💥 Why Augments Matter More Than Level

Think about it like this:

  • Going from level 75 → 80 is nice, but it’s just a stat bump.
  • Going from “no augments” → “full modern augments” is like replacing your car engine.

Modern augments can give:

  • 4–6% potency each (Ultia Domina, Halphinale, EX augments, etc.)
  • Extra PP for more spam
  • Extra HP / damage resistance so you can stay aggressive without dying

When you multiply that across 8 slots on your weapon and 8 slots on each unit, you end up with:

  • Much higher average damage
  • More consistency thanks to Potency Floor increase
  • Enough BP to unlock higher-rank content

That’s why two players at the same level can have completely different performance. The one with proper augments just does way more damage and doesn’t fall over every hit.

📚 Augment Basics – Potency, Potency Floor & Categories

Before we talk “best augments,” you need to understand a few key pieces.

🧮 Potency vs Potency Floor

  • Potency = your overall damage multiplier (the big stat you care about).
  • Potency Floor Increase = raises your minimum damage, so your hits roll lower damage less often.

Player testing and community math generally treats 1% potency as stronger than 1% potency floor (roughly 1% potency ≈ ~1.75% floor in value), so flat potency is your priority, and floor is a strong backup when it comes bundled with other good stats.

🎯 Categories (you can’t stack everything)

Augments are grouped into categories internally. You usually can’t equip two augments from the same category (for example, multiple Dominas or multiple versions of the same advanced stat line).

That’s why good builds look like a mix of:

  • 1x Domina-type
  • 1x Halphinale-type
  • 1x Dread Keeper / Gigas Maste-type
  • 1x Soul (like Gladia Soul)
  • 1–3x Triyal / Mastery / other strong capsules
  • 2–3x EX augments (on weapon)

🗡️ Weapons vs Armor & 8-Slot Reality

  • Weapons and units can go up to 8 augment slots once fully enhanced.
  • EX Augments can only be put on weapons, not units.

So usually:

  • On weapon, you run: Domina + Halphinale + strong “big” augments + EX augments.
  • On armor, you run: Domina / Halphinale / Gigas Maste / Dread Keeper / Triyal / Mastery etc., no EX.

🏆 S-Tier Damage Augments You Should Aim For

Let’s talk about the current heavy hitters — the augments that feel “mandatory” in good endgame builds.

⭐ Ultia Domina – Your All-Purpose God Augment

Ultia Domina is basically the new king general-purpose augment:

  • HP +30
  • PP +6
  • Potency +4.25%
  • Potency Floor Increase +3.0%

It’s crafted using High Domina capsules + Joindia and materials from late-game content like Realm of Awakened Phantasies and related Limited-Time Quests.

Why it’s insane:

  • Gives pure, unconditional damage
  • Adds both PP and HP
  • Fits in its own category, so it stacks beautifully with Halphinale, Gigas Maste, EX augments, etc.

If you’re serious about NGS endgame, Ultia Domina is one of the first high-end augments you should plan to get.

⭐ Halphinale Family – Big Potency in One Slot

The Halphinale line (Halphinale, Majis Halphinale, Lux Halphinale, Lois Halphinale, etc.) is another S-tier group of augments:

Examples from Arks-Visiphone and NGS wikis:

  • Halphinale: around HP +15, PP +5, Potency +4.0%
  • Majis Halphinale: HP +10, PP +8, Potency +5.0%, extra bonuses
  • Lux Halphinale S: HP +20, PP +6, Potency +5.0% in some variants

They’re usually obtained through:

  • High-end bosses like Dark Falz Aegis (drops Aegis Soul IV used to craft Halphinale)
  • Special exchanges at the Augment Capsule Exchange Shop or limited-time quests

Why they’re amazing:

  • High potency + nice PP/HP
  • Works on both weapons and units (depending on capsule version)
  • Fits perfectly into generic DPS builds

If Ultia Domina is your “universal god aug,” Halphinale is your second big anchor.

Best Augments in PSO2 NGS — How to Boost Your Damage Instantly 💥The Dread Keeper line used to be more niche, but the higher ranks (and Grand variants) are very solid now, especially on armor.

From Arks-Visiphone:

  • Dread Keeper V:
  • HP +60
  • PP +12
  • Potency Floor Increase +8.0%
  • Damage Resistance +3.5%

From player comparisons:

  • Grand Dread Keeper II trades some HP/PP for:
  • Potency +3.25%
  • Potency Floor Increase +6.0%
  • Damage Resistance +1.0%

These are obtained from:

  • Farming veteran “Dread” enemies, high-rank combat sectors
  • Capsule exchange / special LTQs that drop Grand / Majis versions

Dread Keeper augments are great for armor when you want:

  • Good bulk (HP + damage resist)
  • Strong floor power and/or some potency

If you want to feel a lot tankier while still doing damage, slotting a Dread Keeper-type augment is an easy win.

⭐ Gigas Maste / Majis Gigas Maste – Offensive “Stat Monster”

The Gigas Maste line (especially Majis / LC variants) is another meta staple. Patch notes mention capsules like C/Majis Gigas Maste as chase rewards in events and updates.

These augments usually give:

  • A big chunk of attack-type potency
  • Some BP and additional stats (like HP/PP or defensive tradeoffs)

Players often pair Gigas Maste with:

  • Halphinale
  • Domina
  • Triyal augments
  • EX augments on weapons

Think of Gigas Maste as another main damage pillar that slides into your build and plays very nicely with everything else.

⭐ EX Augments – Weapon-Only, Huge Impact

EX Augments are the spicy late-game part of the system:

  • Only go on weapons
  • Each gives around +4–4.5% potency
  • Plus +2% Potency Floor
  • PLUS a special effect that changes your playstyle slightly (PB gain, guard-based damage, down damage, etc.)

You obtain EX augments through:

  • Eredim series weapons from quests like Nameless City, which drop with 3 EX Augments built in
  • EX upgrade systems and exchanges added in later updates

EX examples (not an exhaustive list):

  • EX augments that give flat damage and PB generation
  • EX augments that buff you after dodging/guarding
  • EX augments that shine during downs or long fights

Because every EX is already ~4–4.5% potency plus floor, it’s extremely rare for them to be “bad.” You mainly pick the ones that fit your class and comfort.

If you’re not running EX augments on your main weapon yet, you’re leaving a lot of damage on the table.

⚙️ Strong Supporting Augments (PP, Floor, Utility)

Once your core “big boys” are in place, the rest of your slots are about rounding out your build.

🧪 Triyal Line (Mega / Spiro / Wardro / etc.)

The Triyal family are advanced augments that usually trade something (HP/PP/resistance) for more damage and BP.

For example, Tria/Trijal-like augments seen in tools and calculators:

  • One variant gives ~2.25% potency and –1% floor
  • Others tweak damage vs HP, PP, or resistances in different ways

They are often:

  • Farmed from intruder-type quests / special combat sectors
  • Highlighted in meta build discussions for padding out DPS

Triyal augments are your fine-tuning tools: you pick the mix of damage vs survivability that fits the content you run.

🧠 Gladia Soul & Other High-End Souls

Souls evolved a lot in NGS compared to the early days.

High-end Souls like Gladia Soul are commonly recommended in up-to-date augment build guides and discussions as core parts of weapon and unit builds, often giving potency plus useful secondary stats.

They’re usually sourced from:

  • Boss-focused quests (Dark Falz, Aegis, other UQs)
  • Limited-time quests and capsule exchanges

Think of Souls as hybrid augments: they’re not always the absolute top potency in a slot, but they often combine damage, HP/PP, and sometimes special traits in a very efficient package.

🌍 Domina (Older Region Dominas & High Domina)

Before Ultia Domina, there were:

  • Ael / Ret / Kvar / Stia Domina and their High Domina versions
  • These combine multiple region-specific stats into one augment, often providing potency + PP + HP.

They’re still very solid as:

  • Stepping stones before Ultia Domina
  • Budget choices while you’re saving materials

If you’re mid-game, slapping a region Domina on armor or weapon is a huge upgrade compared to random low-tier capsules.

🧱 Mastery & Capsule Exchange “Grand” Augments

Mastery augments and Grand / Majis / LC variants in the Augment Capsule Exchange are also great filler pieces:

  • Mastery gives a mix of potency, floor, and damage resistance
  • High-end capsules in the exchange shop can give things like:
  • ~3.25% potency
  • +6% Potency Floor
  • +HP and resist in a single slot

Use these to:

  • Replace outdated low-potency augments
  • Fill in categories you haven’t used yet
  • Push your floor and survivability without losing too much damage

🧩 Sample 8-Slot Builds (Weapon & Armor)

These aren’t “only correct answers,” but they’ll give you a clear picture of how a strong augment layout looks. Adjust based on what you actually own.

🗡️ Example Weapon Build – All-Round DPS

Goal: Strong damage, decent floor, still some comfort.

  • 1x Ultia Domina (universal god slot)
  • 1x Halphinale (or Majis/Lux/Lois variant)
  • 1x Gigas Maste (or Majis/LC version)
  • 1x Gladia Soul (or similar high-end Soul)
  • 1–2x Triyal augments tuned for damage (Mega/Guaro/Highkvar Triyal-type)
  • 2–3x EX Augments that match your class and playstyle (e.g. PB-focused, counter-focused, down-focused)

Result:

A weapon stacked with multiple 4–6% potency augments, plus EX augments on top. Huge raw damage, good floor, and strong synergy.

🛡️ Example Armor Build – Safe DPS (Comfort-Oriented)

Goal: You don’t want to die in endgame content, but still want real damage.

On each unit:

  • 1x Halphinale (or equivalent)
  • 1x Ultia Domina or High Domina variant
  • 1x Grand Dread Keeper or Dread Keeper V for HP, floor, and resist
  • 1x Gigas Maste or Triyal (damage-leaning)
  • 1x Gladia Soul or another strong Soul
  • 1–2x Mastery / LF / LC augments from the capsule exchange for extra BP, floor, and resist

This layout gives you:

  • Solid potency on every unit
  • Excellent HP, floor, and damage resistance
  • Enough power to feel good in high-difficulty content without constantly cartwheeling into the floor

💰 Example Budget/Progression Build for Mid-Game

If you’re not in full endgame yet:

  • Use Might/Precision/Technique augments and early Domina / Mastery as stepping stones.
  • Mix in lower-tier Dread Keeper and Gigas as you acquire them.
  • Slot any EX augment you can get from early Eredim weapons — even the “wrong ones” are usually better than no EX at all.

The point is not to wait for “perfect BiS” — fill your slots now, then upgrade piece by piece.

🌾 Where to Farm the Best Augments Fast

Here’s where the really good stuff tends to come from (as of 2025).

🏰 Nameless City / Eredim Farm – EX Augments

  • Eredim series weapons drop with three EX Augments pre-affixed.
  • You get them from late-game quests like Nameless City and related high-rank content.

Even if you don’t main that weapon, it’s a way to:

  • Grab EX augment options
  • Experiment with different EX combos

🌌 Realm of Awakened Phantasies & LTQs – Ultia Domina + Sovereigns

The Realm of Awakened Phantasies update introduced:

  • 12★ Progre Armor
  • C/Ultia Domina as a new augment
  • Materials (Sovereigns, etc.) used to craft Domina and related capsules

If you care about “real” BiS, you’ll be spending time in:

  • Limited-Time Quests tied to this update
  • The augment exchanges that unlock once you have enough materials

🐉 Dark Falz / High-End Boss Quests – Halphinale & Souls

Boss-focused content like Dark Falz Aegis is a major source for:

  • Aegis Soul IV
  • Materials to craft Halphinale and later variants

You’ll also see high-end Souls like Gladia Soul becoming more accessible through:

  • High-rank quests
  • Limited-time events
  • Capsule Exchange updates

🔁 High-Rank Combat Sectors & Intruders – Triyal / Domina / Grand Capsules

  • High-rank combat sectors and intruder-type events drop advanced capsules like Triyal and high Domina lines.
  • They’re also great for stockpiling fodder capsules you can turn into Grand, LC, or Majis versions via the Augment Capsule Exchange Shop.

Think of these areas as your grind spots: you go there to build up a bank of capsules so future affixing sessions hurt less.

⚠️ Common Augment Mistakes That Kill Your Damage

Let’s save you some pain.

❌ 1. Ignoring Augments Entirely

Running around with:

  • No augments
  • Or only early story augments

…is basically playing the game with a handicap. Even simple Might/Precision/Technique or early Domina/Mastery is a huge upgrade.

❌ 2. Taking Only HP / Resist Without Potency

Survivability is good, but if your 8-slot item has:

  • HP, HP, resist, resist, resist, no potency…

You’re turning your build into a sponge that hits like a wet noodle. Keep a damage-first mindset, then add HP/floor as supporting stats.

❌ 3. Stacking Multiple Augments from the Same Category

Trying to use:

  • Two Dominas
  • Or overlapping advanced variants from the same category

…won’t work; the game only lets one from each category apply. You just waste meseta and capsules.

❌ 4. Ignoring EX Augments

EX augments are too strong to ignore at this point:

  • 4–4.5% potency + 2% floor + unique effects, just for a weapon slot.

If your main weapon has zero EX augments, upgrading that is one of the fastest ways to jump your DPS.

❌ 5. Throwing BiS Augments on a Weapon You’ll Replace Next Week

Don’t drop all your rare EXs, Halphinale, Domina, etc. onto a weapon that:

  • Is outdated
  • Or about to be replaced by a series from the newest patch

Pick a weapon line you’re happy with long-term, then commit your expensive augments to that.

🚀 Upgrade Order – How to Boost Your Damage Today

Here’s a simple, practical priority list you can follow right now.

Step 1 – Fill Every Empty Slot

  • Use basic Might/Precision/Technique, early Domina, Mastery, or even old Dread/Gigas augments.
  • Anything with potency is better than nothing.

Step 2 – Replace Trash with “Real” Damage Augments

Start swapping out low-tier augments for:

  • Halphinale (any variant you can get)
  • Gigas Maste / Grand Dread Keeper
  • Good Souls (Gladia)
  • Strong Triyal capsules

Each of these upgrades usually gives you “free” damage without ruining your build.

Step 3 – Add EX Augments to Your Main Weapon

  • Get at least 1–2 EX augments onto your main weapon ASAP.
  • Use whatever EXs you have; then later refine them to combos that match your class (PB-heavy, counter-heavy, etc.).

This alone is a big, instant power spike.

Step 4 – Build Toward Ultia Domina + Full 8-Slot Meta

Finally:

  • Aim for Ultia Domina on weapon and units once you can afford the materials.
  • Round out each piece with Halphinale, Gigas Maste / Grand Dread Keeper, Triyal, Souls, and Mastery/Grand capsules.

At this point, your character starts to feel “finished”: high potency, high floor, strong HP/PP, and enough BP for anything the game throws at you (within your skill level).

🏁 Conclusion

The “best augments” in PSO2 NGS aren’t just random names — they’re the pieces that, together, form a real endgame build:

  • Ultia Domina gives you a huge all-in-one package of potency, PP, HP, and floor.
  • Halphinale, Gigas Maste, Dread Keeper V / Grand Dread Keeper, Gladia Soul, and Triyal augments fill out your damage, floor, and survivability.
  • EX Augments are weapon-only powerhouses with ~4–4.5% potency each, plus floor and special effects, and they’re now a core part of any strong endgame weapon.
  • Augment Capsule Exchange, high-rank combat sectors, Realm of Awakened Phantasies, and boss quests like Dark Falz Aegis are your main farming spots for these capsules.

If you:

  1. Fill every empty slot,
  2. Replace weak augments with real potency,
  3. Add EX augments to your main weapon, and
  4. Gradually build up to Ultia Domina + Halphinale-tier augments…

…you’ll feel your damage jump hard, even without changing your class or rotation.
