Ace Pass rewards, and online aircraft upgrades do not replace the base game's campaign trophy requirements.

Repeating Entire Campaigns for Individual S-Ranks

Once Free Mission is available, you can replay individual missions.

Don't restart the entire campaign simply because one mission finished with an A-Rank.

Focus on improving the specific mission that remains incomplete.

Ace Combat 8 Trophy Guide FAQ

This unlocks Ace difficulty for subsequent campaign and Free Mission play.

What Is the Hardest Trophy in Ace Combat 8?

Ace of Aces is generally considered the hardest.

It requires earning an S-Rank on all 30 numbered missions at Ace difficulty.

Can You Earn Ace of Aces Through Free Mission?

Yes.

You can replay individual missions at Ace difficulty and improve their ranks.

You don't need 30 consecutive S-Ranks during one uninterrupted campaign.

How Many Assault Records Are Required?

You need all 83 Campaign Assault Records.

These include 31 conditional enemy Aces and 52 special-unit pilots.

How Many Medals Do You Need?

Meritorious Service requires ten medals.

Can You Unlock Platinum on PC or Xbox?

PC and Xbox players can earn the equivalent 55 achievements.

However, Wings of Theve is specifically the PlayStation Platinum trophy.

Conclusion – How to Earn Every Trophy in Ace Combat 8

Earning every trophy in Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve is a substantial challenge, but understanding the requirements makes the process much more manageable.

The game contains 56 PlayStation trophies, including the Wings of Theve Platinum, with most basic story achievements unlocking through normal campaign completion.

The real challenges come afterward.

You'll need to complete the campaign on Ace difficulty, earn S-Rank on all 30 missions, obtain 83 Assault Records, collect ten medals, purchase every required aircraft and upgrade, and earn a cumulative 25 million MRP.

The most important strategy is combining compatible trophy objectives rather than treating every achievement as a separate grind.

Aircraft destruction contributes toward combat milestones and MRP earnings.

S-Rank attempts can help earn several medals.

Assault Record hunting provides opportunities to collect additional points and improve your combat experience.

And Free Mission makes it possible to return to difficult objectives without repeating the entire story.

Don't overlook smaller achievements such as By the Book, Like the Wind, or the Aircraft Viewer trophies.
